    Good evening sa lahat.
First of all, thank you to everyone contributing to this thread :)

Nagsisimula palang ako sa aking uni application/visa/info gathering.
I'm also planning to take a CS/IT course in Aus. Hindi CS/IT ang background ko pero 3 years work experience na meron ako as a software design engineer.

Anyway, initially I'm choosing between these schools, based on their curriculum and annual price: 1 ranked highest
    1. Flinders Uni - Bachelor of ComSci (BCS) - 24100 AUD/year
    2. Uni of Canberra - Bachelor in IT (BIT) - 19660 AUD/year
    3. Uni of New England - BCS - 19640 AUD/year
    4. Charlse Sturt Uni - BCS - 20000 AUD/year
    5. SwineBurne Uni - BCS - 24590 AUD/year
    6. Deakin Uni - BIT - 26000 AUD/year
    7. Uni of Wollongong - BCS - 28000AUD/year (pangarap nalang hehe...)

    Why do I choose Flinders?
    1. Heavy sa Math courses, mukhang forte nila ang electronics, at meron silang electronics course sa CS degree
    2. Located near Adelaide. Cheaper cost of living than Melbourne.
    3. Baka kayanin sa part time work ang annual tuition.

Questions in my mind right now:
    1. I'm not sure if i-rerecognize nila ang aking educational attainment. So I'm not sure mag "conversion" course pathway, advance diploma pathway, or what... siguro dito na papasok ang tulong ng mga educ agents (FORTRUST or IDP).
    2. Not sure if meron pang mas practical or efficient way to acquire points for PR. Sa ngayon ito lang alam ko, makakuha ng relevant degree sa gustong trabaho, graduate from an Australian university...

    TLDR:
    Ang balak ko sana:
    1. Aral sa AUS
    2. Mag apply ng PR

Thanks to this thread, I have new schools to look into, that may be cheaper.
Hearing from you guys kung pano niyo nabawi ang gastos is really uplifting on my part.

It would be great to hear your thoughts about my plans/comments/suggestions/tips etc...
    Salamat sa Pag-basa!
    More power! :D

    Hello @deadbeef,

    1. You can always try to apply for advanced standing credits if you think that some of the subjects that you've taken in your previous degree/s are similar to any of the units in your prospective course. Also, you can apply for advanced standing credits if you have previous relevant work experience. Ask your educational provider of choice on how to apply for advanced standing.

    2. If you're going the IT pathway to PR, your utmost objective is to have a positive skills assessment from Australian Computer Society (ACS), the governing body for ICT professionals in Australia. Check their skills assessment guidelines here:
    https://www.acs.org.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0020/7319/Skills-Assessment-Guidelines-for-Applicants.pdf

Now if I may also ask a question, have you considered taking a Masters degree so it will only be 2 years of study (quicker and cheaper than bachelors in AU, which is usually 3 years)?

    Hello @appledeuce
    Thank you for the response..

I also considered taking the masters degree in ComSci. Unfortunately, I don't have the undergrad requirement for admissions to Masters in a reputable Uni. I inquired Deakin, UNSW, RMIT during their educ expo here in Makati... They all require a bachelors in ComSci or Engineering related course... I am not an Eng grad... far from it... BA humanities :D

In line with taking a masters... I am curious with the pathway of taking a Grad Diploma first, then take a masters... Is that possible? Is that what other people refer to as a "conversion" course? Say hindi naman ako Math/Eng student pero gusto ko mag masters ng ComSci... plausible ba yun? Kaso parang ganun din kasi mangyayari, 3 years ang labas... pero masters na...

Try directly submitting your application to all universities that you have shortlisted. It's free anyway, you've got nothing to lose. I myself don't have an IT/Eng'g related undergrad degree, so I initially submitted an application for admission to an undergrad IT degree at Victoria University. When my admissions officer saw my CV, he suggested taking a masters degree in IT instead, so I changed the course in my online application form and it got approved.

If you are filling in your application form, always mention your IT experience every chance you get. :)

Have you gone thru the ACS Assessment Guidelines? Which route do you think is best for you? Getting a Grad Diploma then a masters is possible, for sure, but check first if you are able to directly get entry into a masters degree.
