How to convert PH Driver's License to AU Driver's License?

yup tama ka, go for manual.
kuha ka ng driving instructor brod, kasi yung mga comments namin dito e as per experienced namin, iba pa din kung may instructor ka na ng tuturo sa yo in a professional way.

Also booked my driving trst, sept 10, 835am pa nmn, good luck to me hehe hirap ba talaga ang within school hours? I was thinking of rebooking, na takot ako sa comment ng instructor eh. Bt i was thinking it won't be that bad right? What dyou guys think? Mai fee pa naman f mg rebook dito sa vic, di tulad sa nsw.

tricky yung school hours na driving test mo. minsan papadaanin ka sa school zone ng examiner. be careful at strict sila sa school zone speed limit. baka hindi mo makita ang school zone sign area.
I suggest na kung may Map ka ng Victoria, (Gregorys or Melway) tignan mo kung san ang schools sa area na possible na madadaanan nyo during exam.

Salamat @Milkan, highly appreciated ung inputs nyo, e study ko ung ruta ko I'll try the schooltime during the lesson and see from there kung kaya ba, otherwise rebook ang show ko hehe

Best time to choose is 930-3, and not Friday, tama ba?

Hi guys, just want to share my experience on getting my driver's license here in Victoria.

One tip that I could give for those who will just be arriving here who already has a PH pro/non-pro license and wants to get an AU license before the 3 or 6 months validity expired is to have it process as soon as possible when you arrive.

For those who don't know, you can drive and use your PH license here in VIC for 6 months, after that you'll need to get your VIC license. I only started processing mine 2 months before the 6 months validity expired. I thought 2 months would give me enough processing time but luck wasn't on my side. I did my learner's exam around second week of July and my Hazard Perception exam last week of July. After that, I scheduled my driving test and the earliest schedule that I could get was Sept. 2, it was only a few days before my 6 months validity runs out which was Sept. 16.

I thought that I'd be good thinking that I could get my license before my PH license validity expires but on the day of the driving test, they did not allow me to proceed with the test because the speedometer of my car is not visible on the passenger side (lesson learned, make sure to read the paper that they'll give you once you made an appointment). They had my test rescheduled on Sept. 26. I had to stop driving for 10 days after Sept. 16. I also had to book a driving school for me to be able to use a suitable car. It cost me $275 dollars for 2 and half hours of driving lesson and using their car on the driving test but it was all worth it. I was able to pass my test without any point deduction and was given a full license.

Hiring a driving instructor has been really helpful to me because they were able to point out some tips on how to pass the test. It was really about being technical like always doing mirror and head check when changing lanes or turning left/right. Stopping 3 or more seconds at the stop sign. Waiting a few seconds before changing lane after indicating your signal lights. Maintaining the correct speed. Maintaining the correct distance to the car in front of you. Accelerating and decelerating/braking smoothly, etc...

Driving instructors also knows the route of the driving test so you will be able to familiarise the area before your actual exam. They also knows which examiner are strict so you can prevent them if you got a chance. They also talk to the examiner from time to time during your drive test.

So for those who are going to their drive test, book a few driving lessons, it will surely help.

Bakit ang tagal ng waiting dyan? Dito a month lang, pag swerte ka pa, pwede mo check online kung may nag backout or nagpa resched tapos grab mo slot na naging available.

I think hindi pwede yun, kada state kasi iba licensing authority. Dito sa victoria, vicroads nagbibigay ng license, tapos kung dito ka mag exam, baka Victorian license makukuha mo. hehe

@dhey_almighty - yep, I think mag theory exam ka ulet.... and as far as I know, kung sa ibang state ka mag papalicense, kailangan mo ipa-convert ang license na yun pag balik mo sa WA. For example, dito ka sa VIC mag papalicense, ibibigay sayo is Victorian License.. pwede mo gamitin yun ng ilang month sa WA pero kailangan mo ipa-convert sa WA license in a couple of months. And I also think na hinahanapan ng proof of address pag kukuha ng license, kasi dito sa VIC hinanapan ako.

Anyways, tiis tiis lang at makakapag PDA ka din nyan. God Bless!

If you pass it you will be issued a Full license
If you fail it you will be issued a Learners Driver License and will not be allowed to
drive without a person with full drivers license sitting beside you


Tips:

Choose a not so busy suburb from which you will book your road test
Practice on that particular road near the vicinity of the RTA you are book in for road test
Know the rules of ROUND ABOUT before driving
know the rules of Changing Lanes
know the rules Right of Way
During the road test make it obvious to the test officer that you are aware of other cars beside and behind you. Constantly look at the rear and side mirror

*uhm, i think hinde na kelangan ipakita pa sa DOT ung PH Prof license mo upon arrival...pwede ka na agad mag drive upon arrival dito sa Oz...and mag-start ung count ng three months rule to drive using ur PH drivers license mo...during these time e need mo kumuha ng Theory exam sa DOT (passing is 24 at 30 items siya) then afterwhich e ibobook ka na ng DOT for a Practical Driving Assessment...at sasabihin sayo ng DOT na after three months from the date of your arrival e hinde ka na allowed to drive using ur PH License...

**ang problema e ang hirap magpa book ng PDA...hehe...ung sa akin magexpire ung three months rule ko sa first week of November pero ang pinaka available daw na PDA e March 2015 pa! paano kaya un?! haha

@JCsantos, i was under the impression kse na only Ph pro DL holders are allowed to drive during the first 3-6 months in first world countries. Sa US kse I remember being asked if pro ba yun license ko before the company issued the car for me to use. I know sa ph pag company car dapat pro, pero sa first world country wasn't really sure if nagmamatter 'to, kung di naman eh ok lang siguro non-pro pakuha ko kay misis. thanks!

@manofsteel Yup it does not matter if it is a Non Pro or Pro if your Mrs will just be driving a car. Non pro is equivalent to a Class C license here in Australia.

My brother that has a Non Pro Philippine Driver for 6 years just went through this just recently and now got a Full Drivers License.

Maybe there is a concern on how long you have been driving in the Philippines as well coz my brother was ask by the officer.

I did mine 15 years ago I have a Philippine Driver License but only have it not over 6 months when I migrated to Australia.

The difference is when I pass the Learners Test binigyan ako ng Learners Driver License meaning I cannot drive by myself so the 3 months to drive using Philippine Driver License did not apply to me considering I have no much experience driving yet.

The only advantage I got is when I passed the road test I did not go through the P plate ,, diretso na kaagad ng Full License.

So kung yung mrs mo eh ngayon pa lang kukuha ng Drivers License sa pinas I think she cannot drive using that Philippine Driver License.

In any case its still better na kumuha ng Philippine Driver License and use it here to avoid the process of getting P Plates !
