WA-Bound... where to?

hi WA settlers,

my husband's bound for Perth on Nov 2012. Since we did not landed in WA for our initial entry, we are clueless ngayon kung san sya temporarily dapat mag-settle exactly sa WA. He would still be looking for a job. He is an EE grad and used to work as a maintenance engr sa manufacturing company sa Phils and lately, sa construction industry dito sa Middle East. We know that he would need to get some sort of a "license card" kung sa construction ang target-in nyang work, so he is thinking of going back into manufacturing sector instead pagdating dyan.

our questions:
1. sang part ba ng WA maraming manufacturing plants or offices?
2. paano ba ang system sa pag-apply ng work, online or he could also do some walk-in applications?
3. sang part ng WA or Perth magandang mag-settle temporarily para accessible sa mga interviews?

    wala pa eh. hubby is already in Perth though. mag-1 month na on the 13th pero wala pa ring interview scheduled so far. :(

    @bachuchay... hi, finally he was able to get a job ngayon lang week na ito sa isang maliit na manufacturing company. start siya sa Monday. gawin nyang pangtawid gutom at local experience. nasa Perth sya ngayon.

    for now, plan nya buy muna siya ng bike kasi mga 40mins walk daw at walang route ng public transport going to that area.

    @lock_code2004... thanks! :) honga eh, kasi sobrang dami na nyang regret letters na nakukuha at nagiging hopeless na siya. siguro kasi july at down nga ang construction?? actually, na-refer lang din sya ng kabayan from a ticketing office dahil supposedly ay uuwi siya ng pinas na lang muna at papalipas ng winter. hehe. sabi ko nga, isipin nya na lang na nag-te-training siya for free. :)

    january pa kami susunod, in time sa pasukan, para sa Aust na mag-grade 1 si junakis. hehe.

    @lady_matE - hi.. marami din namang manufacturing companies sa WA.. pero specific sa mga industries na meron dito.. mostly food manufacturing... mga companies na support sa oil/gas and mining...

    search search lang po mga online job sites.. tapos filter nyo "manufacturing".

    anung industry po ang experience nyo? at anung specialization nyo?

    unfortunately wala masyadong semicon/electronics company dito..
    so dapat makapag-cross ka ng industry...

    im working for an oil/gas company now..

    hi.. hindi naman ako nagtraining.. naswertehan lang.. actually sa dubai ako na hire...
    tapos nalipat sa US.. tapos nagpalipat dito sa AU nung na-approved na visa ko..

    - kailangan i benta nyo ang sarili nyo na transferrable ang mga skills nyo regardless of industry (example yung mga tipong Quality, Green Belt training...etc)...
    - search ka ng mga related opening jobs online, check mo anung mga specific requirements nila..
    - and then konting research sa mga company..
    - try to revise your resume to fit the industry na applyan mo.. yung mga terms etc..

    @ShayShey - yes.. IE po sa pinas sa isang semicon company... from prod engr/prod&materials planning/ERP analyst to method engrs/quality improvements..

    luckily my current company needed someone to implement their ERP system... at medyo alam ko nmn yun.. after several years, as part of job rotation initiative ng company, i moved to a different position, so im back to manufacturing/quality..

    of course malaking adjustments.. ang concern ng mga recruiters dito kasi eh iba daw ang work environment ng ibang industries (oil/gas/mining) kaya mostly ang hire nila eh yung may same work experience... pag nag-apply kailangan lang nating prove na kaya nating mag-adapt sa ibang industry..at yung mga skills natin eh papasa din naman sa hinahanap nila..

    although may mga jobs na kailangan ng specific industry certifications (example sa quality, yung tipong API - american petroleum institute.. AU dept of mining..etc)... so example nung lumipat ako dito sa AU.. iba ang mga regulations nila.. syempre sinabi ko lang na give me the job and 3 months to learn the standards...and i can deliver good results..

    lakasan lang ng loob.. and of course patunayan mo na kaya mo talga..
    kayang kaya ng pinoy! bow!

Sana palarin din ako :) :) :) baka may opening sa company niyo, maalam ako sa quality system, six sigma concepts (greenbelt trained) pati lean concepts, very much experienced sa root cause analysis and corrective/ preventive action identification and implementation.. haha.. sa'yo na talaga nag-apply :p pero seriously, thanks sa pag-assist sa mga bago dito :)

    im not sure about victoria.. pero bihira nmn tlaga ang semicon sa AU.. but you can look for industries na medyo malapit like telecoms, or mga companies like emerson, ge.. etc..

    check check din kayo online kung anung mg companies/industries ang mga may hiring para pag may visa na kayo, alam nyo na ang mga prospective employers..

    @lock_code2004 .. ok po... ask na rin po ako if may alam kang website ng mga 2nd hand cars aside sa gumtree. Salamat Master ^:)^
    i bought my car sa gumtree... you can filter by listing type "dealer"..
    and then click mo isang ad, then makikita mo yung mga iba pang ads ng same dealer..
    at yung address nila or kung may website sila....

    @lock_code2004..Bossing sa fremantle ka pla, my tita ako jan ung apartment nila ay ung prang sa gilid ng dagat lg. Nakalimutan ko ang exact address nya ehh..

    06-01-11: Arrived Australia (457 visa dependent on my dad)
    28-05-12: Lodged RSMS 857 visa (seperate from my dad already)
    28-06-12: Done Medical check
    30-10-12: Submit AFP check
    07-11-12: Went home on a bridging visa B for holiday and wedding..:)
    12-01-13: CO allocated and nomination approved
    18-01-13: CO asked documents of my husband to be included on my application as migrating dependent..Thank u LORD!
    15-02-13: Husband completed all requirements (police check, medical, english requirements and joint statement)
    15-02-13: CO issued pre-grant letter instructing hubby to apply tourist visa to enter Australia in order our 857 visa to be granted.
    27-02-13: Hubby applied Subclass 676 tourist visa.
    06-03-13: Hubby's tourist visa approved.
    16-03-13: Hubby arrived Australia.
    18-03-13: Our RSMS 857 visa granted.. (nothing to ask more)
