why people are so fussy about 489...

hi to all,

Just want to share my observations and what I have read on various discussions here about visa 489 state sponsorship.

I do understand that 189 or 190 are much better coz those visas are permanent but I don't understand why some people on this forum, the way they comment about 489 sounds like its the worst visa option.

There are so many people who wants to migrate to Australia but their skills are not in the list so they take all possible ways like student visa which is ridiculously expensive, with limited working hours w/o any assurance of permanent residency after.

So for those who are lucky to have their skills in the list even for 489, be thankful that you have that option. Be contented and be happy with the opportunity!

DIBP makes it harder and harder to migrate to Australia as time goes by so its up to you all if you want to let go of the chance. I will not be surprised if in the coming years applying 489 will be tough as well.

@Au_Vic Really may ganyang ganap pala? I got a 489 invite. May pending application ako sa VIC for 190 ICT occupation. My husband and I decided to go for 489 na lang now that we have an invite rather than wait for 190 that MIGHT not come. Napansin ko na immigration policies change a lot. Baka kakahintay ko sa 190 abutan ako ng changes at di na makarating.

yep, may few posts or comments dito sa forum about 489. cguro mejo undecided pa ung mga yun or bka tingin nila makakababa ng pagkatao nila kpg nka 489 visa sila...hehe...

good decision na itake mo na ung 489 path at least invited ka na and eventually makamove ka na dito then settle in and after 2 yrs apply ka na ng PR kesa mag-antay ka ng 190 na walang assurance kung kelan ka maiinvite or kung maiinvite ka.

oo, grab nyo na opportunity na meron kayo now kasi we don't know kung anung changes ang pwede mangyari. kaya paulit-ulit kong sinsabi sa forum na eto na di natin control ang isip at decision ng immigration kung kelan at kung anu ang gusto nila baguhin pwede.

I have 489 visa, relative sponsored. For me walang masama sa 489 kung gusto mo talaga maka migrate. I applied for this visa kasi gusto ko magmigrate abroad kasi walang opportunity masyado ang mga nurses sa atin. Kulang ako ng points para sa 189/190 kasi limited ang work experience ko. Eto ako ngayon, 2 years working at naka apply na ng 887 visa, still waiting for approval.

I totally agree with you @rdr8 . if gusto maraming paraan kpag ayaw marami dahilan. may mga comments kasi dito sa forum na parang big deal sa kanila kung nka 489 as if people at coles or woolies will ask them what's their visa type..lol...

oh well, its their choice anyway! best of luck with your PR application, saglit na lang makukuha mo din yan.

@Au_Vic yung brother ko rin 489 relative sponsored, nagwork siya sa SG before coming here. Same din, kulang siya sa points pero dahil sa IELTS naman pero gusto niya magmigrate sa Au so go siya sa 489. Ngayon PR na siya. Sayang nga inabutan siya nung change dun sa citizenship. Edi sana citizen na siya now hehe.

Yung isa ko kakilala, sinuggest ko yung 489, as option pero ayaw, ayun. Nagapply ng 189, nareject kasi nagclaim ng points na di naman dapat iclaim. Ngayon kinoconsider na niya yung 489 relative sponsored. Sayang yung oras niya at pera niya.

@Au_Vic at @rdr8 thanks sa mga positive words.. tama naman kayo pareho na walang masama sa 489 siguro yun iba kaya gusto ng 189/190 kasi pr agad sila at maski saan sila pwede mag work at tumira for 189 pero maski saan naman state yan basta masipag ka at willing to accept anything makakaya din naman at eventually magiging PR at citizen din.

@Hunter_08 hello! Kapag 489 relative sponsored allowed siya anywhere in Australia pero may ilang area na di pde sa NSW At QLD.

Oo tama ka basta sipag at tiyaga kaya yan. At para sa future at ikakaganda ng life. Good luck sa application mo.

kya nga ung mga iba dito sa forum na kulang sa points nagsuggest ako na kung may option ang 489 go for it kc they would not know kung kelan babaguhin ang immigration rules but there are people who still want to stick it out with 189 or 190 kht na 1 yr na sila nagaantay to get invited. sayang ung time kc.

agree with you @Hunter_08 shempre lahat gusto yung PR agad para no restrictions but yung iba kc may option ng 489 kaso they opted not to kahit over 1 yr na nagaantay ng 189 or 190 invitation. Sayang yung time like 1 yr na pinagantay nila imagine kung naka 489 sila e di 1 yr na lang ung kulang then pwede na for PR.

oh well, its their decision and their life anyway!

Mas gusto ko na maghintay na nandoon na ako kesa nandito sa Pinas. Umaandar ang oras, yung ihihintay ko dito sa Pinas eh di bawas na sa 2 years na requirement ng 489. Pano kung abutin ng 10 months paghihintay eh di konti na lang matatapos ko na yung two years.

There is an ongoing Policy Consultation Paper on Visa simplification that will reduce the current 99 visas into 10. One recommendation is to require all migrants to be on 2 years provisional visa before a PR visa is granted. If that happens, para na rin lahat on the current 489 visa.

mas gusto ko nasa Oz na ko bahala na temporary visa like 489. at least pag nag apply ako ng 887 mga nasa Oz lang ang karibal ko unlike 189 or 190 na buong mundo. hahaha

No reason to be picky with migration pathway instead, be grateful for the opportunity.

@lccnsrsnn Hi. Pwede bang matanong gano katagal since nagkaroon kayo ng invite for visa 489 from VIC?Naghihintay rin po kasi ako ng visa 489 from VIC and nabasa ko po sa DIBP webpage na wala pang ininvite for visa 489 ang VIC for the year 2017-2018.

@eking Software Tester 261314. Without state nomination 60 points. Then naging 70 kasi na-nominate na ng state.

@eking hindi pataas ang points sa visa 489 basta may slot pa sila at nabigya mo lahat ng reqs nila maiinvite ka.

@agd Wala pa ako doon pero nagko-compute na ako ng gastos para at least we know what to expect. Siguro kung dalawa kayo magtatrabaho tapos at least 50K annually ang sweldo nyo each kaya naman. Sa akin yung computation ko para sa dalawang adults nasa 2K-2500 a month eh.
