Hello TotoyOZresident and sa lahat ng members ng forum:) maraming salamat sa very helpful info na ito TotoyOZresident. Would it be possible for u to send me a copy of the Australian resume format na nabanggit mo sa post mong ito. I'm not aware that there is a specific resume format in Au. I'm actually a newbie here but i have been granted a subclass 190 visa
Dec 2013. I've been sending applications online way before the visa grant, mainly thru seek.com, and have not received any positive feedback yet. A few friends told me na di maganda ang market jan specifically for engineering where my line of is in. Kaya hesitant akong magresign from my work here in singapore and I have until november of this yr to make my first entry in AU. Some friends advise me to not resign yet until im sure of a job then just have a 1 or 2-week vacation in Au sometime august or september bago mag holiday mood and mga aussies just to test the waters. My agent told me to go take the risk at pumunta jan sa au kahit walang trabahong sigurado. Sabe nya, makakahanap naman daw ako for sure--kahit temporarily e di in line sa trabaho ko. My agent also said that anong good ng visa mo kundi ka agad pupunta dito sa Australia. Hindi pa rin ako makadecide on what to do. Im afraid na maubos ko lang yung ipon ko para makipagsapalaran jan sa Au without a sure source of income. On the other hand, i really want to go there now and escape my very stressful working environment here in singapore. I hope you guys can give me so insights on this. Many thanks!!

hi Seraph, i had the same dilemma as you 3 years ago. Ang gnawa ko ndi ko ginive up muna ang PR ko sa SG and I decided to give it a try here for 2 months at kung walang mangyari babalik ako ng SG eventhough I alreadyy resigned from my job,, matter of fact ay returned ticket ung binili ko non. Luckily after 3 wks of stay here my nahanap nman ako na work Yes, what your friends are saying is true na medyo mahirap ung job market ngayon dto. Anong field mo po sa engineering? Dito kami sa Melbourne, and they say its the manufacturing capital of Aus, but sad to say too many job losses happening specially nung nag announce ung 3 big car makers na they will cease their mfng here, sabi nga sa news eh its about 40 job losses/day at Victoria alone and not much jobs are being created. Added pa na competition is getting tougher na din because of many immigrants coming from UK, China and India as well. My foremer manager from SG, he and the family moved to Brisbane Feb of last year and last time na nakausap ko sya wala padn daw syang work (I think that was Nov), lucky ung wife nya is IT at nagka work agad.

Maybe you give it a try for 1-2 months but be prepared financially since my kamahalan ang cost of living specially if u dont have relatives or friends na matutuluyan like my case,
Hello @happyinmelbourne34!! Thanks so much for responding:) so you're currently staying in melbourne, right? Just making sure:) kase i was sponsored by victoria and im planning to stay and hopefully get a job in melbourne. I have relatives in adelaide but im not sure if i will allowed to stay there while looking for a job in victoria--just to minimize my accommodation expenses once i decide to go there in au and syempre kahit papano may makkunan ako ng moral support:). Would you know kung okay lang yun?

Im a civil engineer and ive worked mainly in the oil and gas industry. How about you? Mejo scary yung stats ng job losses jan ah. Pero if i decide to take the risk and go there without a job, what kind of odd jobs ang masasabeng pdeng "pantawid gutom" jan sa melbourne? And can you please give me some figures pagdating sa average monthly expenses jan? I heard maahal daw jan sa melbourne compared with other cities.

Sir, opo dto kami sa Melbourne. Industrial eng'r po ung background ko and working here as demand/inventory planner sa 1 automotive MNC.

By experience po kc noon, na interview ko thru skype the company was based in Adelaide.

Sabi sa news, the Victorian govt is planning massive infrastructure projects to build roads, expand ung mga rail links, plus rail from the city to Tullamarine airport and i-expand dn po ung airport so these projects would generate jobs.

Ung odd jobs po na available, like pizza delivery pero dapat may own transpo kayo, or tipong mga kitchen hand.

Monthly expenses, depende dn po...kung plano nyo po mag rent ng 2-bedroom flat depende sa location at sa built ng bahay but on the avg rent po ay 280-350/wk for 2 bedroom.
If wala kayong car, prepare $10-15/day sa transpo , then sa pagkain/groceries nman po 2 kami budget po nmin nasa 100-120/wk.

Hi everyone! As I said before lunukin nyo muna ang pride ninyo. Kahit gaanu kayo kagaling sa Pinas kapag nagdecide kayo mag migrate sa ibang bansa talagang back to zero kayo. I would recommend na maganda pumunta dito mga ganitong month May to July. June kasi is end of financial year filing ng tax at usually maraming hiring kapag ganitong months. Cheers..

Wow, maraming salamat sa balitang to. Pero please dont call me sir kase di ata bagay at babae ako. Hehe.. Good news nga saken na marameng infra projects na parating specially in VIC. May nareceive nga akong email from Engineers australia re that. Havent read it in detail though.

Pizza delivery. Hahay.. Havent got a driving license yet. When u say kitchen hand, do u mean assistant sa kusina ng cook?:) i actually have a tutorial job, cleaning job or staff sa fastfood in mind--would you happen to know of any?

So for the accommodation, a budget of
200 per wk for a room will do, right? Ang mahal pala. So you're sharing a unit pala with somebody. Sabagay, mas makakamura ka pag may option kang magluto, right?

    @Seraph

Ung 1st na tinirhan nmin dto sa Melbourne 200/wk for a couple, inclusive ng PUB at internet, pag single person paupa nung landlord is 650/month. Yung 100-120/wk medyo sgana na at covered from breakfast-dinner.

    @TotoyOZresident,

I just want to share this.

For most of us who are not really good in english and well in the use of the language and at some part, our confidence is really down, do not worry.

I have watched this one english lesson about speaking in english with confidence.

She told in her video that not everyone has confidence, accept it! But we can fake confidence!

She, being an english teacher, also told that most of the times she is only 45 per cent correct in english! And she is not afraid! So why should we?

She said that practise and make mistake is fine.

Talk to anyone even though they do not want to talk to you is also fine.

Just do not be afraid to talk even if it is wrong.

    Sabi nya who cares daw!

Jijiji

The more you have acquaintance the better because who knows baka sila ang magrefer sa inyo ng Trabaho Kung hindi man, sila naman ang magbibigay sa inyo ng friendly tips on how to find work. If your Christian maghanap kayo ng Church baka makatulong din sa inyo ang church mate ninyo. Use google search as well baka may mga community centre sa state na pupuntahan nyo baka may Migrant program sila sa mga bagong dating. katulad dito sa canberra ACT link; http://marss.org.au/ and http://www.wcs.org.au/community/refugees-migrants. To assist you to participate in the Australian community and to understand more about Australia and how to make the most of living here.

Magsimula muna pala kayo sa Entry level na work sa skills ninyo kung nahihirapan kayo makakuha ng work. Then continue lang sa pag apply ng work na gusto nyo. Para may mailagay kayo sa references.

Kailangan talaga ng Faith, Panalangin, Diskarte, Tyaga at Google Search University. Magtanung ng magtanung lang dito sa pinoyau. Libre nman ang magtanung dito eh. God bless.

Maraming salamat for your helpful tips @TotoyOZresident! Sorry for the super delayed response though.

    God bless!

question po re character/employment references. i read one post here na tinatawagan talaga ng oz employer ang references kahit na nasa phils sila. ganito ba talaga ang practice ng job application process sa oz?

also, im thinking kung hihingi ako ng job referral letter from my references or i will just give their contact details sa employers. hassle kase yung magccompose pa sila ng referral letter. thanks. :)

Yup, ganito tlaga ung practice nila dto. Dto sa current job ko, before ako na hire tlagang tnawagan nila ung ex-manager ko which is US-based pa pati na dn ung naging mngr ko fr Pinas.

Not necessarily na humingi k ng referral letter from them hindi nman po ito required. Name & contact details of those references are enough so they can call them to verify about info na bngay mo from your CV/application form and most importantly do a character check. Hehehe kwento ng mngr ko from US almost 20 mins daw ang conversation nila ng HR nmin and asked her a lot of things regarding my attitude towards work & colleagues, how well do I perform with regards to my job scope and responsibilities, etc, etc...

Even dto pag lipat k ng jobs they always do reference check, lagi ko naririnig sa phone ung manager ko giving a feedback about a former subordinate since bngay daw sya as a reference :)

Sir, opo dto kami sa Melbourne. Industrial eng'r po ung background ko and working here as demand/inventory planner sa 1 automotive MNC.

By experience po kc noon, na interview ko thru skype the company was based in Adelaide.

Sabi sa news, the Victorian govt is planning massive infrastructure projects to build roads, expand ung mga rail links, plus rail from the city to Tullamarine airport and i-expand dn po ung airport so these projects would generate jobs.

Ung odd jobs po na available, like pizza delivery pero dapat may own transpo kayo, or tipong mga kitchen hand.

Monthly expenses, depende dn po...kung plano nyo po mag rent ng 2-bedroom flat depende sa location at sa built ng bahay but on the avg rent po ay 280-350/wk for 2 bedroom.
If wala kayong car, prepare $10-15/day sa transpo , then sa pagkain/groceries nman po 2 kami budget po nmin nasa 100-120/wk.

@Islandercity, I think pwede nman as long as my tax number ka and sa tingin ko nman hindi mahigpit ang mga odd jobs regardless of kung anong klaseng visa ang hawak mo as long as your visa entitled you to legally work in Au.

    Hello po,

This thread is very useful. We just had our "touch down" to activate our 190 class visa for me, my hubby and our daughter. Although we dont plan to move na agad, my hubby is it specialist-tech help support/supervisor at this time. Ask ko lang po when is the best time to go to act to look for job? Kasi magsisimula na naman kami (we are here in sg) though naisip ko din na pwede na magstart sending application while we are in sg..any inputs are appreciated. Thank you so much po sa mgrereply.

@loudandclear Agree with happyinmelbourne34, yung 2 jobs ko hiningan din ako ng at least 2 referees for both. Me pinasagutan daw sa kanila sa email and then phone call. Kahit long distance tinawagan sila ng employer.
