Bagong graduate ako sa seek so, I'm posting my journey here.

Arrived in Perth 1 May 2014. Six weeks later I was hired by referral for a casual position in telemarketing at a Solar Company. I worked Mon-Wed from 11-7pm so, after work consistent pa din ang session ko kay seek. My casual job pays the bill and still gives me some extra for shopping, eat out etc. kung tutuusin enough naman siya makabuhay so, with the help of that job, nalessen yung pressure at pagpapanic makahanap ng work kahit papano. Kasi syempre may income naman. So, malaking tulong talaga siya.

By God's grace nkakakuha naman ako ng mga interview. Feeling ko nga best in interview na ako hahaha! pero for the past 5 months wala namang nagbunga until last week. \m/

The following day tinawagan na ako for a phone interview and had 3 face to face interviews after that and with prayers and God's will they offered the job to me. Took me 5 months and 10 days to land a job in my field and my mga times na akala ko nga hindi na dadating. SS ako ng WA pero nagplano na din ako humingi ng release in the event na hindi ako talaga makakuha ng job in my field by the end of this year. I just hold on to my faith and was consistent in sending applications and in God's perfect timing dumating din siya. In the end it was all worth it kasi maganda sa resume ang company na to. Lahat ng mga nde nagwork out na interview suddenly made sense.

So, sa mga d pa graduate sa seek keep on trying and pray hard. Darating din ang para sainyo. Nothing is impossible in him. [-O< All the best sa ating lahat! :)
    congrats

Thanks po sa lahat. Alam kong nasabi na ng iba pero sasabihin ko ulit na napakahalaga na match na match ang profile mo sa inaaplayan mo pero meron namang iba na they can get away with it at nakukuha ang work kahit hindi sobrang exact sa background nila. Just that mas madalas na mas malaki ang pag-asa mahire pag nainterview ka sa isang job na parang copy past lang yung JD sa dati mong work at samahan ng matinding dasal. :)
Honestly, I find it weird that the job requirements of some positions need to be 100% exactly what they are looking for. Because I don't believe that any 2 jobs are 100% the same to the dot.

Sa ganyang sistema, mahirap mag explore ng new career opportunities.

Para kasing, if I have a job that is 100% my experience, and a company is looking for someone with the exact same experience I have, the only reason I would be interested for a new role is if I lost the one I have right now.

So essentially, ang pool ng mga recruiters are the people who have lost their jobs or are coming here jobless as opposed to people who are simply looking to grow and try something new.

I am fairly new to the workforce and the corporate scene, but I think I have enough experience to say that there isn't anything you can't learn to do and be really good at it as long as you have the determination and focus to succeed.

Got an offer last Monday for a job where I'll be doing the same thing I was doing in Singapore. Sooo grateful because it's just been ten days since I landed.

But there is a chance I won't take it dahil may hinihintay akong mas gusto ko.

    Hirap magdecide!

Oo nga, nagulat ako nung tumawag agad. Ibig sabihin hindi naman talaga lahat nahihirapan makahanap. The important thing is to know your forte and know where to look. It also helps if you sound and look confident during the interview because first impressions do last. Try not to play the I'm-a-migrant-with-no-local-experience card too much; if they bring it up, reverse it by saying how optimistic you are about facing new challenges, learning new things, etc. And most importantly, smile! :)

@multitasking Hehe salamat! Oo nga, minsan talaga right place at the right time ika nga.

Then get yourself in the loop, find and meet people in your profession. At siyempre, find people around who can give moral and social support...tulad ng mga pinoy au peeps haha.

@Megger most companies here in Western Australia are looking for local experience para sa mga engineers and technicians kaya nakaka-buset maghanap ng work as engineer and technician..haha...pero meron rin naman naghihire kahit walang local experience...tiyaga-tiyaga nga lang sa pagaapply... :-)

also, some companies are looking for certain certifications and tickets bago sila mag-hire, particularly construction white card and forklift tickets...

at importante rin ang C Class Drivers license at reliable transportation...so take note of this one...

kung offshore ka pa, better try applying for a job na para pagdating mo dito e may work ka na or may naghihintay nang job interview para sayo.. :-)

**in terms of "edge", i think meron pa rin, depending on your qualification as an engineer and/or technician... :-)

@dhey_almighty I read at other post that you did schooling.. does it help? Is there any difference if you are an electrical and you are a mechanical?

@Megger ung ibang companies kase dito nagrerequire ng mga certificates...and it helps na rin sa personal career mo kung andito ka...

pagdating mo dito, ang unang una mong kukunin na ticket is Construction White card...parang safety induction card siya which some companies requires you to have...para makapagwork ka sa construction sites...then Forklift ticket, etc. at syempre C Class Drivers license..at higit sa lahat e reliable transportation :-)

may difference din kung mechanical or electrical ka..pero it all boils down sa knowledge at experience mo...at syempre higit sa lahat sa mga connections mo dito...para makapagpasa ka personally sa companies na may hiring through your connections... :-)

**Note, marami dito nagsisimula talaga sa mababang pwesteo, ika nga nila e "downer", you start from the bottom...marami rin naman na swerte at nakakuha agad ng magandang work...meron rin naman mga pinoy nagcocold calling at nagvovolunteer work sa isang company na gusto nilang applyan, volunteer, meaning walang bayad....just to gain some "Australian experience" kase nga some companies requires australian experience rin which is BS hahaha

in summary, mas okay kung bago ka pumunta dito e magaapply apply ka na, say mga a month before ka magpunta dito...gamitin mong address e ung address na titirhan mo rito sa CV mo para alam nila na nasa OZ ka na...about the phone number naman, siguro kahit hinde mo na muna ilagay ung philipine number mo...hehehe

***Maraming work dito sa Australia...basta wag ka lang mamimili...strike lang ng strike...and mind you, some pinoys here e working as casuals at cash in hand ang sahod...at nakakapagbayad ng weekly rent just by doing that... :-)
