@rencerencerence online ako ng submit then may checklist na binigay sila sakin. Sa pagkakaalala ko ang andun ay:
    1. TOR
    2. Identification (this kunin mo pag magpapaassess ka na kse may validity yung pag certify)
    3. Syllabus
    4. CPA Certificate and Exam results

Do you have to take the exam to be a CPA here? I have accounting degree but didn't get the chance to take CPA exams in the Phils before we moved here in Australia ages ago, but I'm working in accounting field. Thanks

Yes. But you need to submit documentations first to cpaa/icaa whether you will need to study first/take foundation exams or can directly proceed to professional exams.

Thanks vhoythoy. How difficult are the exams for foundation and professional levels?

I haven't contacted my previous school but I wonder if they have it.

SYD_CPA, good luck. How did you come up with the syllabus? Did you request them from your school or just statutory declaration?

    Thanks all

I've heard exams are not too difficult though i don't experience it personally. Second hand info lang, kasi i have lots of friends/ ex-colleagues who took/currently taking CPA exams here in SG/ and already CPA Australia. Basta focus and put some time to study kasi makapal ung books for each sections/subjects din. So depende how fast you learned. Difficulty naman mahirap i gauge depende sa bawat tao, but if you passed CPA sa pinas then you knew what it takes na.

Kung CA naman target mo, generally mag aral ka muna ng 2 required subjects Aus Corp Law/ Taxation (unless you're acctg grad in Australia) before you can proceed with the exams/ mentoring and capstone. But ofcourse you need to submit assessment din muna sa ICAA naman.

Syllabus mukhang di naman mahirap makuha kasi may records naman ung University nyan. I've got mine sa PUP sta mesa, batch 1998-2002 (so more than 12 years ago pa) buti naman naitago nila. Kapal nun, pina photocopy ko nalang. Reserved ko lang in the future kasi wala pa naman ako pag gamitan sa ngaun.

Thanks vhoythoy for the info. I'm hoping that I could target CPA here. Kung makapal yung books in preparation for the exam yun ang worry ko sa sobrang busy ng schedule everyday. Anyway, will give it a try though sayang yung panahon and opportunities na rin.

Goodluck. It will open more doors in the future plus self fulfillment na din. I will upgrade din once i landed in Australia early next year.

Hi po! Subject to our migration visa (189), I received a positive migration assessment from ICAA. If we compare the costs po kasi:

    ICAA:
    AUD 2,000 (1,000 x 2 subjects- core)
    AUD 1,047 (349 membership fee x 3 years)
    AUD 6,125 (1,225 x 5 subjects - professional)
    TOTAL AUD 9,172

    CPAA
    AUD 160 (one-time assessment fee)
    AUD 930 (310 membership fee x 3 years)
    AUD 6,540 (1090 x 6 subjects - professional)
    TOTAL AUD 7,630

Pero in the long run, I want to work in private.

Any thoughts/advice po is highly appreciated. TIA

Hi, it depends on your long term goals. Most (if not all) of my excolleagues and junior staff in previous audit firm here in Singapore, and who worked previously in mid tier firm in Ph with around 3 years exp sa audit eh pumasa naman sa assessment ng CPAA and got the ASA (Associate membership), on which they are currently completing CPA exams na/ some already completed na.

Employers/ recruiters indicate naman CA/CPA sa mga jobsites so parang walang differences in terms of qualifications, besides its just a qualifications it is still you who can make difference in your career/ jobs and not your qualifications though it will open more doors/opportunities. Some of my friends/ex-colleagues proceed with CPA australia as it much easier route. Meaning, you can proceed with professional exams na agad. They have limited time kasi and doesn't need qualifications nman talaga to boost their career as they have years of experiences na din (public practice/commercial) and some were already managers. CPA Australia also have lots of members globally and good marketing/branding plus tie up with different organisations. While in CA, you need to study, took exams, the mentoring stage (i am not sure whether they will acknowledge my 9 years exp in audit firms as what CA/CPA canada did), there capstone thing. Pero both might take you 3-4 years din talaga to complete depends.

For me i will proceed with CA Australia route, but its my personal choice and self fulfillment na rin. I am not expecting too much impact sa career ko kahit makuha ko yung qualifications because its a different thing. I also sent my assessment (Oseas qualifications sa ICAA), and yes i need to take/study 2 subjects. Also, i emailed some Uni in Melbourne for the 2 subjects and the cheapest is Melbourne Ins of Technology which cost around 1850 aud per subject (to be completed in 1 trimester roughly 3 months). Some offer cloud/ online study like Deakin pero medyo mahal $3000+ per subject.

I like it mostly because of its alliance with GAA (including the AICPA - CPA US which only recognise CA Aus) and the Graduate Diploma degree. So if ever someday, just in case lang, sa US/Canada pala ang destiny ko eh madali magconvert dahil sa mutual agreement/ ties plus ma upgrade pa ng graduate diploma ung BS Accountancy ko sa PUP. Also, there is perceptions even in forums/ accountants sa Aussie na mas prestigious ang CA but ofcourse it is subjective. In additions, bihira lang ang pinoy na kilala kong CA, so parang gusto ko din yung iba din.

Bottom line, cost is my least concern as parehas lang naman silang mahal. Its for your future plans/ goals. You can work naman in commercial/ public practice whether you are CA or CPA.

    Goodluck

Wow! Thanks for the detailed reply @vhoythoy ! You are always a great help po.. :) You are right, cost is least of my concern talaga dapat. Siguro based sa sinabi nyo, as for me CPAA is ok per for my husband na plan ituloy ang corporate, mas ok ang CA. Hehe.. We will still think this through and hopefully makaabot sa next sem.

By the way, I read the website of ICAA, magkakaroon na ng Chartered Accountants Foundation (CAF) starting January 2015 wherein you don't need to take the 2 subjects sa universities but sa kanila na lang directly parang sa CPAA. May choice ka either mag-enroll ka which is online lang (AUD 1000) or exam lang as long accredited nila yung employer mo. :)

Yup sa akin either the 2 subjects or do a graduate conversion programs then they gave me 2 years to complete it. Then may send sila list of accredited universities. Tapos recently they merge with CA new zealand so tawag sa kanila is CA Aus & New Zealand na.

With regard to this, di pala makukuha yan CAF subjects unless you are holders of "non acctg degrees" na equivalent sa au/nz degree. So need to study tlaga sa university, no choice. ICAA confirmed that via email to me
