@Galtraveller, oh sorry to hear that. Just ignore them and do your business. Generally Aussies are more happy and friendly compared to Kiwis. The Maoris (like the abbos here) there are not so welcoming and lagi nilang victim ang asians when it come to snatching bags you are still lucky coz nakakarinig ka lang ng salita. And I've had travel around aussie and never encountered anything bad.

Actually lahat ng encounters ko with Aussies were nice and very helpful sila sa akin.

Madami nako napuntahan asian countries, and currently working in one, pero never ko naranasang mabastos ng ganun... Kaya kapag na-tyempuhan ka talaga...

Pero the best way to deal with it is umiwas na lang sa any altercation... yun kasi hanap ng mga ganyang tao... yung patulan sila.

2006 - 2nd time sa Melbourne. Me lasing nakasuit pa ang lalaki ha naglalakad ako pauwi an dami ko pa naman dala nun at uphill sya pinagtritripan ako di ko maintindihan pinagsasabi hinaharangan daan ko. Buti na lang at inawat sya kasama nya at pinadaan ako.

Another day, me mga teenagers sa kotse sinisigawan ako habang nagdradrive e naglalakad lang ako.

Muka kase akong inchik at maliit pa ako baka kala Koreana ako o Japon.

wala pa akong na-experience na racism directed towards me. but i have experienced racism directed towards other ethnicities. both nangyari sa bus stop. first one, a car slowed down a young man shouted ebola! to an old african lady. the latest was a few days after the Charlie Hebdo attack, a group of young men and women stopped their car at the other side of the road shouted ISIS at a middle eastern lady wearing a burqa.

Pero given a chance and a healthy conversation is started, for sure hit yan, mahilig sila makipag kwentuhan, mahilig makipagtawanan, sa loob ng office bago mag start ang araw, hi hello, kamustahan, kwentuhan, side jokes and etc, then kapag idle time ganun din, minsan ikaw ang iiwas at mahilig sila makipag kwentuhan. On Fridays, tatanungin ka kung ano plans mo for the weekend, mag susuggest sila kapag sinabi mo wala ka gagawin.

Special events, holiday, games, for example cricket, soccer, tennis, footy, make sure updated ka specially yung highlights at for sure yun ang simula ng isang magandang conversation.

Ok din nman exp ko sa australia, people are happier and friendlier than dito sa sg. Ang racist nman dito sa lugar na to is more on keyboard warriors lang or kapag nakatalikod/ indirectly kasi takot din sila sa harapan at comfrontations at least sa case/ experience ko.

been in Sydney for almost 5 years and have not heard of pinoys being racially discriminated. but I have witnessed once, a black woman in the train being treated differently by police patrolling the trains. they were inspecting the train tickets, I showed mine and they didn't even had a closer look but the black woman was asked for an ID and took a while before the 3 policemen moved to the other passengers.

Australians are generally nice and tolerant people.. at least most of them.

True. Aussies are really friendly and nice. I'm actually snobbish to strangers or people I don't know. (which I think most Pinoys do din naman as safety precautions not to be hypnotized my kidnappers/holduppers/etc). My boyfriend would scold me all the time I failed to greet the people back or look and smile at them. Lol well I'm learning. Unleashing the friendliness inside me. Haha medyo napractice ko lang talaga yung advice dito sa Manila na "don't talk to the strangers".. lol
