@TotoyOZresident totoo ba na it's not good to send your CV everywhere? ahahaha... i read from some discussions na it sends a bad vibe daw to a recruiter if you apply for all job postings relevant to you... or is this is just paranoid thoughts?

Kasi unahan ang mga recruiter na mag forward ng iyong CV sa client nila (employer) kapag qualified ka. Kaya they discourage sa mga applicants na mag padala ulit ng CV sa ibang recruiter kapag alam mo na halos kaparehas ng details ang job ads likes location and job discription. May iba kasi employer kumukuha ng isa o dalawang recruitment agency to fill in they needs minsan naman mag nag rerepresent na ibang recruitment agency dahil may nakuha sila na mas qualified sa hinahanap nila. I dont know how much ang bayad sa recruitment agency kapag nakuha ang ni refer nila na applicant.

For me the best is the more you have connections the better. I mean kung marami ka send na CV sa lahat ng recruiment agency the better. Dahil may record ka sa kanila at kung may opportunities madali nila makita ang pangalan mo yun ang mga tinatawag na head hunter. Maganda din lahat ng recruitment agency sa field mo i add mo sa linkedin. At as much as possible mga colleague mo add mo rin you never know baka refer ka nila kung may job oppening. Kung may alam ka naman na company website na pasok sa work mo visit their website at mag send ng cover letter at CV sa job section kahit wala o may oppening sa kanila tatanung ka lang naman eh malay mo natsamabahan mo bago nila i post sa job site.

For me here in Australia theres nothing wrong about asking your colleague to help you kung may job oppening. Dito naman ang mga employer open sila sa ganun sa referral lalo na kung magaling sa work ang nag refer sayo pero dadaan ka pa rin sa proseso. Kung newly migrant ka theres nothing wrong also to inform your previous company sa Pinas or abroad na may branch dito sa Australia. Inform to your previous boss or admin na your looking for work at magtatanung ka kung baka may alam sila na oppening sa australia branch kasi new migrant ka.

@cchamyl sabi ni hubby pag wala ka pa daw sa au better wag muna mag apply lalo sa mga head hunters kasi may list sila ng mga applicants. pag nalaman nila wala ka sa au tatanggalin ka nila sa list nila ang they will block your emails, so pag nasa au ka na and mag susubmit ka ng application sa same headhunter di na nila makikita yun kasi naka block na email mo sa kanila eh.

sis... d ka naman nag-apply directly sa kanila d ba.. it is through job sites... and i dnt think it has any bearing... i've tried to add recruiters in my linkedin profile and they have been nothing but nice when i send them emails. since gusto ko maging positive... hahaha... i will block those kind of thoughts na lang... salamat sis!

in fairness sis ha.. ang bilis nakahanap ng work ni hubby! anong gnawa nya? baka pwede ka naman magbigay ng tips @moonwitchbleu

@cchamyl pagdating nya ng sydney nag update lng cya ng contact no. and address nya tapos marami na komontak sa kanya. before cya pumunta aussie hindi talaga cya nag submit nga application nya sa mga head hunters. ganon din naman sinabi ng isa sa headhunter na nag interview sa kanya, may mini.maintain sila na list of applicants per skill na in order pa. sino yung mas gusto nila yun ang una nila ibibigay sa mga clients nila. if wala ka sa aussie tatanggalin ka nila sa list daw, ganon sabi. pero try na rin mag apply may mga na hire naman na wala pa sa aussie. swerte2x lang din yan eh.

Wala ako dyan pards mga 3 hours travel away ako sa lugar mo. Tyaga tyaga ka mag hanap ng work. Okay naman ang economy ng australia ngayun. Balitaan mo na lang kami kung may work kana. Try mo muna sa mga work tulad ng customer services like sa shop or restaurant habang naghahanap ka ng fulltime work. Prepare to meet new friends Goodluck and God bless..

Agree. That's what happened to my husband also. The day he updated his Linkedin was the day he was contacted by headhunters (Wednesday). Tapos he was scheduled for interview na with two clients immediately (Friday afternoon and Monday morning.) After the interview with second client, Monday lunch, he was informed by the headhunter that both wanted him. First week namin yun dito sa Melbourne. Pinamili na siya and yung pinili niya gusto na siya magstart agad pero siya na nagsabi pwede the next week na kasi kakarating lang namin, maghahanap pa kami ng permanent na titirhan.

Pag qualified ka talaga, excited pa headhunter ma-meet ka and ipa-interview ka agad sa client nila.

Kasi siguro naaamoy na nila yung commission nila. :P

Hindi din siya nagsend ng application from the Philippines kasi hindi daw pinapansin yun pag wala pa sa Oz. Preferred talaga nila andito na para kung impressive, interview agad.

Where to start?
check what type of visa is appropriate for you and see if you will qualify. They usually aim the skilled visa first before going thru other routes. Visa information is on this website:

Agency or not?
If you can afford it, why not? It will save you trouble on reading tons of document and forum posts. I guess majority of the people here in the forum go through the visa application on their own to save some $$$$
