Question lang with regards to Interest earned from Savings sa AU Bank

Assuming I have “not permanently” moved to OZ (i.e. I am still offshore and not moved permanently to Oz)... but I already have money in the bank (e.g. NAB Migrant Account) earning interest…

    Paano kaya ang Tax nun?
I would not worry about it , you will see a tax deductions on you account statement ... and dont worry inde naman ganun kalaki yun

    Google for Everything !!!

@TasBurrfoot uhm sobra namang sarcastic ni kuya. lol. Parang POM. I meant wala bang interest bangko sa sg or sa pinas? Wa'g itago sa cabinet yung pera kasi yan 0%. Siguro naman ok din interest sa sg banks? Siguro naman nasa bangko yung pero nyo and wala sa ilalim ng kama? Common sense ata.
    @wizardofoz
Check first how much is the interest and how much is the withholding tax and bank fees kasi it may just balance it out. Like i had a separate account with bankwest. I made that account to save for certain goals. Pero in the end i had to close it down kasi the interest was cancelled out by the bank fees and the tax. Yan lng po yung sentiment ko. But nothing wrong with putting your money in au ahead of your move while mahina aud. Bow.

you are not considered Australian Permanent Resident for tax purposes if you have not stayed in Australia for more than ''nnn'' days.

You are not required to file an Income tax return.

nnn days were 189 days in 2013. Not sure if this changed.

    sample scenario Juan Dela Cruz

Same thing as Philippines, kapag nasa SG ka at nagbakasyon sa pinas, do you file ITR? samantalang citizen ka naman ng pinas.

Hi! Pa clarify lang friends- same situation ako.mag initial entry palang this June 2016 then exit agad to work in Germany since i have a good offer doon and cguro might evaluate if i need to go to AU after a yr or so.Filipino ako and magfile OFW para no tax in PH. Questions:
    (1) do you advise na kumuha ako ng TFN sa initial entry ko?
    (2) do i need to declare my german income sa tax submission ko in aussie?
    (3) do i need to declare aa australia or any government group nila that i will be working in germany so prng ofw form perspective ni australia?

    Thanks!

If you are not in au kahit pr na and may tfn na even if working in sg or ph... You don't have to pay tax. Double taxation only works if you live in au and still receive income from abroad.
Let say may property ka in pnas and you receive rent pero yung pera naman stays in pinas. You don't need to declare that kasi the money will not be reflected in au. You are also already taxed sa pinas. There is no way for au to check ur income in your home country if d naman pumapasok sa au bank account mu.
BUT if it is deposited in au and you live in au then you will get taxed. Once the money gets into au..then double taxation will apply kasi part of your income na sya. Kaya double taxation kasi nag bayad ka ng tax sa pinas..pag dating sa au ng pera mu may tax ulit.
Money (baon) you bring in from sg/ pinas as a new migrant is not taxed kasi savings yan and not income anymore.
Like si hubby, he was in au for about half a year but he was not working. He was doing a course. He has a tfn and we asked the accountant if he needs to file for tax. The accountant said no kasi he is not working even though he did live here in au no need to pay tax. Same principle will go for unemployed and students. They don't pay income tax if they have no income in au.
Now, si hubby had to go home kasi he has work back home. during tax time i asked the accountant does he need to file for tax. Accountant said, no need kasi he has not been in au for more than a couple of weeks (holiday) for the tax year. Si hubby is p.r. Of au but hindi sya tax resident kasi he does not live in au.

@kangarookoala - Thanks sa pagkaexplain, binuhay ko ang thread to ask something. What if po, if yung dineposit from SG/Pinas to AU eh nagastos kagad, will it be tax?. And yung money(baon), is that one time na dalhin para hindi matax?. Papano kung from time to time eh nagdedeposit thru internet banking to AU account. Thanks!.

@ilovestrawberry, here is what I know..
    (1) do you advise na kumuha ako ng TFN sa initial entry ko?
    - Optional
    (2) do i need to declare my german income sa tax submission ko in aussie?
    - if you're planning to transfer your german income to australia, you should declare. Take note of the word "Transfer". If your income stays on a german bank or watsoever sa germany. You don't need to declare.
    (3) do i need to declare aa australia or any government group nila that i will be working in germany so prng ofw form perspective ni australia?
    -No need
