I heard may mga bagong options for English test. Dun sa mga nakapagtake na ng IELTS and TOEFL and PTE pacompare naman yung difficulty.

I took the PTE Academic last Feb 14. I cannot tell kung mas mahirap sya pero ang problem ko kasi sa IELTS is writing....manually. At least sa PTE Academic computerized so nadalian ako sa writing. Speaking is more difficult though.

@whizler Oo sayang yung Speaking ko kasi kinapos ako ng 2 points to get the 20 points for English. Pero ok na rin kasi nasa 65 na total points ko. Dito sa Seoul, South Korea ako kumuha. Mas mura sya ng konti sa IELTS. Price is around Php9000. Nag-exam ako ng Feb 14 ng umaga tapos I got the result around 9pm that day so mabilis talaga sya.

hi @kimchiboi, can you somehow enlighten us about how the exam goes? how many items in each category and the level of difficulty compare to ielts. TIA

@shye428: Actually wala syang fix number for each category. Meron syang alloted number of time per section and the computer will randomly assign a number of questions from the test bank. For example sa case ko in Writing, I got 3 items in summarizing and 1 essay question. Some people get 2 items in summarizing and 2essay. I suggest you try the free offline practice test sa site ng PTE Academic. Note that the essay writing is only 20 minutes each.

Nakakabuhay talaga ng loob yung mga nakukuhang scores ng nagtake ng PTE Academic after giving so many attempts in IELTS.. Dun sa ibang forum, yung iba more than 3x na laging short ng .5 sa IELTS then nakakalusot pag dating sa PTE. Hays! Feeling hopeful na ako from the time nalaman ko to. I almost give up na talaga Lol

@filipinacpa : Base sa experience ko kasi, medyo subjective yung IELTS in terms of grading since it is dependent on human scorer specially sa writing and speaking. Tapos kung hindi ka maganda magsulat kagaya ko...medyo mahirap pumasa sa writing....

@kimchiboi ako po twice na nagtake ng ielts and lagi short ng 0.5.

1st take: L-7.5, R-6.5, W-7.5, S-7.5
2nd take: L-8, R-8.5, W-7.5, S-6.5

same level of difficult ba ung summarizing and essay question? kasi if not, parang lugi ata kung mas mahirap ung summarizing than essay.

For example, you are required to write a summary of a lecture sa listening, tapos you are required to re-tell a lecture you just listen sa speaking.

sa tingin ko same level of difficulty lang...mas prefer ko actually ang essay...but for me, mas ok ang design ng PTE Academic. Tapos some categories are overlapping. For example, you are required to write a summary of a lecture sa listening, tapos you are required to re-tell a lecture you just listen sa speaking.

have u tried taking the IELTS? based on your experience, did u find PTE easier than IELTS?

@Xiaomau82: Yes I took IELTS last year. Honestly, I don't think PTE Academic is easier...in fact I found its speaking and listening section more difficult. However, that is not my problem area...it is writing. I have a terrible penmanship so I need to write slowly to make it more readable...I guess that is the reason why I have 6.5 in reading. For PTE Academic, it is easy to write, erase, re-arrange, insert words.

base sa experience mo. sa tingin mo, ilang days before exam pinaka OK na gawin ung sample test at scored test. kasi d ba 1 beses lang un. baka kasi pag sobrang aga ko gawin ung test baka malimutan ko agad. Ok na ba ang 1 week before ng actual exam?

Note that the time pressure in PTE Academic is more severe than IELTS and you cannot go back to items once you move to the next question. Kung nagprepare ka na sa IELTS before I think purchasing the silver kit will do.

@oyams90 Yung online sample test or booster is only one set so kunin mo lang sya one day otherwise sayang lang. yung scored practice test, 2 set yun, set A and B.
