Decided to move to AU with my wife and son (Visa 190 content) - HELP!

RJ_EreseAURJ_EreseAU MandaluyongPosts: 8Member
**** Hi hope you take time to read and help me out, this is such a bold move and i am scared to death but i need this to work for the better future of my LO :)

First, apologies for the long read. I recently have decided to move to Australia and just started doing my research on how best i could enter AU. Just need some advice before i jumpstart my journey to the land down undah :D

Facts about me:
* 2-3 years, worked as a call Centre/bpo agent
* 6 years (and presently working) as a Developer Programmer (261312), usually business/windows applications and ERP development.
* Legally married with a 4 month baby
* Currently working for an Australian company based here in Manila (not sure if this will help or not) hence has a bit of experience dealing with local oz's. well at least over the phone lol
* has a friend in vic/melb
* i still have a 457 visa laying around but not sure if that is multiple entry and not sure if that will conflict with this process

Some of the questions that i have

- Will be choosing 190 that requires 60 points. Based on DIAC, i will potentially get 60 because
* 30pts for age ( I am now 31)
* English ability: do i need a band of 7 higher to get the 10 points? My job code requires only 7 on all band for the live in Victoria site.
* on skilled employment 15pts, i mark myself with 5pts for being employed for at least 3 years then 10 points for at least 5 years. Is this correct? Am i allow to stack points in this section?
* Qualifications: 10pts if passed with ACS
* Nomination: 5 pts if VIC SS will pass
Is my computation correct? :) If not, does it mean that i won’t be able to enter AU at all? Not seen all visa types but most requires 60pts.

- with the 190 visa, by the time i lodge it, since i will declare my wife (above 18) and my son, will this add to the current cost of the Visa even though i plan to get in AU by myself first.
- would VIC as a state require financial declaration? i have read in the 190 thread that someone mentioned that this is not the case but better to confirm
- How much cash do i need for the whole application? i estimate that the applications alone will be at around 150k if i am not mistaken (ielts, assessment, visa cost)
- Again, how much cash do i need in order to survive upon initial entry?

my plan of action and timeline for this journey:

- take my IELTS 2nd quarter of this year.
- take the ACS assessment on the 2nd quarter of the year
- Then file EOI as soon as aforementioned steps are accomplished

Many thanks, RJ

    for your action plan, i suggest na unahin mo po ang ACS assessment para to give you an idea if there is a need na maghabol ng points sa ielts kasi may mga deductions na ginagawa si ACS sa working experience para magkaron ng equivalent bachelor's degree to get 15 pts sa education..

    Ang alam ko mahigpit ang Victoria so, I reckon you have to have more than 60pts para mapili to have an advantage this is not a requirement pero mas mataas ang chance pag mataas ang points kasi sa lahat ng states na nag ssponsor si VIC ang pinaka choosy. hehehe.

    Agree na unahin mo muna ACS assesment as soon as you can. Only from there malalaman mo yung mga need mo gawin.

    Lastly, 150k for a family of 3 is not enough. I applied last 2013 and I was a solo applicant back then and I spent significantly more than 150k. Yung visa fee palang for one person (main applicant) that time was $3,649.55 = Php 147,866. Hope that helps.

    @gernaez @wizz - thanks sa tips. In terms of point allocation, tama ba ung pagkakabilang ko?

    VIC palang ang na check ko na state that has Developer Programmer as part of the list ng SOL, just checked SA pero wala ung job code ko. any other state you peeps can suggest na mejo low cost of living and mas mataas ang survival rate nateng mga migrants?

    additional question: may nakausap akong local aussie na HR manager and nabangit nya na isang option ay mag apply muna ako ng work dito sa pinas then let the company sponsor me for a 457 visa. sabi ko hindi ko makukuha family ko pag ganon, sabi nya mali ako pwede pa din daw, him being a local, syempre naniwala ako so was thingking of this option as well. What do you guys think?

    I'm sure marami ng nakaisip na mag apply muna ng work before leaving pinas then going to OZ but not sure if applicable sya sa case ko since gusto ko isama/isunod ung family ko at least within the year of my stay.

    yes pwede mo isama ang family mo sa 457 visa. kung meron willing magsponsor sayo ng 457 it will save you heaps of $$$ then eventually mag apply ka nalang ng PR while you're here. :)

    mga sir/madam, would appreciate inputs from the others too :)

    also, parang mas in demand ang skillset ko sa nsw kaso hindi ba mas mataas ang cost of living doon or sa syd lang ang mataas?

    thanks!

    thanks JC, but if makakuha ako within this year ng 457, do you think it is still a good route para makapasok lang ng AU? ung dating visa ko pala is not 457, nagkamali, 456 lang pala lol

    ang issue ko sa 457 parang nababasa ko na hirap sila mag PR and may constraints ang 457, like staying sa company for 2 years, so, if nag kataon lang na panget ang employer, wala ka magawa kundi mag stay at mag tiis, which, i think is inevitable regardless of visa, balita ko 2-3 years na tiisan talaga pag lapag ng AU

    Pag 457 kana, there are two ways to get a PR visa... You can wait for your employer to sponsor you for PR..

    Or apply k ng sarili mo, assuming na nasa list pa rin ang skill mo.. Mas mabilis ito at mas mataas ang points mo kasi meron kana local exp.. Priority ito ng mga ibang states..

    Hi TS, whats your bachelors degree, if you don't mind me asking? You might be unnecessarily stressing over 457 when you could possibly go the 189/190 route which are way better than 457.

    Student Visa 573 (SVP) Timeline:
    28 Nov 2013 - submitted int'l student application to Victoria Uni

    @lock_code2004 - thanks :)

    @appledeuce - Bachelor in Commercial Science Major in Computer Science, graduated last 2005.

    @JCsantos - thanks again men.

    honestly, kaya ko lang na consider ung 457 dahil sa pera. May part pa sa akin na takot mapunta sa losing side. mejo malaking pera din ang involved sa visa application kung tayo as an individual lang (lalo na ako na tiga middle class lamang) ang mag apply. pero ika nga nung nung nag sabi sa akin, dapat pag sinimulan ko na ung application, sobrang sigurado na ako, no looking back saka lakasan talaga ng loob.

    ang worry ko kasi (which nabasa ko lang din sa iba, at nabangit din sakin ng ibang kaibigan ko sa oz) eh hindi ako makahanap agad ng work, i think 1-4 months is fine pero paano kung hindi talaga ako ma hire?

    Inaaral ko pa ung specific IT job market ko (Microsoft Dynamics AX developer) siguro takot lang talaga ako sa risk.

    In terms of odd jobs, how "odd" could it get? I mean, basta disente naman kahit paano ung work i am ok with it pang local exposure lang.

    so TS, here's what I got from the details you have provided:

    Age: 30
    Qualification: 15 (Bachelors AQF equivalent)
    Experience: 10 (between 5 and 8 years)
    = 55 points

    You can apply for a state nomination to get 5 additional points, or sit an English Proficiency test (IELTS, TOEFL, PTE) to get 10 or 20 additional points, which will take your total points to 65/75 (sureball

    You can go the 457 route if you don't want to 'gamble' visa application fee, but eventually you still need to apply for a PR and pay the application fees if you don't get one via Employer Nomination Scheme. The thing with visa application fees is that they tend to increase over time so consider that as well. More importantly, the migration rules may have become stricter by the time you decide to apply for PR which may make it harder for you to obtain a PR than applying now. There had been talks on proposals to remove ICT occupations from the SOL because the supply is becoming way more than the demand, so think about it.

    @appledeuce - pasok ba ako dito?

    From DIAC - "At least a bachelor degree from an Australian educational institution or other degree of a recognised standard" for 15 points

    not sure dun sa clause na "OTHER DEGREE OF A RECOGNISED STANDARD" baka hindi recognised ang local uni's dito sa pinas? kala ko para ma acquire mo yung points jan eh you should have studied in an AU uni kaya hindi ko inaward sarili ko in that section (please correct me if i am wrong)

    i think ung 457 is a safe but LONGER route coz in the end mag apply pa din naman ako ng PR visa, so lakasan nalang ng loob at madaming aral, i think we will go for a 190/189 visa. :)

    If you are thinking to bring your family in AU then I suggest you find a sponsor for a 457 visa.

    May visa ka na , may work ka pa....this is risk free, trouble free and cheapest way. but remember your visa is only valid as long as you work for the company who sponsored you.
    you dont need to get 60 points but you still need to prove your competent (ACS assessment, English competency, education).

    you can bring 'dependents' and will have the same visa as yours. Your wife will be allowed to work for any company (khit naka 457 dependent visa sya).
    4 years max ang 457 and can be renewed for another 4 years (twice).

    From 457 visa, there are heaps of options for permanent residency.

    see my signature.

    Hello guys i badly need your help. I am planning to apply for a 190 visa but i dont how to start. I was assessed by AIMS as medical laboratory technician, ielts band score 7. I already applied in skill select and as i understood i am legible to apply for 190. What will i do next? Is it necessary to have a show money to be able to apply for this visa?

    @steve Visa 190 is a state sponsored visa, once EOI is submitted, contact directly the state that needs your skills for sponsorship( each state has its occupations list). On the application for state soonsorship, the EOI number is needed and once the state sponsorship is approved, DIAC will invite you to apply for the visa 190...you can claim additional 5 points as a state sponsored applicant on a 190 visa..
    As a guide, please refer below kung paano ang application:
    1. Secure a positive skills assessment( meron ka naman)
    2. take IELTS
    3. Create EOI( make sure you claim the right points)
    4. apply for state sponsorship ( kung wala sa SOL ang skills mo but nasa CSOL, or kung short ka ng 5 points to meet the minimum 60 points required)
    5. If state sponsorship is approved, DIAC will automatically invite you to apply for 190 visa
    6. Visa application, payment and attach supporting docs to support your claims on points( may list naman sa website)
    7. A Case officer will be assigned to process your application. You can do your medicals kahit di pa ask ng CO including police cert of all countries lived for the past 10 years. Pag may needed docs, CO will contact you directly.
    8. Wait for approval
