Subclass 189 qualified? Please help.

Hello,

I would just like to ask for your wise opinion if I am eligible to apply for Subclass 189 (Skilled Independent).

I am 23 years old.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology here in Philippines.
I have worked as a high school computer teacher for 5 months, I basically taught programming to high school students;
then I worked as an Applications Developer for 2 years and 2 months;
and I work as a Business Analyst for 6 months now.
I've scored IELTS and got 7.5 as average.
I also passed the credentialled community language qualifications.

I'm planning to get my skills assessed for Analyst Programmer, but before I spend I'd like to ask if you think I'm eligible enough for this visa. Thank you very much!

Proficient English - 10pts
Employment, 3 years, I'm not sure if all the jobs I have are closely related to Analyst Programmer but if they are it's - 5pts
Bachelor's Degree - 15pts
Credentialled community language qualifications - 5pts

In total I have 60pts. I am worried though as they say that ACS sometimes takes up some of the work experience--for purpose I don' understand--which then gives me less than 3 years employment. Would you know that system of ACS?

@msbecca Yung age kasi 25-32 ata yung 30 pts. tapos yung credentialled comm college 5pts. Sa IELTS, you need to have at least 7 for all modules. Try mo muna magpa assess sa ACS

@msbecca Yes usually 2 years ang dinededuct nila pag related sa IT ang course. In my case naman since im an ECE, 4 years ang deduction. Yung IELTS mo ba lahat ng module 7 ka pataas?

Eto po ang nakalagay sa ACS assessment guide:

Bachelor Degree or Higher with an ICT Major
- If your degree is assessed as having an ICT major which is closely related to your nominated
occupation, you will require 2 years relevant work experience completed within the past 10
years or 4 years relevant work experience completed anytime in your past work history
(whichever date is earlier) to meet the suitability criteria.

- If your degree is assessed as having an ICT major which is NOT closely related to your
nominated occupation, you will require 4 years relevant work experience completed anytime in
your past work history to meet the suitability criteria.

Bachelor Degree or Higher with an ICT Minor
- If your degree is assessed as having an ICT minor which is closely related to your nominated
occupation, you will require 5 years relevant work experience completed in the past 10 years
or 6 years relevant work experience completed anytime in your past work history (whichever
date is earlier) to meet the suitability criteria.

Ang highest na pwede mo makuha sa assessment is Bachelor Degree or Higher with an ICT major and it will require 2 years relevant working experience meaning idededuct yung 2 years na yun sa work experience mo para maconsider as bachelors degree so 1 year nalang yung pwede mo maclaim pag naglodge ka for visa application. If that is the case, magkukulang ka na ng 5 points. This is how I understand it and not 100% sure about this. It would be better if you will read the assessment guide thoroughly. Here's the link:

@msbecca Seriously, if you are willing to take the IELTS and confident that you can get 8+ on all modules then take that route. if not, wait mo na lang mag 25 ka kaso, hindi natin sure kung pasok pa ang nominated occupation natin or by that time ano na kaya ang rules

Gaano katagal ang validity ng skills assessment sa ACS? I mean pag napasa mo yun, good for ilang months/years sya valid?

A skills assessment is only valid until the expiry date specified on the assessment, or when a period of three years from the date of issue has elapsed, whichever occurs first.

Yung ACS is valid for 24 months.

Yung ACS nagbabawas ng work experiences. Like those 9 years nang systems analyst binawasan nila ng 4 years. You need to have a solid experience at your nominated skills. Well maybe it depends narin. case to case basis siguro. You can try to be assessed by ACS but it will be risky to waste $$$. Kung makapasa ka sa ACS, your next issue is the DIAC naman, you have to satisfy din their requirements of having "solid work experience in nominated skills" iba kasi opinion ng ACS at DIAC. And take note, This year puno na ceiling ng Business Analyst & Systems Analyst, mapupuno na rin Software Engineer. Ganun karami nag aaply for those skills. You can wait till July pag nag open na ulit yung slots. But there is no guarantee na nasa SOL pa yung mga occupations na yun (if AUS are still in short of those occupation by that time). They call the visa "Skilled Independent Visa" for a reason, they need experienced and skilled people.

You can increase your points by, increasing your age to 27 (hehe) or improving your IELTS or wait for few more years to gain experience. Bata ka pa naman. Enjoy mo muna Pinas, or try SG, Dubai.

Thank you po! Yung nga din sabi nila e, bata pa daw. I just need to be able to help my family more sana. Yung Kuya ko nandun naman, kaya lang sa Sydney kasi sya so di rin nya ko pwede sponsoran, kasi for regional areas lang yung sponsorship diba?

Yung boyfriend ko naman nandun din, PR na sya dun. Pero ayoko naman din kasi pumunta dun with fiancee visa kasi we're not ready to get married anytime soon pa naman. So I don't know talaga ano mas magandang way. Pero thanks sainyo!

@pilot_marker question lang, may instance na ba na nareject because iba ang assessment ni DIAC kay ACS on your work and qualifications???

@J_Oz di ko rin alam. Haha. Wala naman ako database. Hehe. But ACS and DIAC have independent opinions. DIAC has the last say. Minsan lang di tumugma yung dates, or di maka provide ng other supporting docs, kasi mas mahigpit ang DIAC in terms of technicality. While yung iba naman binawasa ng ACS ng experience, binigay ng ACS like 7.5 years na dapat 9.5 years, hinahayaan nila kung 8 years exp cnlaim m pa din sa EOI. Minsan ok lang. Case to case basis. Talaga. Depends on your CO
