Isnt tht illegal though??? Like is it not a violation by the employers if they are a legit business to hire tourists? Tourist have no tax numbers eh. So dba tax evasion yan??

Maybe babysitting or dog walking ok.

Takot mag hire ng tourist visa ang employer kasi illegal at vigilant ang community ng Australia kapag nalaman na tourist visa ka at nag work ka. Irereport ka sa immigration, deretso ipa deport ka agad at pati employer mo may multa pati business nya baka isarado pa. Ban kana to enter Australia. Better to apply Visa na allow to work. You need a Tax File Number when you work in a legitimate company. Companies ask you about your visa but only a few would require you to actually submit a copy of your visa. They do not even ask for a copy of your transcript and other school records (both small and big companies based on my experiences and from what I hear from colleagues here). They just rely on your resume, your interview and their background check if they conduct one. Those who would require are normally those who had bad experiences of hiring illegal aliens in the past without their knowledge.

If you can provide a Tax File Number and you have the guts of lieing about your visa status, maybe you can get away with it for a period of time until they find it out. Once found out, you will be deported right away and would be banned from returning to Australia for a specific period of time. Immigration agents raid establishments who they think are harboring illegal aliens.

Merun aqng narinig na kwento from my dad, that one of his frnd my kakilala dito na Aussie citizen na ngaun. But he first enter OZ as tourist visa on the purpose of to look for a job. He don't have any certificates or any documents on his hands at that tym ksi nga tourist xa, bka maharang xa sa immigration. So what he did ngdala lg xa ng mga pictures kng anu ung gnagwa or job nya dati. Den he look for his employer and luckily he found one na kailangan tlga ung skills nya. So what happened next, hndi xa inemployed agad but the employer asked him to leave the country and processed all the documents needed for a working visa and inesponsoran xa ng subclass 457 visa..

So sa question na pwde mag look 4 a job on a tourist visa, I think pwde. But employer will not hire u straight away,. Swerte kna pag e esponsor ka same sa kilala ng frnd ng dad q..

Exactly my point. If you can find a way to get a TFN, which is impossible, then perhaps you can apply for work. However, I have heard of some stories of tourists who were able to land a job. I do not have any idea how they did it, certainly not the usual channel of looking for work though. The easiest work tourists can get are those that pay through cash basis - a case of tax evasion.

@bentassassin30 - to summarize, YES wala naman problem if you can try looking for a work here while on tourist visa.

Pero as what @lock_code2004, you may encounter trouble sa customs if they see your papers. So soft copy cguro if what you really want to look for a job...

Sabi naman ni @Metaform, employers won't take you in anyway... Tama sya, super competitive dito sa Australia... In fact mga PRs (myself and wifey included) even have a hard time looking for a job.

You can apply for work and if you got the job offer ask the employer to sponsor you in working visa.

Kapag nagpumilit ka na magtrabaho without visa na allow to work. Dapat handa ka bumalik deretso ng Pinas kapag nahuli ka ng immigration katulad ng news link below:

Personally, I don't think employers would bother really, in the face of current employment rate. Sa dami ba naman with legitimate visas andito na, ready and willing to work.

Question po, since bridging course ang kukunin ni wifey at ang iaapply namin ay TV, after ng bridging course, can we apply for state nomination so we can convert our visa to PR while in OZ? Or need talagang bumalik pa ng pinas? Para one time big time sana habang andun kami. magastos if babalik pa. any thoughts?

Share ko lng po ung napanuod ko sa "Boarders Security" na show. May kababayan tayo na becky na pumasok sa AU ng tourist. Pinaghinalaan sya ng mga immigration officers kung bakit may mga dala syang documents (diploma, etc.) and pagkakaalala ko sinagot nya sa officer na balita nya na may discriminasyon sa AU at dinala nya un para patunayan sa mga aussie na may pinagaralan sya and hindi sya pwede maliitin. to make the long story short... sabi sa end ng show nagi na syang PR. hehehe... galing talaga ng mga pinoy. Kung malakas loob nyo magapply ng work habang tourist visa try nyo. Basta dapat legal sya. hintayin ang company na maghire sa inyo na i-apply kayo ng work visa. un lng po.

@catthsy - possible yan sis. nangyari sa akin 9 yrs ago had i taken the job offer matagal na ako pr jan kaya lang i didn't know any better before at bata pa ako. eto gawin mo habang nakatourist ka maghanap ka ng trabaho makinetwork ka sa mga church groups marami tutulong sayo basta un nga lang you have to attend their church service and be a member of that church. kung makakita ka magsponsor sayo baka kailangan mo magexit saglit gang ok na visa mo so apply ka ng visa sa nz dun ka muna saglit para di ka na balik ng pinas. at the same time kill two birds with one stone kung di ka makahanap employer sa oz dun ka maghanap sa nz.

still your choice though, pero very slim to none ang chance to convert tourist to working visa.

I would bet my one month salary that this can no longer happen these days...

Negative as it may sound, it is what it is and although there might be a 5% chances of this happening, the downside risk of it not happening is very HUGE.

Yes, competition is very tough and take note a tourist visa holder is going to compete against the (1) aussies, (2) those foreigner educated in Australia and (3) the PRs.
