Hi all. I took IELTS 2 times already but the band I got will not add points on me. I will give PTE-A a try. I am a full time mom for 4 months already and I can say that the lion's share of my time is allocated for my baby.

Please share your review routine to manage my time wisely. I need to start my review as soon as possible to be able to book for a date of exam. I am eyeing Oct. 1 if time permitted me.

Thank you for flooding this forum all your advise and input to ace the exam.

Finally!! Naka graduate din ako sa english requirement.

27/5/2015 - Bright Centre Ortigas - 9AM - 1 test taker - L90 R80 W80 S78 - 10 points
10/8/2015 - Pearson Makati - 1PM - 6 test takers - L90 R64 W90 S70 - 0 points
20/8/2015 - Pearson Makati - 9AM - 10+ test takers - L79 R79 W83 S83 - 20 points

Bumaba scores ko pero ang importante umabot sa 20 points. Ang daming nag t-take ng exam sa 9PM schedule, lagpas 10. Tapos may late pa na babae, ang lakas ng boses. Nasa reading section na lahat nun at nahirapan ako mag concentrate. Di ko sure kung late ba sya dumating pero pinakuha pa din ng test or nag delay sya talaga ng start, para wala sya kasabay na ingay sa Speaking section.

Advise talaga is to focus and practice. Good luck sa mga mag take ng tests. Di naman ako fluent talaga sa english, so kung nakaya ko kaya nyo din yan. Shoutout ulit kay filipinacpa, thanks sa thread na to.

Ah baka sya yung katabi ko hehe. Malamang alam din nya yung babae na late at malakas ang boses. Kala ko babagsak na naman ako sa reading kasi nahirapan ako intindihin binabasa ko. Para kasing sumisigaw sa tapat tenga ko yung babae haha. Miss, kung nandito ka din sa forum, ok lang yun. Tip naman talaga na ilakas ang boses. Sana lang on time ka dumating sa test centre. Peace! XD

Hello! Hubby took the exam kanina

he passed the exam kaso 10pts lang. Ok lang kasi 1st time naman nya to take the exam and no exp p sya sa ielts. We need 20pts sana para no need for visa 190 sana. Anyways, oT po muna mejo naguguluhan ako sa pagfile mg EOI. Ok lang ba na magsubmit na kmi ng EOI habang si hubby will retake again pte? Maeedit pa ba un once submitted? For example, he submitted EOI today (190) then on Sept 28 naipass nya ng 20pts ung pte

@Liolaeus yup me nabanggit nga sya na nagkaprob daw. Actually he is also not expecting na makapasa kasi ung scored test e ambaba nya talaga. Sa reading sya lagi mababa pero oks lang. Madami nga daw nagexam at ang iingay na daw. Congrats again to you. Hopefully maka 20 rin si hubby pag retake.

Ok lang yan, ang hirap talaga ng reading parang hula ko lang halos lahat. Makukuha nyo din yung 20 points.

About EOI, yes, pwede pa edit yun hangga't wala kayo na tatanggap na invitation. Pag naka 20 points na si hubby mo, edit mo lang yun EOI then mag babago yung date ng submission.

Hello! Nagtake din ako kanina, sa pearson makati at 9am. Unfortunately di ko na achieve ang scores na kailangan. First time taker of English test. Whew. Better luck next time.

Di ko natapos, mga 3 sentences lang ng 'repeat the sentence' under Listening part yung nasagutan ko tapos time's up na.

@liolaeus: congrats to you at sa mga pumasa! super distracted din ako kanina sa kanya while on Reading part na ata yun. Wahaha. Lesson learned yan na wag papa distract no matter what.

Practice pa more. Never giving up.

Ok lang yan, first time ko di din ako nakakuha ng points. Pero sa mga susunod na exam, masasanay ka din. Talagang nakaka distract yung sa reading part, ang lakas. Gusto ko na din sumigaw kaso baka palabasin ako ng invigilator. lol

Yup yung ale. Nagkaproblema ata pagdating na nung short answer something, nagsimula tuloy sya sa simula. Yun yung ale sa middle.

Kakaloka, hindi ako makaconcentrate sa repeat sentences at sa writing exam. Buti umabot ang score ko.

Hello po sa lahat. Share ko lang po yung experience ko kanina sa PTE-Academic exam and just a few hours ago natanggap ko na rin po yung result (same day) and thanks GOD po na i got the scores i want. Super blessed po ako talaga today and until now i'm still on a cloud 9. Di makatulog sa sobrang saya. Hehe....
Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng mga nag-share dito ng information/tips lalong-lalo na po kay @filipinacpa. Ang laking tulong po talaga!

Tips:
1. Speaking - just speak naturally and LOUDER. And dun po sa Describe Image, don't spend too much time on the chart details (e.g. the ups & downs). Just direct to the point on the distinct difference/s that you see especially chart comparison kasi konti lang ang oras. Very important that you say something about the implication of the charts and for sure you'll get a high marks for this. Example, for chart comparing the population distribution between men and women where women has higher percentage at old age. Pwede mong sabihin na "Perhaps, this is attributed to the fact that men generally take risky jobs"...something like that. If you notice kasi sa scores ko sa Speaking for both scored test A & B walang lahos pinagka-iba. Pero during sa actual test dinagdagan ko ng implications dahil the past few days ko lang din 'to nalaman 'tong strategy na 'to kaya ayun perfect yung Speaking ko.

2. Reading - eto di ko masyadong ma-explain kung bakit ako nakakuha ng mataas na marks. Dito ako masyadong na-disappoint after the exam kasi naubusan ako ng oras. May 2 questions na di ko na nasagutan. Nag-spend ako ng mahabang time sa re-order paragraphs. Worried ako masyado kasi feeling ko mababang-mababa yung makukuha kung score. Awa ng diyos mataas din pala. Hehe....Kaya dapat time management talaga pagdating sa Reading. Be mindful sa timer on the upper right corner of the screen kasi sayang yung mga questions sa bandang huli kung di masagutan medyo madali pa naman.

3. Writing - medyo unlucky ako dito dahil 2 essays yung natapat sakin. Unlike dun sa mga kasabayan ko, 1 essay lang. Natapos ko din naman in time yung essays kaya lng di ko na na-review pa yung mga spelling and grammars kaya ayun medyo mababa score. Tip ko dito dapat huwag masyadong mag-spend ng time writing draft, cguro around 2~3 mins lang then starting writing na agad dun sa screen dahil kakapusin ka talaga sa oras. Write whatever comes to your mind related to the topic. One of the strategies that i learned from Simon IELTS website is hwag gumamit ng paulit-ulit na words. Although same meaning pero paiba-iba pandagdag points. Example, instead of using "huge" - use "massive", "enormous", etc.
Essay 1 topic: The world today is facing a lot of global issues. What do you think is the most serious problem? What are your solutions? (the phrase not exactly the same but the context is)
Essay 2 topic: Learning a 2nd language is not important and just a waste of time. Do you agree or disagree? Support your opinion.

4. Listening - relatively easy lang pero di alam bakit 72 lang score ko. Hehe...Siguro i think meron akong di nasagutan ng tama sa mga multiple choice questions o kaya di ko na summarize ng mabuti yung spoken texts. Presence of mind lang dapat dito. Hwag magpa-distract sa katabing test-takers kasi di naman gaanong mahirap yung sinasabi, pakinggan lang talaga ng mabuti.

Congratulations sa lahat ng nakakuha ng desired score nila!

I just finished my scored-test set b. Iyong speaking ko 41 (42 nung test a). Iyong pronunciation is 10. Is this a problem with my headset? Mas nilakasan ko naman and nasagot ko naman yung tanong with conviction. I am now worried.

Speaking is something na im not confortable with na i assess ng computer. (I got 40 sa speaking and 10 for pronunciation for both scored practice tests even na nag salita naman ako ng malakas and clear).

I am comfortable with the rest kasi inputs nun is written.

Please share more tips sa speaking.

Baka sa sobrang lakas may hangin na sumasama sa mic/mouthpiece. Nag try ka ba mag testing testing 1 2 3? Pakinggan mo maigi, dapat walang buga at malinaw ang boses mo.

Practice nyo lang yung Read Aloud section at masasanay din kayo mag salita kaharap yung computer. Tapos gayahin nyo yung mga newscaster sa CNN/BBC kung pano mag report. Merong mga ups and downs yung tone ng voice.
