@gfalconx di ko na try. Advise ko lang, try not to use shortcuts.. Kasi baka maka affect during the exam.. Madali lang fill in the blanks ng listening.. Basta check the spelling before submitting your answer...

    Hi Everyone!

This is my first time to comment here  and i just want to thank you all! You guys are really helpful! from review materials, advices and tips to boosting examinees' confidence! Thanks heaps! :P

    MOCK A (Nov 1)
    70- Speaking
    63- Writing
    62- Reading
    73- Listening

    MOCK B (Nov 5)
    69- Speaking
    76- Writing
    59- Reading
    84- Listening

    ACTUAL (Nov 6)
    90- Speaking
    72- Writing
    75- Reading
    79- Listening

In return, i wanna share my experience from review to day of exam. (baka lng din my same case ako na sa una nawawalan ng pag-asa, kabado, and napapagod na, pro still i made it!)

Oct 3- I booked the exam for Nov 6 ,  so almost 1 month and 3 days preparation. By that time oct 19 na agad ang next exam then sunod is nov 6.  I booked the exam just for the sake of booking! haha! i dont have review materials yet but i have already a glimpse of exam flow as i checked this post already.

Tip: Check exam dates early. Also, i find it helpful to set the exam date agad para mapressure ako and to take seriously the review. Kasi ang tendency if after mo mgreview, saka ka magbook. You'll have excuses to delay the exam. :)

    Review materials and strategy:
Mcmillan book- downloaded from this post:
-Hindi ko natapos mcmillan. And most audio parts relating to CD1,  di ko nagawa kasi incomplete nadownload ko.
-Didnt finish esays and most writing parts (guilty on this, kasi dinelay ko sya ng dinelay hanggang sa di ko nasagutan. Alam ko kasi mahina ako sa essay kaya ayoko sya sagutan haha! )
-For three weeks,2hrs/day for weekdays. then for  weekend i spent almost whole day.  ( I had days na napapgod na ako or nauumay. as a result, dmi ko break time lol)

TIP: Better if you finish the whole book. If kulang sa time, since ang mcmillan is 4 parts n dn paulitulit. concentrate on your weaknesses. practise!

Pte practise exam (free)- pte site (i tried to answer parts na im having a hard time. READING!

Gold kit mock exam- Bought from Pte site. bought this same day i booked my exam. As mentioned ng iba, better if you bought it kasi youll be more familiarize on the exam actual process. But this has downside din, if you saw your scores. Disappointing kasi ung sakin, aminado ako mahina ako reading, spec. reorder and essay writing ( which is twice ko lng ntry gumawa during my review). For my 2nd mock, mas ok na feeling . Thankful sa ielts ryan . essay tips! really helpful. After non tumaas ang writing ko! still reading ang kulang ko.

Youtube videos-  i watched for tips  basta ngsearch lng ako.esp sentence construction, essay writing.

Ted.ph- for 3 nights ng weekend i listened on videos, to check lang if i can understand english accents.

For review schedules, as much as possible devote portion of your time everyday hanggang sa routine mo na sya. Though iba iba tyo ng scenario, others maybe busy. Isipin na lang natin, we want this badly na we have to do our part and that is to review.

    ACTUAL EXAM:
-Wag dumaldal haha. once pumasok sa lobby area, refrain fr talking daw.
-Go to restroom before exam pra  derederecho ka na.
-Take a break before proceeding to Listening part. kahit saglit lang. ako ng restroom lng then balik agad. Good thing din kasi atleast nastretch muscles, my blood circulation and medyo narest mind mo. :) No need to rush in finishing the exam, anyway, you'll just do it once! ;)

    SPEAKING  and WRITING
    -Almost same sa mcmillan.
speaking- Be confident! In describing images, pag wala na ako masabi lagi ang last sentence ko is " This graph is an effective and efficient way to illustrate the datas.. " For the sake lng na tulotuloy.
-writing - same sa taas format ng ielts ryan.  check your grammar and spelling

    READING
-compared sa mock and mcmillan, mas nadalian ako sa actual. lalo na sa fill in the blanks and reorder paragraphs! thankful ako kasi ang napunta skin mga tig 2 sentences lng (for reorder).  ksi weakness ko tlga to.
-monitor time! naghabol na ako nung huli. pero thank God natapos ko din :)

    LISTENING
    -Same as mcmillan and mock.
    - but when it comes to repeat sentence mas madali actual! mas onti ang words :)
-naghabol din ako dito ng oras! hahha nkakapanic din. pero anw, last question ng repeatsentence ako nagahol.  . ndi ko natype ang last 4 words.

Kahit di ko natapos, iba pa din ang feeling. Fulfillling :) and finally natapos din. kaya after exam i let go of  it agad, di ko na inisip and i tried to relax.

    ONE MAJOR TIP:
before i started reviewing. I wrote in a paper...

(FULL NAME) PASSED PEARSON TEST ENGLISH ACADEMIC ON (DATE OF EXAM) WITH SCORES OF 80-WRITING,  80- SPEAKING, 80-READING and 80-LISTENING.
(tho not exctly same sa actual :) i target high score para my allowance)

Pinost ko sya sa wall ko sa room. and even wallpaper sa phone ko. and for one month every morning  pag gising  and every night pagtulog, I SAY IT OUT LOUD! i always believe in auto suggestion and law of attraction.  In that way din, i started my day right. Im motivated to study kasi i need to give justice to it. Na kahit i have FAITH AND PRAYERS on my side . still i acknowledge the need for me to exert an EFFORT AND HARD WORK. No room for doubts! believe i  yourself! "WHAT THE MIND CAN CONCEIVE, IT CAN ACHIEVE."

Ang haba n ng post ko, halos lht nmn ng tips nasabi n ng iba haha! Pero anyway i hope na if my nadagdag ako dun. yun ay ang pagshare ko bout autosuggestion and law of attraction.

Again, thank you sa lahat! GOD BLESS US ALL. :) KEEP THE FAITH!

Listening 80 - considering na konti lang ang naalala ko sa repeat sentence
Reading 63 - eto aminado ako nagahol ako sa oras tapos sobrang hirap pa ang lumabas sa akin...dito talgang up to the last minute talagang nataranta at nanghula na ako

anyway.. first time ko din magtake last Friday. and unfortunately, sumablay ako sa speaking. as in sobrang baba. :( eto yung mga nakuha kong grades.

    L- 83
    R- 90
    S - 54
    W- 90

    221111 - Accountant (General)
Sep 2015 - gathered documents (i.e tor, syllabus, COE)
Oct 2015 - review for PTE Academic
    Nov 6, 2015 - 1st PTE Academic exam - Failed Speaking. huhu :( (S/W/R/L - 54/90/90/83)
    Nov 13, 2015 - 2nd PTE Academic exam - Success! :) (S/W/R/L - 90/90/87/90)
Nov 17, 2015 - Sent documents to CPAA for assessment
Dec 4, 2015 - Received request for additional docs
Dec 15, 2015 - Sent additional supporting docs

Good day po sa lahat! You may not know me because this is may first time to post in this forum. Nung una, nagbabasabasa lang po ako ng mga posts ng mga tao and it encouraged me to take pte academic. Same as the other test takers here, i started with IELTS which somehow made me lose hope because i took IELTS 2 times and the results were not good.

    1st take (june 27,2015)
    L-6.5
    R-6
    W-6
    S-6.5

    2nd take (september 26,2015)
    L-7
    R-6.5
    W-6
    S-6.5

After kong makuha yung result nung last IELTS exam ko, i talked to the person in my agency who is fixing my papers if i have other options. Then she recommended me to take PTE academic. She told me that it is easier. At first, i was hesitant because i thought that this might be like IELTS who is making the exam a business. Well, it is really a business but what i mean with business is that they are taking our money in exchange of the exam but they are concealing the real result and giving us lower grades for us to retake the exam and pay them again. I somehow believe in this because if they give it away easily, there will be fewer test takers meaning lesser income for them. They know that people are willing to take take the risk of retaking the exams as many tries as they want until they get their desired band score because of course, people are dying to go abroad to earn bigger salary. I think i ranted enough. Masama lang talaga loob ko sa ielts. Haha.

Anyway, di ko alam kung pano ako napunta sa forum na to. I just clicked on this page and voila! My hopes of passing the test came back. Thanks to @filipinacpa. Honestly, if not because of this mawawalan na siguro ako ng gana magexam at magaaral nalang ako doon. The time i found out this forum, i started reading the posts from the beggining up until the latest post. It took me a whole day to read all the posts and i can say that it is all worthit. After reading all the posts, i immediately bought the gold kit of pte and tried to download the pte test builder of macmillan and for some reason, i failed to dl it so i just sticked with the gold kit i bought. I took the first mock test the day after i bought it whitout reviewing and the result is disappointing. L-64 R-55 S-63 W-63. Since everyone is saying that the actual exam is easier, nagbook narin ako nung oct. 19, 2015 kahit mababa yung scores ko. I booked 4 days before the examination day. Tough right? I reviewed everyday until the test date. I tried to apply all the suggestions they posted. The day before my exam, i took the mock test b. L-62 R-62 S-63 W-61.

I was worried and did not sleep well the night before the actual exam. I kept on thinking that i will fail the exam. I came late to the testing center but i was able to take the exam. I was the last one who enetered the room and it was really noisy inside that made me more nervous. Sobrang lakas ng tibok ng puso ko then everyone was talking. I was really not focused that time but i tried to focus on the exam and i faiedl to regain it. I screwed up my speaking, writing, reading and listening. Since i was late, ako rin yung huling natira sa testing room and worst is that i was not able to finish my listening because my time is up.

    1st take (oct 19,2015)
    S-64
    W-63
    R-65
    L-60

But i did not give up because i know that i came unprepared. I read some posts again in this forum and there was a post saying "OUR DREAM IS BIGGER THAN OUR FEAR". Tumatak talaga sa isip ko yun. Whoever you are, thank you!

I learned from my mistakes so i refreshed my knowledge and practiced my weakness. Honestly, i did not reviewed well. What i did was i memorized the flow of the exam bacause it is really a time saver if you will not read the instruction. The time texts and pictures pop up on the screen, you already know what to do. I am reapiting it you. Familiarization of the flow of the exam is very very very important!!! Bacause i can still remember that after my retell lecture, another picture was showed on the screen and i thought it was still the retell lecture so i panicked and wasn't able to answer the question.

I know to myself that i can nail this exam so i booked another exam 3 days before the test date(nov 6,2015). To tell you honestly, i did not read or do some practice test anymore after i booked the exam and i just sticked on what i should do on every part of the exam. I memorized the flow very well and applied the techniques that is applicable to me because not all the techniques are applicable to everyone. So, you need to practice, practice and practice and decipher the technique you are comfotable with.

The night before the exam, i booked for a masseuse for me to relax and to have a good night sleep. I slept for 8 hours but was not able to eat my breakfast so i just ate 3 pcs of dew berry and a yogurt to fuel up my brain with glucose but that was not enough. I advice you to take a full meal. Since i was late the last time i took pte, i made it sure that i was an hour earlier. I arrived at the testing center at exactly 8:00 am. As i arrived at the testing center, i got a number and did not read the sheets of paper they gave me because i already read it the first time i took the exam. They did their usual ritual before taking the exam. They confirmed my identification using my passport, then took may picture and palm scanned me. I put all my things inside the provided locker and went to the comfort room to empty my bladder then proceeded to the examination room. Since i was early, i was the second person who took the exam. The 1st person who took the exam when i entered the room was already at the middle part of the speaking. So, it is better to go earlier because once you arrived at the testing center, they will let you take the exam immediately. It is an advantage because it is not yet noisy. You will not be bothered while taking the exam. I checked the mic and the headset if it is working and i took my time modulating my voice until i am satisfied. It would be wise to prepare a 30sec talk introducing yourself and why you are taking pte but this part of the exam is not scored. It will just help boost your confidence, i think.

    SPEAKING:

Read aloud - you have 35 secs to read the passage and prepare. My technique is that during the preparation time, i am reading it aloud already so that i will know if i am too fast or slow. Inuulit ulit ko yung mga parts na medyo nabbulol ako para pag binasa ko na siya fluent na kasi maaalala ng utak natin na dapat ganun siya basahin. Sit up straight. Focus on the passage. Ignore the people talking around you. Feel free to move. Express yourself. Do some hand gestures like you are explaining it to someone. For me, it is better if you are doing some hand gestures while reading the words because it eases up the tension. It also helps to be more focus on the text that you are reading. As a practice, i read books aloud.

Repeat sentece - i wrote down the first letter of words while repeating the words on my mind. I practiced this many times and based on my observation, i was speaking at the 2 or 3 second mark after writing the first letter of the words. It needs practice to perfect it and it is effective for me but of course my short term memory is not that good so i tend to miss some words but it is fine.

Describe image - i have a template as what others did. "The line graph/bar graph/pie chart/diagram/picture depicts/shows/illustrates the (title of the picture presented). The x axis represents the xxxxxx and the y axis represents xxxxxx." (For graphs). Then explain the highest and lowest figures. Conclusion "it is evident that the overall trend was downwards/upwards"/"overall, the graph showed an upward trend from xxxx-xxxx, then a downward trend from xxxx-xxxx"/"the picture/graph/chart is concise and accurate, hence it could be use for future study". Just practice it to learn how to manage your time and not exceed the 40 second time limit. Explain the picture on how you read the passages in read aload. Don't correct yourself just move on if you say something wrong.

Re-tell lecture - it is important to take down notes. Take down the key words. If you can't say anything else just relax and think of something that is related to the lecture. The key here is to say the key words and be fluent. Be mindful of your time. You should end your sentence before the time expires. 36-38 secs is good enough.

Answer short question - Dito ako nadali dati. Akala ko retell lecture pa ayun pala answer short question na. Always be alert. This is easy but you must be aware on what part of the exam you are answering.

    WRITING

Summarize written text - read this http://en.toefl.uobabylon.edu.iq/papers/pearson_2014_112450766.pdf
You have allot of time in this part so this should be easy but practice it as too just to make sure.

    Write essay - http://dylanaung.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/useful-phrases-sentences-and-formats.html?m=1
    http://dylanaung.blogspot.com/2015/04/pte-academic-essay-questions-and-ideas.html?m=1
Just the same with ielts essay but you have a shorter time. You need to write an essay within 20mins. You should have an introduction, body (2 paragraphs) and conclusion.

READING - this is easier than the mock tests. Don't waste your time on one item. If you're not sure with your answer in the multiple choice, just answer the sure one you know. Mutiple choice is right minus wrong. If one of your answers is correct and the other one is wrong, you'll get a score of 0 so be careful.

Reorder paragraphs - just look for the topic sentece. The topic sentence is a sentence which could stand alone. It doesn't have pronouns. I know there is a link in the previous posts. Just check it out or you could check youtube. Look for tips on pte re order paragraph if i'm not mistaken. But i am sure there is a tutorial in youtube.

Fill in the blanks - check out the academic collocation list in pte. There are about more than 2000 collocation words but you don't have to memorize it. You just need to be familiar with the words.

    LISTENING

Summarize spoken text - same with the re tell lecture. Take note of the key words. There is an enough time to write your answer. Check your grammar, spelling and sentence constraction.

Multiple choice - read the question first then look for the context clue. Listen carefully to the speaker and look for the context clue and once you heard it, you'll find the answer. Don't waste much of your time in this part.

Fill in the blanks - read together with the speaker. What i did in this part is that i wrote the answers in the provided sheet of paper without looking on what i am writing so that i can follow the words that the speaker is saying. After listening, i typed the answers in the blanks. Make sure that what you are typing is in the correct spelling. You can use "tab" to shift to the next blank.

Highlight correct summary - i really suck in this part. Before the speaker speaks, read the question then listen to the speaker very carefully. Take down the key words and rlate it to the choices.

Select missing word - just listen carefully to the speaker. Look at the moving bar on your screen and when it is about to end, focus on the last sentence because it is about to stop.

Highlight incorrect words - easy part. Just follow the word that the speaker is saying using the cursor so that when the speaker said an incorrect word, you could immediately click it.

Write from dictation - same tip as with the repeat sentence. The difference is that you have more time in this part to write your answer so this is easier than the repeat sentence.

    S-71
    W-70
    R-68
    L-75

sa multiple choice-multiple answer, mas ok na magtake risk sa 2 sure correct answer, atleast 2points na agad un. unlike sa 2 sure answer then may isang feel mo lang na tama na matagal mo pinagisipan. 2-1=1point lang makukuha, ubos pa oras.

@jrgongon sobrang sayang talaga yun. 2 points nalang. Ang taas pa naman nung iba mo. Dibale, sure na yan sa next take mo. Reading nalang naman problema mo eh. Basta pag may sure ka ng isang sagot tapos di ka sure sa iba mong sagot, wag ka ng magtake ng risk isagot mo na yung sure ka tapos move on na. Tama si engeneer20 na kadalasan eh 2 lang ang tamang sagot. Tapos right minus wrong pa. Sabi pala ng iba na mataas daw points ng re order paragraphs. Goodluck sa next take. You will nail it, bro! Congrats in advance.
