Hi Guyz,
I had applied for Accountant Gen to CPAA but received a negative assessment stating I need to complete Financial Accounting and Reporting. I have done M.Com, anyone has experienced the same problem need a bit of guidance from you guyz.

@pink Hey sorry for replying late. I had just forwarded the actual syllabus that was all. When I spoke to them they said the accessor are quite experienced in their work and the assessment would not change.

Do have some clue if we re-submit them will that be helpful or else they have asked me to appear for foundation exam - Financial Accounting and Reporting.

@cm1212 I am not familiar with your degree. but if you have Bachelors degree, you need to provide syllabus as proof that you have studied financial accounting and reporting.
How many year is Masters in commerce?

@cm1212 do you have a subject financial accounting and reporting subject out of those 5 years? if so, get a syllabus and send an appeal stating that u already took that subject.

@cm1212 in my case, I had financial accounting 1 and 2 subjects. the subject title did not include 'reporting'. What subjects did you have that discussed financial accounting and reporting? It might help to prepare an extensive description of those subjects to show the connection and relevance to 'financial accounting and reporting'. Masteral units are not considered, sorry to say. I have a MBA degree but it was not considered during the assessment.

@batman @caylin During my studies at BCOM & MCOM the subject is scattered through out so it is difficult to actually sum up everything. I think it was better for me to have a agent doing this instead me taking a chance.

@cm1212 Agree with the previous suggestions. If you indeed completed Financial Accounting and Reporting back in college, prepare a course description to back up the syllabus you have submitted. This course description should have a detailed background of the subjects you took.

By the way, this case seems like you have to file an appeal to the assessor for them to look into your qualifications again.

@jmban33 Hi its absolutely fine of you asking the question. But in India the commerce stream is more dedicated to Accounting related material. I think I have missed one subject of Advance accountancy in my masters which has lead to this problem.

@mrkanncpa Hi, I too agree with the points mentioned but the thing is that it needs a professional person who can appeal to them. Otherwise I feel it would be wastage of funds around $180 or its better to shed $360 for the exam. That way at-least I would be sure of getting a positive assessment.

I was waiting if anyone Indian with same qualifications has got through the same process.

@pikachu13 hi, there is an option for e mail, which I believe more convenient why send through post? I don't have first hand experience with IPA, In my assessing body, CPAA they accept colored scan copy. only black and white documents need to be CTCed.

@pikachu13 Yes there was a limit when they sent me the procedure how to attached the docs. I have my documents scanned here in our office (tipid) and im overseas.

Hello! Would they accept po if you write your own job description and just attach it to the certificate of employment? Hindi kasi nagpoprovide ng job description yung current and previous employers ko sa COE nila.

@joyee yes you can do that, just have it signed by you previous boss or colleague and have it notarized. They call it statutory declaration.

Hi everyone,

Glad to be here in this forum. I would like to raise my concern if anyone from the group were able to made it to Australia kahit na hindi po sila CPA or non board passer.

Obviously, hindi po ako CPA and seeking to migrate din po. Naka pag pa-consult na po ako sa mga agencies at ang sabi po sa akin hindi daw po ako qualified due to same reason na hindi ako CPA but then sa Australia hindi naman acknowledge ang pagiging CPA sa pinas.

Furthermore, nakapag pa assess na din po ako sa CPAA. As per evaluation nakuha ko naman lahat ng units maliban lang sa score sa IELTS and planning to re-take kung may chance yung case ko.

Any inputs are appreciated.
