Since you have a BSN sa pinas plus Nursing exp go for a nursing conversion course. atleast 1yr yung course. You stand a better chance of getting work after your AU RN registration and apply for PR. Dnt go for any diploma course etc..waste of money and time lng yan..since my BSN sa pinas k n at exp.

@idrakels its not too late if u want to shift a course. but since its a bachelor course i think tuition is more than 30k aud for 1yr dunno current price it might be higher now

@idrakels but still its a sure bet for PR which is ultimately the goal. yung 30k mababayaran lng din yan after you get work. it will be worth it..I did that and PR n now. and.slowly paying off yung utang. It is expensive yes i do not deny that but in the end makikita mo yung sacrifice nang hard work mo sa end. if your PR n you can bring your family with you here, your children will have a better future here, surely thats worth more than 30k...

But then again you really really need to think hard on it and weight all the risk.

If you are a qualified RN and have the experience I will still say n this is the best option, rather than going to the cycle of constantly changing diploma courses just to extend your student visa n in the end wont lead you to PR status. Madami n rin ako n meet n ganyan ang situation. and if you calculate it you will be spending more than the 30k if you did take the RN conversion course. because as an international student you are basically paying 3 times the normal tuition rate compared to a local PR..pinag peperahan n yung international student ang Australia

@idrakels 3 months lng yung bridging course..I have 6yrs paid exp n eh..then nag student visa ako for 6 months while working part time as agency nurse while paying for my tuition monthly plus processing my papers for anmac assessment and visa 190. Di ako nag rely sa sponsorship..

@tootsies very helpful yung mga insights mo regarding this.

@reg387 May AU RN license n b? if so apply lng sa mga nursing agency dito. Usually they will ask yun CV, Aphra reg, AFP clearance, etc...

Bale on call casual ang work. San2x hospital at area k ilalagay.

@reg387 PR n b? if di pa..usually kasi walang work rights ang visa. as to work need mag schooling ulit for cert 3 or 4 in aged care para mag work as PCA OR PSA. besides if mag bridging k full time yan eh both for assessment and placement. wala time really mag study. kadi bugbog sarado n katawan at utak..

@reg387 atleast thats one thing out of the way. but honestly wont recommend working for the period she's doing the bridging course.
kasi 5 days are for placement. and 2 days off but she will likely spend her days off doing her assignment plus online learnings.. so besides sleep and everything else super pagod n..

but then again sya pa rin ang mag decide. as to working as a PCA or PSA..need kuha n cert 3 or cert 4 for that kasi you need to learn how the system works. its a lot different..as well as learn how to operate certain lifting machines, learning for proper manual handling etc..

Hi @tooties . I've been reading different threads in this forum and I could see that you are such a big help to others.

I do hope that you could answer my queries.

    My situation is this:
I graduated BS in Nursing in the Philippines year 2008 and got my license by 2009.

Worked in the hotel industry from 2009-2011.

My paid nursing experience is only 7 months in a government hospital back in 2012.

Since 2012 til present, my work is not related in nursing, but in hospitality.

Do you think it's a good idea that I take the Conversion course in nursing in Australia despite my lack of experience?

Do you think it's better that I take advance diploma in hospitality since my work experience is wider in the hospitality industry?

    Thanks so much

@ozwishful If the conversion program will accept you despite having minimal experience go for it. its easier getting PR later. however take note your competition in work expecially for sponsorship 457 may have more extensive experience than you some of them came from UK, Dubai, saudi etc..they take precedence.

On more thing to consider as your experience is only short and has been for quite awhile now it would be harder for you to process your application for 190 state sponsorship visa and/or 189 Independent visa. As 190 will require you to have 2yrs paid exp and 189 visa will require to have 3yrs paid exp, it also must be recognized by ANMAC in their skills assessment.

So your only option after the conversion is get 457 visa employer nominated, work 1yr for them then and only then can you apply for 189 or 190 visa. OR if the employer is willing they can sponsor you for a PR visa via employer nominated stream. but if you have a choice dont go for it cause they will lock you in a contract for a minimum of 2yrs.

As to hospitality dont bother with that it requires 5yrs plus exp in the industry, even more competition, and slowly shrinking employer who offer work sponsorship and harder to get PR in the end.
