@piglet24 once you visit your GP sila magrerefer sa specialist if high risk pregnancy ka sis. Dont worry kasi momonitor ka nila and bring all your records para meron sila basis. But to tell you bakanipaulit kasi meron sil standards of test sa AU. For me from SG moved to AU on my 3rd month of pregnancy. Pinaulit lahat ng test although kinuha pa din nila test from SG. All the best sis, kayang kaya yan. Have a safe delivery

@johnvangie: thanks thanks! now dami na akong information. one last issue to cover na lang talga. kasi we were thinking of going there around 34 weeks na ako. kasi gusto ko sana sabay na lang kami ni hubby pumunta diyan. natatakot kasi akong bumiyahe on my own lalo na high-risk ako. i sent email to the hospital inquiring if they can still accommodate me kahit nasa 34 weeks na ako. or iprefer nila na earlier ako dumating.

TIA!

Hello po. Gusto ko lng po ask (example lang po ) if I am 34 weeks pregnant, then I go to OZ for our IED and to deliver in Au para automatic citizen na ang baby ko but I will still return to SG after delivery (cguro pag 2 months na c baby). Kumbaga instead of giving birth in PH while I'm on Maternity Leave (I'm working in SG), I go to OZ instead with my husband. Then after my ML, I'll go back to PH with my new born (with blue AU passport - not sure how to apply for one yet though). Then si hubby na lng muna maiwan sa OZ to look for a job. Mahirap kc if both of us will be jobless then with a new born pa. Ayoko kc muna mag-resign unless one of us is settled na in AU sana though it will be a huge sacrifice for both of us kc we have to be separated with our baby for a while (like what most parents do here in SG na ndi PR). Eto sana plan namin mag-asawa, though I'm not sure if we'll be violating any rules in AU. I just want to know if there is anyone who had experienced this. I want to know your story and advise na din. Thanks po.

Hi! I just gave birth last Sep 30 here in Melbourne. We're holders of PR visa and we got here in AU mid of January... So, we've only been here for 8.5 months when I gave birth.

I didn't pay a single centavo for the check-ups, tests (i.e. blood test, glucose, etc), ultrasound and delivery / hospital stay... We just used Medicare for everything. I was under shared cared... Meaning I was seeing a GP in the community health centre and an OB in the the hopital (Mercy Hospital for Women which is a first-class public hospital).

As for the pregnancy vitamins like Vitamin D and multivitamins, I purchased it from the Chemist.

For the benefits, I'm entitled to claim Baby Bonus which does not have residency requirement. :)
    This is good news!! ;)

    Is this still applicable today?

Assessed Occupation: Industrial Engineer (IE 233511)
Achieved Goal: Australia PR (Permanent Resident). Thanks God!

    ...sharpening my core gifts now...
    ...working on new, better goals...

Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. ~Luke 6:28~

Hi, pde ba magtanong regarding the situation of my wife. We are planning to go to Australia, SA by may 2017 next year, my wife would be 34-35 weeks pregnant at that time. Ang visa namin ay visa 489 and wala kaming medical insurance for coverage. I know we have to pay for the delivery costs of the baby. Our questions are the following:
    1. Pwede ba magbook sa public hospital pagdating namin doon? 34-35 weeks na pregnant si misis noon. Will they accept her?
    2. How much approximately and cost to delivery sa public hospital?

Thanks and much appreciated any responses or if you have better advice.

Hi kaussiel, I think kaya walang responses is most people here probably don't know what the non-Medicare costs are. You are better off contacting the hospital directly. Do you know kung saan kayo titira sa Australia?

You can also check with your insurer kung covered ang births.

@ziggyboy I will give birth may this year as well, and were holder of 457 visa so hindi kame entitle s medicare. Pero meron kame insurance of which naserve n namin ung waiting period n one year. If darating kayo dito at kukuha ng private health insurance hindi rin kayo cover dahil s waiting period. if wala din kayo medicare wala kayo choice kundi to pay everything. medyo mahal ung childbirth, di ko lang alam rate s public pero s private ng ngtanong ako $7k s hospital tpos around $3k s OB, pwera pa ung s check up. pero baka mas mura ng konti s public. try mo maginquire s hospital.

    Primary Applicant : Husband
    Occupation: Electrician General
Visa 190 WA (currently in WA under 457 visa)
    31/Jan - Visa Lodge Couple ( Fee $5,400)
    01/Feb - Medical @ BUPA ($754.31)
    03/Feb - Medical cleared
07/Feb - CO Contact payslip & tax assessment for AU employer
08/Feb - Provide documents Status : Assessment in progress
22/Feb - Visa Granted 9:03am GSM Adelaide CO: Peter
    Thank you Lord!!

Hi, ask ko lang po.. 457 din kami. Ano po insurance nyo na covered na if at least naka 1 year na? And sorry, bago lang wala pang idea, ano pong maki-carry na visa ni baby, under dependent visa din? since napanganak sya dito. Thanks!

@peanut1505 Hi! Im also new here. I'm on a 457 visa din and due to give birth in August. Did you choose private hosp or public hosp? Not sure pa how much will it cost pero when i asked my insurance provider at maximum magbabayad kami $8k pero depende pa yun baka mas mataas pa. Hopefully di masayado mahal. Currently dami ko na out of pocket exp due to 'gap'. Btw, doon sa $10k, yun ba yung out of pocket expense mo or may babayarin pa yung insurance provider mo? Thank you!

Hello @marjames in terms of coverage ng insurance, kung ano ung medicare cover ng mga resident dito ganun din satin natin pero si private insurance mo lang ung nag-act as medicare. So in terms of consultation need mo magbayad ng 'gap' kung meron. E.g. sa consultation I pay the gap kasi ung standard consultation is $37 lang pero higher yung billing sakin ng GP. Pero blood test and 1st ultra sound reimburseable. So ako muna nagbabayad din sinsubmit ko ung receipt for reimbursement. For the 2nd and 3rd ultra sound need mo din bayaran yung gap which is $60 each. Advice ko lang dapat magpabook ka with them ng maaga. Based on my experience i called my private insurance to know kung ano ung entitlement natin. Bibigyan ka niya ng rough estimate :) then talk to your midwife afterwards para bigyan ka ng idea. So magpabook ka na once you received the yellow card from your GP. :)

In relation naman sa citizenship ni baby, di siya magiging citizen if hndi PR either yung mother or father. Based sa research ko dapat daw i-apply si baby for dependent visa pagkalabas niya..
