What to do if i dont want to include my spouse in migrating?

Hi guys,

I know all of you will find it weird but right now the decision is for me to migrate alone then after 2 or 3 years we will assess the situation financially to see if I should go back to the Philippines or him joining me in AU. The question is how should I declare this in skillselect, forms and other documents? Even though we are legally married, we have decided to pursue our careers even it means we have to live far from each other.

I know some of you are already scratching their heads on our problem, but this is how we have decided and we hope that you just let us keep whatever personal reasons we may have that we've come through with this decision.

There are few things that are floating in our minds right now;
1. Should I include him in all my papers? For those who are wondering – of course I will declare myself as married. But I don’t have the luxury of time to spend processing all the documents needed from him. So as much as possible, I would like to eliminate the burden completing documents aside from mine.
2. Should he take all the necessary steps(certification, ielts, medical etc) required to join me as migrant even he is not coming with me? Is AU requiring our spouses to have migrant visa as well and to have these papers?
3. When the time comes that we have decided to settle in AU, that is the only time that we will begin applying for his visa and to process required documents. Is this correct or there is a different approach?

We hope someone can give us answers on this.

Thank you.

@hawkeye - in case you dont know, processing fee with or without your dependent is the same 3060AUD.. so practically speaking.. its better to process with all your dependents (wife and kids)

    one major consideration:
    - if you dont require points for partner (5pts), then ikaw lang ang magpapa-assess ng skills/qualification, the only thing you need from your partner are basic docs (passport, Diploma/TOR)..
-of course if you need the partner points, then the partner will have to get all other documents (cert of employment, ielts, and all other requirements for assessment)
    - so check how many points you have now, with or without partner poins..
    - also, if you will declare your spouse in the application, and then she will not be part of your visa application, i think you will need some explanation on why you are doing this..

so in general, including your spouse in the application is the best thing to do.. once the visa is approved, it is not required that the spouse should come with you immediately. the secondary applicant should just satisfy the Initial Entry Date deadline, and then can return to philippines. and then just return back to AU within 5 yrs (visa validity)..

@hawkeye, I have the same advise as @lock_code2004. Don't make a simple thing very complicated.

You can make your final decision when you (and your spouse) obtain the visa. You will have 5 years (upon getting the PR visa) to decide on this.

    Good luck!

@lock_code2004, I just wanted to clarify this, pero di ba kahit di kukuhanan ng partner points ang spouse he is still required to take an IELTS exam? Thanks!

@aeyo10 : for the secondary applicant, pwede na ang certificate of english as medium of teaaching from the school/university. no need to take IELTS.

@hotshot: ah yes sir. but for my case, my partner's school already closed (a computer school). so we thought that his only resort is to take an ielts.. okay sana if mahagilap namin yung office nung dating school, we heard it just pursued a business na IT related pa din.. but then again, tanggapin kaya ang certification na ibibigay just in case, if the school already closed?
sorry wala na sa topic ng thread pero if you have inputs as well, very much appreciated!

@aeyo10 - try nyo hagilapin ang school kahit closed na.. pwede naman sguro nila ilagay sa statement na closed na ang school nila, pero pwede pa rin magverify thru any contact person/representative nung school...

    - sabi dyan sa link na binigay ko above, pwde din daw pala kahit cert of english as medium of instruction from primary and secondary school. kailangan both..
