Tuition fee per sem: per term sila... usually 2,100 per term (25 weeks) kaya di ako masyadong nahirapan magbayad. Ako lang kasi ang magsusupport sa sarili ko dun. Tinutulungan lang ako ngayon ng parents ko for the show money. :)

hello! need valuable pieces of advice or suggestions/opinions.

Im already a PR, has been living in melbourne for 1.5yrs now and Im currently working in a bank (first time to work in a bank, was in retail industry for almost all my work life). I am thinking to improve myself and study accounting. I studied BS in commerce major in bus admin sa UST (pinas). Should I be taking a diploma course or a bachelor's degree here in AU? May maccredit kayang units? and lastly, would you recommend online vs campus studies?

    Thanks.

    hi to All!

mag inquire po sana ako regarding schools, had an offer from uni and institute, obviously mas mura si institute which is very convincing and ready to take that path. i asked my cousin na nasa Melb na naging successful for studying and now PR na cya but he went uni. he told me baka daw masayang if institute lang then mag ulit ako pag nasa AU na ako. so may i humbly ask for a very serious advice regarding this matter po? below is my inquiry..

me: BS IT, working for more than 10yrs - IT Sr. Manager
    age: 39
looking at: Kent Institute - Bachelors of Science in Business - Specialization in Management or Information Systems. (mas mura and pasok sa budget)

what if University? Master in Information Technology?

question: would you think okay si Kent afterwards to get PR? pointing system ang worry ko baka mababa? then as well a decent job?

    please advise po,

    Thanks!

    Hi All,
Is there anyone here na graduate ng business course sa Pinas, and tried to get another bachelors degree in AU na different from his BS course in college and work experience sa pinas? As in total career change...just gauging possibilities for myself.
I graduated BS Economics and planning to take a course in Agribusiness in AU...why? mas advance system nila at may chance maka work na mas mataas ang sweldo as part time while working in student visa...any advise pls. TIA!

sino na po nakatry sa IDP, mas mura ba o mas mahal ang tf nila? o dahil half-owned sila e mas mura ang tf? please share your experience. Many thanks!

Libre ang IDP (my wife's classmates nung nagstart sila 2014 pa eto so not sure if they are asking for a fee or not now)

Sa davao kami and used an agent 20k php pa that time. What i gathered is that di sila kumukuha ng fee sa students coz we think pag successful naging student sa mga schools na ibigay ni IDP sa inyo duoon sila meron commission. If we had known na meron IDP that time duoon na din sana kami nakatulong yung 20k php dito when we came over.

Nung nagapply kami 3 kami (me, wiffey and our son) even though di pa namin sya nakukuha hangang ngayon we added him sa application namin.

    16k++ aud (more or less)
at that time 1st sem (10.5k$) + (3k$ OSHC good for 3 yrs) + 3k$ (visa, ticket, medical)

then pag lapag namin dito (kasi wala kilala in darwin) 5k$ less than 1 month naubos (i cant forget kasi binigay ng auntie nya sa amin) so hugot sinturon talaga kayo. Good thing nakahanap ako ng trabaho bago naubos pera namin) pero barely lang for us. 400$ lang sweldo ko as dependent (can work 20hrs weekly or as they say 40hrs fortnight).

2nd sem (10.5k$ tuition) borrowed from family in the ph
3rd sem (11.5K$ tution) yearly tumataas
4th sem (11.5k$ tuition) finally dahil sa tax rebate and nakaipon na we paid for it with our hard earned savings here.

    Charles Darwin University (2014-2016)

Nung nagpa assess kami 3 years (kasi di pa na credit yung RN and masters nya) but nung nasa school na kami took them a few weeks (but we went there almost everyday to bug them) kasi mahal pag di na credit yung 4yrs+ 1yr masters nya back to "year 1" kami (so she has to do 3 yrs) good thing we got it.

The only good thing here in au is wala masyadong age discrimination, meron ako kasama sa work 50++ yrs old. (personal experience ha)

Same din you go to the uni and have your minors credited (or kahit majors mo na meron same description na pwede ma credit) as much as possible para conting units na lang kukunin mo per sem.

If this happens then di ka masyado ma overwhelm sa school assessment. My wife had a hard time doing her assessments and assignments kasi mostly for her puro mga essay (2k-5k words) and its her weakness. Then meron pa plagiarism check so careful talaga pag mag "copy" need nyo to revise.

Due to Bachelor lang (same with us) limited tayo to 20hrs weekly or 40hrs fortnight pag meron class. Pero pag school break you can work full time (so try to find a good company na you can talk to na mabigyan ka ng full time work pag school break ka na) and try to work on sat/sun if you can kasi malaki ang penalty rate. (sat = 1.5 rate, sunday 2x rate)

then always network rami naman tayo dito, so swallow your pride and do hard work.

try pa din boss kasi hirap maging student visa dito. limited sa work hours. pero nakaya naman.

Yes, pag dating nyo (like us wala kaming kakilala dito sa Darwin) and never be picky if meron chance to work. Currently i am still a dishwasher coz limited pa rin ako to 20hrs per week. Limited pa rin ang chances for me to work in my field here until i can get full time work rights.

parang chicken and egg (people will not give you their time of day to see ano capabilities mo unless you get a foot in the door) so try to cultivate your network sa area nyo.

Wag ka mag work sa big companies (unless they are known to sponsor) kasi meron ako nakasama sa work he is a chef and 1yr sya nag work and was promised when he was hired na they will sponsor him. Umalis na lang yung nag hire sa kanya na production manager and when he opened it up on the new production manager, he was told that they never sponsors. After nun he just kept working until naka lipat sya ng ibang company that did promise him IN WRITING.

So if you find work just work to keep you afloat tapos never stop looking for the job you want and hope they will sponsor you.

No. only the 4th sem ang nabayaran namin.

I don't know magkano ang sem sa ibang school and course. Sa Charles Darwin University 2014-2015 10.5k$ 2015-2016 11.5K$ so probably aakyat na naman eto this year.

Then in the 1st year nahirapan maghanap ng work and overwhelmed pa asawa ko sa assessments and studies nya, i don't want to pressure her about work. Dahil BS lang di masteral yung nursing ang dependent is limited to 40hrs fortnight work. So it was just enough for our weekly dito. Kung masteral pa sana yung course then mas better kasi ang dependent can work full time (if this happened) then i could have paid the tuition without help from the philippines.

Simple breakdown (20hrsx22$)=440$ per week. (200$ rent, 100 food, 50$ fuel)
So lets say in 1 week na save ko is just 50$ (+/-) so in 1 month 200 lang na sa save namin.
Ginawa ko was di ko sya na ipressure to work para maka concentrate sya sa studies. I know i can borrow the funds in the philippines anyway. Mas mahirap pag mabagsak say sa studies and will break down. So balance din with your partner is crucial be with your partner through thick and thin. I took care of the finance and help her encourage and do whatever i can on her assignments and essays (kahit wala akong alam) as long as she knows i am with her.

    Good luck guys!

sir DC, if limited hours po ba, hindi ka makakapag apply ng work na gusto mo? let's say IT instead of delivery boy, dishwasher, etc? actually i don't care kung ano work as long as mas higher ang pay, yun kasi talaga need para maka survive. but cyempre mas ok kung sa field mo and also having the right job, in return good pay which i believe hindi lang $22/h. any thoughts? thank you po ulit!

@redhax hello, most jobs kasi here lalo sa IT ka would require fulltime, not unless makahanap ka ng employer na would hire you at 20hrs lang per week. mostly ang nakikita ko na part time job, more than 20hrs ang nirerequire, say 25-30 hrs. swertihan din minsan, kaya sa umpisa tyagain na lang muna kung ano meron na trabaho mahanap. lalo, most citizen here karamihan sa kanila nagwork part time because of the benefits they receive sa govt nila.

@agentKams thanks sir! actually i prefer to work full-time then wife ko mag study kasi so i can still support financial needs. how difficult kaya makahanap ng work as IT? i'm just curious kung, how long it will take to look for an IT job? for my work experience, more than 10yrs as IT, manager role na, but of course i can take L1 or L2 for a start of new chapter in AU. thanks!

so wife is taking masters? that's good, coz wala ka restriction sa working hours. am not sure as to how difficult in finding IT work, but base on experience it is always difficult the first time. kaya tyaga lang sa paghahanap. it don't matter as well if you previously held managerial role or entry level, dahil na din sa requirement nila ng local experience. pag sa big cities am sure madami opportunities dun for your field. :)
