On 18 April 2017 the Australian Government announced a range of changes to Australia’s
visa programme. These were announced at about midday on 18 April and come into effect at midnight on 18 April. That means the changes are immediate.

Before going into detail, there are a few important points to note:
    • The focus of these changes is on the 457 work visa. This is not a skilled migration visa.
    • The Australian Prime Minister stressed that Australia is the most successful multicultural country in the world and wants to keep it that way. Foreigners will always be welcome in Australia.
    • The requirements to obtain a 489, 189 or 190 skilled migration visa have not changed. The pass mark remains 60 points and the points table has not changed.
    • There have been changes to the list of occupations eligible for the 489, 189 and 190 visas but the impact of these changes will be minimal and most of the occupations removed are ones that I have never even received an enquiry about.
    • The state nomination process for the 489 and 190 visas remains the same. This is the most significant change to the work and skilled migration visa programme since July 2012. The changes in July 2012 were widely publicised and appeared, on the surface, to be significant but had very little impact on anyone’s eligibility for skilled migration. The changes announced on 18 April 2017 are similar.

Congrats @Bart_SanJose that was quick!!! I cant wait to get my NBI clearance on Monday so that I can upload it immediately. Until now, thats the only document missing for me.

However, my new passport is available for pick up na in DFA with my new surname.

Or better get the new passport and submit passport details change?

as it turned out, ni-rewrite ng asawa ko lahat ng forms ko..HAHAHA!!kaya ganun siguro..oks update ko na yung tracker..hehe..dun na lng ako mag-additional questions.. :D

Akala kp 457 lang yung napalitan, then I started reading sa DIBP site and found na may mga occupations na natanggal..one of them is market research analyst. buti nalang yung marketing nasa csol pa, ewan lang new name ng csol. will take the soonest ielts or pte. praying for an 8 para makapag submit ng EOI.

Hello guys. I need your advice/opinion. Mag lodge palang ako ng acs (for skills)and vetasess (for educ since non-IT ang course ko) assessment. Given the recent changes and baka may future changes pa esp by July, is it ok lodge my assessment now or wait until July para malaman ko ano ung changes? Kasi lalabas ung result ng assessment ko around june na. So baka maka lodge ako ng eoi sa july na and by that time bka meron changes which will require me to do another acs and vetassess assessment. Ang worry ko baka masayang ang pera ko sa assessment if need din magpa assess ulit sa july. Btw, nakapag take na pala ako ng pte last month.

Please shed me some light on this. Appreciate your insights. Thanks po :)

I copy-pasted below from a newsletter from one of the agencies.

    "Australian Resident Return Visas

I continue get asked a lot of questions about the Australian Resident Return Visa (RRV). There seems to be a lot of confusion and misunderstanding about the RRV so I will try to address some of the most common questions here:
Firstly, it is important to note that the PR visa you granted is permanent. The visa notes that you are permitted to remain in Australia "indefinitely". That means that once you are in Australia you can remain there for as long as you want and will always be a lawful permanent resident. While you remain in Australia you do not need to renew anything and can even let your passport expire. You will always be legal and hold PR status.
The PR visa allows you to enter and leave Australia for a 5 year period. Once that 5 years are up you need to obtain the RRV. This is not an extension of your PR status in Australia but a renewal of your permission to travel into and out of Australia. To be granted an RRV you need to show "close ties" to Australia. Anyone who has spent a cumulative total of 2 years in Australia in the 5 years prior to the RRV application being submitted will automatically be granted the RRV. If you have not spent 2 years in Australia then they will consider other factors. This can be almost anything but common factors include property ownership, business ownership, investments, whether your children are enrolled in school there, membership of professional bodies etc etc etc. They do also consider your intent to make Australia your home in the near future through evidence such as a contract to start work there in the near future."

@ruzzelletin hello. Based sa mga nakikita ko online, ang last 60 pointer na nainvite jan ay July 2016 dated pa ang EOI. So medyo maliit ang chance na mainvite pag 60 pts lang, or matagal maghihintay. But regarding the creation of EOI, pwede ka na gumawa ngayon and just update it once you get the PTE scores you desire.
