Hi again..:) I have a question..
In ACECQA approved qualifications for educators working with over preschool aged children,
is this for children ages 0-5 or the pre-primary level? My school is included but I'm not sure if I can have my qualifications assessed as an ECE teacher.

by the way, i asked ACECQA and AITSL if they can credit my units in ECE, but sadly they don't assess incomplete qualifications, kahit thesis lang ang kulang..:( sad, I really want to be an ECE teacher there.

    Last question,
do you have any idea about RPL (recognition of prior learning)? ACECQA suggested that I discuss this to them and they might give credits for the units I have completed. I tried to search about this, but, hindi ko talaga magets..

You can tick the box for Skilled Employment Statement along with your Skills Assessment application form para isang pasahan lang. :)

I've also replied to your personal message. But anyway, ask them which subjects/courses you are missing from your degree and perhaps your university can make the clarifications.

Hello! Tafe is one of the most common Registered Training Organisations that offer Cert III in ECE. Other than that there is ACCCO, and so on. Here is the link to the Tafe Brisbane course if you're interested to learn more about it: http://tafebrisbane.edu.au/course/10188/certificate-iii-early-childhood-education-care

And yes, you are eligible to work in an Early Childhood setting as soon as you enrol in the course. Good luck! :)

I am currently teaching in Victoria. Tama po si @sunflower about the requirements. May experience ka na ba as a teacher @Seulange kase this might determine if VIT will consider u a grad teacher or not.

Also, i have to look back at my previous notes when i applied for my teacher registration pero may namention dn ata sa VIT requirement n kelangan ng at least 1 yr post grad studies. I have to double check though.

Ooooops way back pa pala ung question. Haha. I saw it just now.

@sunflower thanks for all the help. It's been a while and i chance upon this forum again. Your replies were really helpful.

I am now working under DET as a classroom teacher in a specialist school here in victoria.

Share ko lang how i got the job.

This was june 2016, i was still in kuwait where i did not renew my contract. Victoria and qld both had the same requirements. So i was thinking of submitting my teacher registration application to both states. When payment time came e $249 ang fees sa qld and $99 naman sa vic. Hinold ko ung sa qld and i paid my vic application. Hehe. So underway n application ko as a provisional teacher since kelangan ng minimum 80 days of teaching experience in australia to be fully registered.

Since sa vic ako nag apply ng teacher registration e dun n dn ako nag apply ng trabaho. I targeted public schools since maganda benefits.

I passed my cv. Then i was asked for selection criteria responses. At first dineadma ko un. And i dont remember getting any favorable response. So i read abt it. And apparently this is one if the first things that employers look at to get u shortlisted.

So i started answering them everytime i apply. Usually schools have similar criteria. Then i started getting emails. While inwas still in Kuwait, i was interviewed via skype. I got a job offer after a few weeks. Since the principal had to speak with my character references who were in different parts of the world and it was raamdan, it took him a while to get a hold if them.

I went back to pinas and received a job offer in July. The principal asked me when i can start. And the rest as they say is history. :)

It's always inspiring to hear success stories! Is there a reason you wanted to move states? You are already registered in Victoria after all, and they said Melbourne is one of the most livable cities in the world. Anyway, if you choose to move to another state, it wouldn't be too difficult to get a transfer of teacher's registration. You would really just pay another fee.

Brisbane, Queensland is a really good city. It's in between the super busy city feel of Sydney and the rural feel of Perth. The people are nice and chill, not in a rush all the time. I wouldn't be able to comment regarding the school setting though so you would have to do your own research regarding that matter.

Ikr!?! I'm so ecstatic to find out that there are other pinoy teachers here in au.

Moving states- i heard that the northern territory pays better that's why i'm thinking of moving states.

Maganda naman benefits and pay dto sa victoria pero gusto ko dn matry sa iba so may point of comparison ako. :)

I'm 3.5 hrs away from melbourne. Relaxed dn ang lifestyle dto and mas mura. I guess im still at a point where i want to explore other options. :)

Hello brave teachers! Ask ko lang paano process para magpa assess ng qualification sa ACECQA? My wife qualification is Bachelor of Early Childhood Education sa PNU po. Currently working as childcare teacher here sa SG for almost 7yrs. Meron na po kami PR Visa, and planning to move in Sydney this September.

Ano po initial job na pwede na pasukan, nag checheck kami online and it seems need ng Certificate III or equivalent as the least for childcare teacher. But her qualification is not listed on the approved ECT list ng ACECQA, so I think need niya pa-assess.

    Maraming salamat po in advance!

Hi, @haunter08 and congratulations on receiving your PR grant!

To get her qualifications assessed by ACECQA, she'll need to:
    -complete the application form;
-attach the necessary certified documents; and
    -pay the fee.

Please note that ACECQA WILL accept electronic scanned versions of certified documents as part of the application. However, they reserve the right to request original certified documents at any time.

The application, required documents, and other things she need to know will be on this page: http://www.acecqa.gov.au/Assessment-of-equivalent-early-childhood-educator-qualifications

    @haunter08 hi!

I want to ask you about your wife's teaching career in Sg, if okay lang?

Im here in pinas teaching kindergarten and a recruitment agency contacted me for a job orientation as a preschool/kinder teacher there in Sg. I would like to try it but I have some apprehensions.

How can I contact you or your wife? (since my questions deviate from this group's topic)

I really need your help. Thank you so much in advance.

@simplykrish Hello, I am a provisionally registered teacher in Victoria already. However, I did not have much luck in getting a teaching job. So currently, I am working as a coordinator/ team leader at outside school hours care. And since getting a teaching job seemed a little hopeless for me as I never really had a formal teaching experience, I just decided to take post grad studies in early childhood education. :)

Hi @Seulange, when my colleague was based in Melbourne, she worked as a CRT. have u tried ur luck applying as a casual? The pay is good too, particularly now that the AEU is passing an agreement for wage increase.

Are u willing to go rural? What's your major?

@Simplykrish Hello. I took up bachelor of secondary education major in English. I personally think they would prefer Australians to teach English. I have also applied through anzuk. But for some reason, they told me to get more local teaching experience. I was thinking of going rural. But, it is not really an option now.

@Seulange i have some colleagues who are regular or secondary teachers working in special ed. Hndi sila mashado mahigpit sa victoria. As long as u have a VIT registration, u can teach in any school, so dont just apply as an english teacher. May opening sa school namin for a middle school teacher. Apply ka na sa ROL. The job advertisement will close on Thursday. :)

Hi to all filipino teachers on this forum. Need your inputs re: teacher assessment. I am trying to help my sister to migrate here in oz. Her situation is a bit complicated because its almost 10yrs already when she stopped teaching. I have read the assessment requirements from teachers australia and would like to confirm the following:

    1. Education - 4yrs bachelors degree. She completed a bachelors degree in chemistry (non-educ degree). I think she will satisfy the requirement.

    2. Initial teacher education - at least 1 yr full-time study - She studied teacher/education units in order to be eligible for PRC licensure exam (she passed the PRC exam Secondary teacher). I think she will satisfy the requirement.

    3. Completion of a minimum of 45 days of supervised teaching practice with students across the age range of 13 - 18 years in a secondary school setting. She did not do any practice teaching because when she was taking up her educ units at the same time she was already teaching in a private school. The university where she studied her educ units told her there's no need for her to do practice teaching since she's already a teacher (it makes sense actually). Plus when she was teaching back then, she was being mentored/guided by a teacher or faculty head which is a qualified teacher. I called teachers australia to clarify, i was advised that the practice teaching element is required and in my sister's case, 'coz she was already a teacher back then and the university must have taken that she already met the practice teaching requirement.
This is where I am bit unsure in terms of supporting evidence but I am thinking she can ask her university to provide a letter with information required by teachers australia stating that she met the criteria of practice teaching.

    4. Since she stopped teaching for almost 10 yrs already, she does not have any relavant work experience to claim. Teachers australia only assess the education, practice teaching, english requirements and not the work experience component right? We are not going to claim any points for relevant work experience anyway. She will get 60 points without points for work experience.

To sum it up, we think she can get a positive skills assessment. Any thoughts pls? Thanks

    Cheers

I'm Ayra. I'm currently a marketing manager with 7 yrs of experience. I hav a business management degree but I want to migrate in Oz as a pre-school teacher. My ministry in church is to teach under privileged kids which lead me to my decision to course correct. Just want to ask which one between taking up an associate degree in Uni or bachelors in tafe both covering early childhood education is a better option. Or hope you can give me other tips that I may gut no have considered. Thanks in advance

@Seulange @Simplykrish thank you for your reply. From the Vic immigration website, Primary School teacher has a special requirement of having an experience teaching certain languages such as "French, Italian, Indonesian, Japanese, Vietnamese etc". And it is not required for Secondary School Teachers which is your case. I even spoken to Vic Immigration personnel and they are really strict on that specific requirement. Do you know any Primary School Teacher who satisfied such requirement?

@stellabby hi dear, im a primary school and special ed teacher here in victoria. I think since primary naman background mo, u can just claim that u have taught filipino, which is a foreign language. But i really dont remember presenting anything to that effect. I do have TESOL, secondary, primary, special ed qualifications and other specializations though. I dont know if any of my documents supporting those credentials already fulfilled the requirement that u mentioned.

@Simplykrish . Thank so much for your reply and I appreciate your insights. I have attached the screenshot of the State Nominated Occupation List with primary school teacher requirements from Victorian immigration and as you would notice, they have mentioned the specific languages required. This is keeping me with less confidence as I am currently teaching in a public school and I never have experience teaching those. I am pleased to know that you did not have to present any of those language teaching experience but were able to secure a visa.

@stellabby that is really interesting. I taught in California and Kuwait where i was exposed to students who speak Spanish and Arabic respectively. However, I never taught those languages. If i were u, i will have my qualifications assessed by aitsl first. Are u already here in victoria?

If not, you have other states to choose from if victoria insists on you having to have experience in foreign language teaching. But i'm really confident that it is not a requirement to be registered with VIT. They are more concerned with teacher standards and ur knowledge of their currcilum.

Hi Ayra! In order to migrate through the Skilled Migration stream, you'll need a bachelor degree that is related to the skilled occupation that you are applying for. So if you would like to apply as an Early Childhood Teacher, you'll need to have an education-related degree. You mentioned that your degree is related to business management, I looked into the list of eligible skilled occupations, but unfortunately, it is not on the list located here: http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/Work/Skills-assessment-and-assessing-authorities/skilled-occupations-lists/combined-stsol-mltssl
Since you do not have any way of migrating with a skilled visa, your options would be applying for a student visa or a working holiday visa instead.
