Hi, anyone knows how easy it is to find a dog-friendly apartment in Sydney or Melbourne? We're bringing our 6lb (2.75kg) baby with us. Pa-share po ng experience nyo... Thanks.

Mahirap....btw, are you aware that dogs moving to Aus requires 6 months quarantine in an accredited country like Singapore and one or two months quarantine in Aus bago irelease sayo. That was the rule last year, check mo ulit. In the previous forum, I was discourage by all kababayan due to the sky rocketing cost involved.

My dear mahihirapan ka and magastos. Yes, aside sa flight fare, you need to buy a crate, dapat vaccinated sya, may recommendation ng vet na di matrauma or ok lang sa plane, iquarantine aso mo.

About where to get an apartment kaunti lang natanggap.

We love dogs and cats here but yung custom dito mahigpit sa mga animals lalo na makitang depressed aso Hindi palalabasin and you will pay for all the cost. :(

Sorry darling, it breaks my heart to discourage you unless you are willing to spend then bring your doggy along.

    Ta.

Just want to share some of our experiences in importing our tiny dog (6 lbs).

The step-by-step procedure can be found at www.daff.gov.au/aqis/cat-dogs. It looks daunting at first.

6 months and required quarantine period after rabies vaccination. At least one month dapat nasa AUS quarantine facility (AQIS). In our case, 5 months outside AUS living a normal life and then 30 days sa kulungan ng AQIS Eastern Creek outside Sydney.

She lost almost 30% of her body weight.

Regular visiting times sa AQIS Eastern Creek: Tue and Thu from 1:30-3:30 pm.
Special visits can be arranged -- total of 1 hour per week (on top of the regular visiting hours). So pwedeng dalwang 30mins on Mon, Wed, or Fri.
Note: AQIS can be flexible on special visits kapag di maganda ang condition ng dog/cat. In our case, since nagstart mag-lose ng weight, pinayagan ako bumisita ng 30mins on Mon, Wed and Fri. Since kakarating ko lang nman sa Sydney early this month at naghahanap pa lang ng work, ok lang na mabisita ko sya as frequent as everyday. Pero sobrang layo nang facility. Nagko-commute lang ako kaya inaabot ako ng 6 hours from leaving the apartment in the morning until coming home late afternoon. Tapos medyo malayo pa ang lalakarin from bus stop.

Grooming and exercise sessions can be arranged in place of special visits mentioned above.

AQIS provides dry food. Kasama yun sa boarding fee na binabayaran ($39 per day!). Since wet food and kinakain ng aso nmain, nagdadala ako ng supply. This was especially crucial in our case.

On top of that, concerned din kami sa condition nya kasi di masyadong kumakain. Tapos malamig at maulan-ulan pa kaya siguradong di kumportable ang maliit na dog. Buti at nakasurvive naman.

...Going back to the original topic, medyo nahirapan nga kami nkahanap ng apartment na pwede ang dog. In almost all cases, hindi allowed ang dogs sa apartment buildings in Sydney.

kaso syempre kung na-attach na ang dog sayo ng sobra sobra, gusto mo na ding dalhin sana...though mas practical to buy another one when you get to Au nalang...sana next time maging mas madali and cheaper nalang and LESS COMPLICATED ang pagdadala ng pets... :((

@misteraussie Did you eventually end up getting a rental apartment/flat or a house? Super strict ba yung landlord mo? We're going to bring our dog from Singapore to Sydney after I settle in. Naka-contact na kami ng pet mover so medyo naka-schedule na yung pagaayos ng papers for export/import, but the part that I'm dreading the most is trying to find a place that will allow pets.

Since then kumuha uli kami ng isa pang aso :)

@misteraussie ah okay. Did you have any references mentioning your dog? Balak ko kasi kumuha ng reference from my current landlord and maybe from the condo manager. Sana di ako mahirapan maghanap.

Wala namang ni-require sa amin. Pero bring as much documents about your dog as you can.

I have heard that in Vacation Rentals in Orlando one can take their pet to. We have a small cocker spaniel and she travels pretty much everywhere with us. We would like to know if this is possible and if there are any risks.
