Hi! Im an Account Officer working for a local bank here in the Phils. I do financial analysis as part of my job as an Account Officer but I am not an Accountant though. Can I apply as an Accountant or Finance Manager in Australia as a skilled worker? Need your advise. Thank you.

@batman medjo mahirap nga. Naghahanap ng local experience and MYOB knowledge. Konti lang din kasi available jobs dito sa Darwin unlike other states.

@joyee my husband did, no harm done. one job we had walked in (bupa) diretso agad siya interview but this is for odd job. try to drop sa mga recruitment agencies if they have anything related to your job they might be of help.

@joyee Hi! I considered going to Darwin but my friend who lives there discouraged me because maliit daw compared to other states, so less opportunities. But she has three jobs now and 2 of those are odd. One as a mystery shopper (this is online-based), another is parang on-call house cleaner. Best of luck to your job-hunting!

@joyee Citizen na sya, early this year lang. She even took a short course sa uni when she first got there. Sabi ko, bakit ayaw nya ng office-based job. Sagot nya naman, mas malaki pa daw most times ang kinikita ng house cleaners kesa sa nag-ooffice. Don't know how true.

Sa sydney ako so di ko alam kung effective sa Darwin, but what I did was, in addition to applying via Seek/Indeed, I sent Linkedin messages to the recruiters here stating my experiences and asking if they know any relevant opportunities. The company who offered me a job was a client of a friend of one of the recruiters I messaged via Linkedin. Malaking factor talaga networking and connections dito.

For odd jobs, normal ang walk-in. for Professional or office jobs-nope.

@JCPM03 hindi nirerecognize ang Philipines CPA license dito. as for accounting-related job, its not impossible to get one as long as you have the experience they are looking for.

@JCPM03 immigrants here irrespective of their profession have a hard time getting job in line with their work experience, how much more one without one. For you to be at par with Aussie jobseekers, you either have the experience or the Aussie education to jumpstart your career. At kung wala ka man lang ni isa dun, how can you compete with the tight competition here especially accounting-related jobs. Odd jobs are not bad actually coz they can pay the essentials, however, if you want a career in accounting, you need to upgrade or have at least the experience.
