Just received my ITA for 489 (relative) 2 weeks after ko maglodge ng EOI. Kaso still thinking if antayin ko pa yung ITA for 190 or magtake ako ng PTE para maging eligible ako to apply for 189. 55 pts lang kasi ako without SS, relative sponsor. Any advice po?

nabasa ko naman kasi sa condition ng 489 na kelangan mo lang tumira sa region kung san si relative for 2 years and 1year full time work then you will be eligible to apply na for 887.

Sana po may makapagadvice sakin, may 60days pa ako para makapagdecide kung ilolodge ko si 489

@jomar011888 congrats in getting your ITA. Where is your relative located? May mga factors kasi na involved at depende sa situation mo kung better ba na mag antay ka ng 190 or 189 like occupation, points, etc.

for 189, depending upon your occupation and points, you may not get invited straight away lalo na kung kasama sa capped occupation ung sayo like accountants, IT, engineers, etc.

for 190, depending din sa state na kung san ka nag-apply ng SS. each state have their own processing time and it varies plus the state may have extra specific requirements for the occupation (like points, experience, etc.)

Yes, if you are granted 489, you have to satisfy the 2yr live and 1yr work in the same designated area where your sponsor lives. Just want to clariy, if your 489 is via relative sponsorship, it is not called "regional" but "designated" areas wherein much wider ung scope ng locations where you can live and work.

For example, if your relative sponsor is in Victoria, for purpose of 489, the entire state of Victoria is classified as "designated area" meaning you can live and work in Melbourne metro and the rest of Victoria.

Unlike if you for 489 via State Sponsorship, you have to live and work in "regional" area (this is not applicable to you).

Again, its up to you what do you want to do but consider the changes in immigration that have happened in the past, in general, its getting tougher and tougher to come here. Also, consider the time, money and effort that you are willing to exert if you will take PTE (what if hindi mo makuha ung score na required).

At the end of the day, don't waste the opportunity. So many people in this forum waiting for their ITA and very much happy to go via 489 just to get in to Australia.

    Cheers!

@jomar011888 oopps, I overlooked yung second post mo, sa Victoria ka pala. I am currently living in Melbourne and this is a nice city to live in and named as the most liveable city in the world consecutively for the past years.

Mate, I would suggest for you to grab the opportunity for 489. You are lucky that you have a sponsor in Melbourne. Other people in this forum are exploring smaller cities like Tassie, Darwin and Adelaide to get 489 state sponsorship.

@daye00 Depende po sa occupation kung pro rata o hindi. In my case, I submitted a 489 relative sponsor back in Sept 22 with 70 points total kasama na dun sponsorship. My occupation though is pro rata so malabo na mainvite ako sa 489. Currently hinihintay ko nalang yung 189 ko na 60 pts na I admit medyo matagal pa na hintay.

@daye00 I don't think it will be an issue if you are on a 489 visa. Employers will only check your eligibility to work in australia and any visa restrictions. In 489 relative sponsor, the only restriction would be you have to work/live in the same designated area as the sponsor. For example, if your sponsor is in Victoria then you want to apply ng work sa NSW then potentially may issue dun.

Employers do not know all visa types and categories so if you will browse seek.com.au you will see jobs posted says PR or citizen only, it means someone without any restrictions on hours. Student visas have restrictions on hours as part of their visa condition, they can only work 20hours per week. Some people on tourist visas try their luck in applying for jobs but technically they can not work due to visa conditions.

At the end of the day, employers would like to ensure that applicants have the appropriate working rights in Australia including unrestricted hours. I know people on 489 sponsor visa who managed to get full time jobs in big companies here and no issues.

@daye00 it depends on your occupation and points. As what the others mentioned here, there are occupations on pro-rata like accountants, auditors, IT, some engineering professions, etc. If your occupation is on those categories, lodging 489 will not guarantee a quicker invite..why, because there are so many applicants on queue and potentially with high points and as you are aware, immigration consider points, quota and occupation before they send ITA.

On the other hand, if your occupation is not on the pro-rata list or occupation na konti lang ang nagapply like social worker, chances of you getting an invite for 489 with 60 points is very likely.

Below is the link to immigration skills select invitation round 4-Oct.

    https://www.border.gov.au/WorkinginAustralia/Pages/04-October-2017-Round-Results.aspx

If you will see, for 489, someone got invited with a score of 60 points and that person lodged his/her EOI 3-October and got invited straight away.

Also note that for accountant, there is no ITA issued for that round.

Hello po sa inyo! Ask lang po ng question - as subclass 489, ano po ba ang medical insurance preference nyo? Yung covered sana pati ang pregnancy para in case mag deliver ang wife sa AU ay covered? And how much monthly? Hopefully someone can share their experience or advice. Thank you :)
