For Accountants - how long did it take you to get a job?

Hi, I am a newbie here and planning to process our PR for Australia. I would like to know your profession please? I a bit concern about mine, I am a CPA working in Dubai as Fixed Asset Accountant/Cash Accountant but definitely not yet qualified as CPA in AU's standard. What do you think is my chance in finding a job in AU?

@crizzy if your looking for a job in AU while overseas, slim chances. most of us here applied for permanent visa in order to live and work in AU. First thing mag take ka ng English test. tapos pa assess mo ang employment mo at bachelor degree, if assessment is positive pede kana apply sa portal nila ng expression of interest.

@janine0511 as long as you get the local experience go for it. I think it really boils down to three things:

a. How you present yourself in resume and cover letter
b. How you communicate during interviews (so essential)
c. Your past experience as an added value to the organization (do not neglect this, just because its not Aussie experience)

Hi all! I'm still waiting for my visa but i thought i could share here what the sister of my son's pedia who's also an accountant in oz shared to me. They moved there since around 10 years ago and advised me that when i get there, i should be willing to take on odd jobs because this "may" count as local experience. Because what the employers are particular there more than the skills which may be more or less the same for all, is CHARACTER REFERENCE. That's why you need someone who will refer you or someone they can contact to ask about how your working attitude is. References are important to them and my friend having been on the side of employer already and now connected with a government office said they always contact your previous employer for character check, which in the case if you worked an odd job, your supervisor at that time. So maybe good to disclose odd jobs worked locally in your application/resume. I hope everybody gets their dream jobs (and grant for me) soon.

Hello po, turning 4 years na ako sa work ko as finance officer dito sa pinas, Australian company po siya based here sa philippines. work ko po is supervising the finance and accounting department - full australian accounting cycle except lodging taxes, kasi si external auditor na gumagawa nun dun home office Qld. tanong ko lng po, if mag apply ako sa qld, i coconsider kaya nila ung expereince ko as local expereince? or baka mahirapan ako at kelangan ko pa ng local expereince ulit jan. gaan ba kalaki ung chances ko to get a job? non cpa po ako

May mga ka officemate akong australian sa gold coast, pwede ba sila maging reference ko?

@TasBurrfoot hello, im a cpa in ph,y last employer is JP Morgan i worked there for more than 2 years as Fund accountant. and prior in joing JP Morgan i alao work in different industries such as ABS-CBN Corp( 13 months as accountant) Meralco (5months as finance analyst) Pointwest Tech Corp( 2years as accountant).

Hello po, I am also an Accountant in PH. Last 2017 i got my CPA license din po dito sa PNG where i am currently working as a General Accountant (July 2018-Present). Ask ko lang po kung madali po bang makahanap ng work sa Australia if galing dito sa PNG? Accountanting related post po sana. Though may Internal Audit background din po ako. Salamat

hi @Chuchay13 wala pa, arriving on the last week of may pa. uu nga, i've been hearing and reading na mejo matagal ang job search for accountants because mataas competition plus the lack of experience. but i'd like to believe makakahanap pa rin naman cguru. what are your experience so far with your job hunt?

hello guys, question lang baka may idea kayo.. kakatangap ko kasi ng job offer and currently on going ung background check, ang plan ko kasi sana habang background check, uuwi sana ako sa pinas tapos babalik nlng mga 2 days bago start date ko. ang worry ko, baka kasi magkaaberya pag wala ako dito sa australia, makita nakaoffshore status ako. thanks you
