Hi guys just want to ask how did you ship all yer stuff going to Australia? Then the agent told me under Australian law you cannot ship your used items to australia its prohibited. Thats the weirdest rule that ive ever heard. So guys how did you send yer stuff going to australia? Ive heard people used containers and sea freight their stuff but I dont have that much stuff I just have one big box full of things. oo nga ang weird. yung mga nasa LP ba hindi nagshiship ng boxes to other countries aside from pinas? siguro try nyo yung mga low-profile na courier companies.

big box is ok but the weight allowed daw is only 20kg.

i tried this called them they look decent http://www.astro-movers.com/moving-to-australia.html
but they cost a bomb $16 per kg :-((

what i meant of agent is ung call center agent of fedex hehe. Depends on the courier fedex do not allow shipping used items in australia but other couriers you can. Its faster if you do via airshipping than seafreight. Pag seafreight itll take 2 months daw due to quarantining stuff.

Phils to AU try DHL. Php 9-10k for 25kg, depending on the exchange rate I guess. Mas mura sila sa iba like LBC na around Php 19k ata. Akala ko nga nagbibiro nun sinabi sakin over the phone. Pero in the end, ginawa na lang namin nag-prepaid additional baggage allowance with Qantas na $90 for 20-23kg 1pc luggage. Mas mura.

thanks Bryann...I'm curious to know if there's anyone here who have shipped their furnitures to Au...I know it will not be financially sound, but wife is persistent, having sentimental value on some of those things, so naghahanap ako ng best practice from those who have done it in the past.

Hmm not sure about that, unless sobra mahal nun furnitues, I'd suggest benta niyo na lang or ipatago muna sa kamag-anak then bumili na lang dito. Medyo mahal ang costs especially bulky items.

@Bryann won't recommend it specially since there are lay by furniture in oz naman. i shipped my things from nz to au cost me around 3k nzd via shared container van for 2 months plus. the only pro was we had appliances (like the full lot of appliances from fridge to tv.) na from nz which were only a year old so really wanted to bring them instead of buying new appliances kasi if you work it out..3k nzd is still cheaper than buying brand new specially for tv and whitewares.

so work out how much you will save and how much will you spend if you do ship your items.. sometimes it does warrant to ship them if you really have nice things back home. pero if the cost of shipping them..and upon checking the prices on items online sa au is almost similar or it works out cheaper to buy new in au then think about it.

shipping items usually takes 2 months..so imagine if you can live for 2 months in au without a bed or fridge..hahahah..kasi kami we borrowed items from my sister if my sister wasn't here super mahirap na walang gamit sa bahay.

also with appliances..ask if ok bah if galing pinas kasi may rulings sila about electrical appliances na dapat ganito specs and etc. you would need an adapter for most of your things kasi the prong tips won't fit in the oz electrical sockets.

but as for the furniture mas ok na dito na lang in au in retrospect or should have just gotten a fully furnished apartment. kasi furniture wise..madaming lay bys or if you want talaga cheap there's lots of 2nd hand but ok pa din quality madami sa gumtree or ikea if you want brand new:)

for odd shaped items like bikes and furniture.. you would really need a shared container van kasi yung boxes are priced per cubic metre. so if odd shaped items.. they will price it based on the space you take up sa shared container van.

hello sa nagpaship na from SG to AU, i'm only shipping around 50kg to melbourne, I know Singpost is around S$216 ito na ba yung by ocean freight?
Though may option din ako ipadala from pinas, may extra na space pa kasi ko sa box ko na papuntang pinas. Then pwede ko din ipaship from Pinas so either from pinas or sg kung alin mas mura mas ok.
