    PTE Writing Tips

For writing essay I used E2 language format and applying what I learned from Ielts. Sa intro, sa 1st sentence ni restate ko lang yung question using my own words. Then sa 2nd sentence if one sided lang yung question, I give summary of the reasons ( 2 reasons only). Example, if ang essay is about importance of computers (one sided), eto 2nd sentence ko. Computers are valuable resources as they (1st reason) aid in learning and are (2nd reason) used to communicate with others. Then sa 3rd sentence sasabihin ko para pampahaba-- In this essay, I shall discuss my point of view by giving points and examples about the topic.

Then sa 2nd paragraph, elaborate ko na ang 1St reason. Mga 2 sentences na magsupport sa 1st reason, like if yung 1st reason ko is aid in learning, expand ko ang topic by answering how computers aid in learning, etc. Usually yung reason mo convert mo by asking how, what, when, or who. Tapos sa 3rd sentence, I state examples. Pwede ka din mag add pa ng 4th sentence parang isummarize mo lang ang 2nd paragraph.

Sa 3rd paragraph discuss naman ang 3rd reason same sa ginawa sa 2nd par.

4Th paragraph 1st sentence conclusion, then 2nd sentence recommendation.

If 2 sided naman yung intro pwede mo gamitin yung nasa template like kina Heprex na samples. Then yung 2nd par yung kabilang side, then yung 3rd paragraph yung other side. Tapos same last paragraph.

If medyo nahihirapan ka sa mga ideas, research ka dito sa forum ng mga recent topics. Tapos based dun sa topic reasearch ka anong pwedeng maging points and reasons para may idea ka na ano ilalagay mo sa essay.

Ang key talaga sa writing is dapat marami ka ideas. If nahihirapan ka mag construct ng idea try to research as much as possible. Google mo yung mga common or recent topics on pte writing tapos may mga sample questions dun,, then research mo ano possible answers para sa actual exam may idea kana ano isasagot. Tapos dpat familiarize mo mga connectors (like moreover, therefore, for instance, etc) kasi mas mataas ang grade kapag medyo complex ang sentence na ginagamit mo kesa simple sentences lang.

For summarize written text strategy ko is to first get ano main topic. Then analyze what important points were given, may nangyari ba? If meron ano ang nangyari, kelan nangyari? ano at para kanino ang purpose? Usually kasi sa mga paragraphs naka detail lang pero yung point lang naman dun is parang dinedescribe lang yung main topic. If you can answer who/what, when, how and why about the topic pwede mo na pagdugtungin yung ideas mo thru connectors and form a sentence. If you will have multiple paragraphs, summarize mo muna per paragraph then summarize mo ulit lahat in one sentence

Another tip also in writing as much as possible do not repeat the same words. If you dont have much stored knowledge about synonyms okay lang. Practice and Research is the key. Kaya malaki ang help sa akin yung pag research sa mga common or recent topics kasi while practicing pwede akong mghanap ng synonyms then mas madali ko syang ma recall sa actual exam kasi nagawa ko na sya before. Tapos if meron kayong word na ma encounter na parang hirap kayo mag elaborate, google nyo din anong synonym or phrases na pwedeng same meaning ng word. Share ko yung nilista kong mga synonyms na possible na magagamit sa mga essay kasi minsan these are the topics commonly asked.

Congrats in Advance sa maiinvite at makakareceive ng grants ngayong taon!

    Occupation: 233214 (Structural Engineer)

    POINTS BREAKDOWN:
    Educ: 15 (Degree)
    Work Experience: 10 (5+ yrs)
    Language Skills: 10 (PTE-Proficient)
    Age: 30 points
    Total: 65 Points

    APPLICATION TIMELINE:

04/03/17 - IELTS R6.5 W6.5 S7.5 L8.5 Good enough for EA Assessment (>6 each category). Haha. Self-review and not much time to practice kaya mababa scores. Haha. (Cge justify!). I think ang mali ko is nagfocus ako magreview ng Speaking and Listening.
Note: Hindi pa acceptable ang PTE sa EA at this moment.

24/04/17 - Submitted my application to EA.

25/05/17 - EA requested for additional evidence of employment. I initially submitted Income Tax Return from my 2 employers so supposed to be enough. But since they requested more I uploaded my payslips then.

15/06/17 - Finally! Received positive outcome from EA. Yuhoo!

(Since not enough pa din IELTS english points ko to get total points higher than 60 requirement for Visa, i took another exam from PTE. Sabi nila mas madali daw kesa IELTS. Eh di Go! Tsaka sayang din yung score ko sa IELTS-Speaking baka bumaba pa. Haha)

03/07/17 - Took PTE Exam. Hindi Madali!!! Haha. Siguro kulang ulit sa practice. Lol. I wasn't expecting na makapasa kasi may part sa lecture na wala akong nasabi. Haha. Pero yun, naka-74 ave. pa din. I therefore conclude na lenient talaga sila magscore. Hahaha. PTE Scores: L73, R71, S78, W83 (Results are out the next day)

05/07/17 - Submitted EOI 189. Start ng fiscal year so everyone's expecting ng buhos ng invitation. Tan-tanan! Haha.

10/08/17 - Super tagal ng invitation! Daming bad news (nag-cut ng staff ang dibp, processing time updated from 3 months, na naging 7 months then naging 11 months) Sa inip nagpasa ng EOI 190 for NSW. Dito lang pwede structural engr mag-EOI na walang show money eh. Haha. Sana pala Civil Engineer na lang occupation na pinili ko.

06/09/17 - I got invited this round! Since ang tagal nga di ako nag-eexpect na kasama ako. Pero yehey! So I scheduled immediately for COC-Eappeal here in sg. Nagsked na din for medical (SATA Online).

11/09/17 - SPF notified me that my e-appeal was approved. So I set appointment for fingerprinting. Got my COC on 15-Sep.

16/09/17 - I am expecting to have my health exam. But decided to call SATA (the clinic) first to confirm my booking. They said they do not accept booking thru online. #Haist. The next available weekend dates are on the week after.

23/09/17 - Had my Health Exam at SATA Ang Mo Kio. Results came out after 1 working day only.

25/09/17 - Finally I LODGED MY VISA!!! Yuhoo ulit. I submitted all docs na pwede i-submit hoping for DG, hehe. (Forms 80 and 1221 included) Iniisip ko pa actually ano pa pwede ko i-add. haha.

30/09/17 - Habang nag-aantay ng grant, mag-analyze muna ako. hehe.

As per myimmitracker, below are the nos. of grants (For 189 lang ha) for the past 3 months:

    July : 29 grants
    Aug: 86 grants
    Sep: 611 grants.
Mabilis nag-escalate ang nos from aug-sep. So I think nagsisimula na sila magmadali starting Sep. So Oct will also be the same. May quota kasi sila need mainvite per occupation kaya dapat maghabol talaga sila. So I am expecting showers of grants for the month of Oct. "Expecting". haha.

God bless sa mga kasama kong nag-eexpect ng grant! and sa mga
waiting for ITA next week na ang invitation round. All the best sating lahat! Power!!

10/11/17 - Finally! Praise God! While busy working i accidentally opened my email and saw the new message from border.gov.au. Nanginig akong bigla sa tuwa. haha. I was supposed not to tell it yet to my family para surprise but I cannot contain it. Overjoyed feeling once mareceive mo ang iyong grant.

God bless to the rest na nag-aapply pa lang and sa lahat ng waiting ng grants nila. Darating din yan at God's appointed time. :)

@Pebbles nagtry ka na din ba mag visa 190? wala parin dumadating? di ko rin matantya ang Home Affairs kung ano balak nilang gawin sa invitation rounds. Keep the faith nakakatamad talaga mag antay ng every other week tapos pagdating ng rounds di parin tumataas number of invitations.

@shuroro Longer waiting times for invitation. If they will include the NZ stream, NZ and AUS education and occupations are the same so more points for them. Alternately, please be advised that most Kiwis go to Uni later in life (age 27 and older) so most likely, 189 applications are for skilled trade (vocational).

@shuroro Tulad nga ng sabi ni @heero_yuy51 mas mahabang waiting time, especially sa mga hindi masyadong mataas ang points (<70 for non-pro rata, <75 pro rata), dahil baka magka-backlogs dahil kaunti lang ang invites per round. Kaya kung kaya pang mapataas ang points mas maganda.

Hello everyone! Sorry, not sure if this is the correct thread, but I just have a few questions regarding visa application lodgement:

    1. Ano po yung dapat ilagay sa national ID?
    2. Sa first job ko, I only have a standard COE (no salary; no duties and responsibilities) and ITR. Nung nag request ako ng detailed COE, they told me dapat manager ko ang magpirma nito and not HR. Eh yung manager ko dati, wala na sa company na yun. Hindi ko na mahagilap. Wala na rin akong payslips. :( Okay na kaya yung standard COE and ITR? Although 5 years naman na ako sa current job ko, so even if wala itong experience na ito, 5 years pa rin ako. Pero kasi sinama ko ito sa EA assessment ko, so gusto ko isama na rin para consistent. And na-include ko rin siya sa EOI ko.

    Maraming salamat po.

@shuroro nasasagad yung invites sa pro rata occupations last fiscal year e. Ngayon daw kasi nagbawas ng personnel DIBP kaya isa din na factor. Sana lang talaga gumanda na invites in the coming months.

@HeyThereMaddie hello! For national identity, we used birth certificate only as advised by our agent.

You may try to get bank statements from your first job's payroll account as additional support. Not sure lang po sa chances na hingan ka talaga ng additional evidences.
