15 pts - if bachelor degree is comparable with Australian education (if your school falls to section 1) or if you are PRC board passer or with high grades (as per hearsay, we need confirmation for this)

    Hope this helps.

Hi @LokiJr, since mabasa ko dito sa forum yung about sa Section ng school affecting the score for the educational qualifications (to get a15), I checked the website ng DIAC at booklet, ala naman nakamention about this (pls let me know kung meron...) Based sa site, as long as certified na "recognised standard with an Australian Qualification", ok na iyon to get 15 (if BS Degree). And in able to know if equivalent siya to an AU Qualification, opinion from the assessing authority needs to be secured.

With regards to education documentations (certs, tor, etc), diba by right, these are necessary documents that you need to submit upon lodging the application? I mean, they will not be asking it for the reason that your school is in section 2 or 3 but mainly because, these are really needed as evidence to support the educational qualifications that an applicant is claiming.

    Cheers! :)

Hi po sa lahat. Ask ko lang regarding my TOR at Diploma. Kasi I went to this school na "XXX" ang name nya na isang State College. After few years upon graduation e naging State University na si school na "XXX". As of the moment kasi di pa ako nakaka request ng bagong TOR sa school ko kasi im working abroad. Any inputs kung pano po diskarte dito. Maraming Salamat.

Update ko lang to, my wife had a skills assessment. Her grade just lack .01 to have a cum laude in PLM. PLM is under section 2, seeing her assessment it looks like hindi bachelors degree ang binigay. I also applied for VETASSESS pts advice they have given me AQV Advanced Diploma. I graduated in Letran College Manila with good grades. In short, to claim for bach. degree you need to have your school under Section 1. Hope this helps other people.

6 years din ang work experience ko bro but VETASSESS still gives me AQV Advanced Diploma.

Better apply na lang sa vetassess ng points advice if you want to be sure. I got my result within 1 month.

    ----------
"Points for qualifications at Masters level can only be awarded where you have also completed a Bachelors degree recognised by the relevant assessing authority as being of a comparable Australian standard. To claim points for a qualification obtained overseas, it will need to be recognised as being of a standard comparable to the relevant Australian level qualification.

Generally, you will be able to request an opinion on your qualification claims from the relevant assessing authority when you seek your skills assessment."
    ----------

For mentioned qualification claims relevant assessing authority, just like for ICT  PASA Guidelines ng ACS ang assessment criteria is Group A, Group B and Group C... for this in my opnion if you're awarded Group A (as the highest) is it safe to consider 15points will be awarded by DIAC?

    Excerp from ACS PASA Guidelines:
    ----------
    2.1 ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
Suitable skills assessment applications fall into three (3) distinct groupings.
    1. Group A - refers to application type “Skills” on the application form. This application is for
applicants with a Bachelor Degree or higher, with an ICT major and ICT skilled employment.
    2. Group B - refers to application type “Skills” on the application form. This application is for applicants with a Diploma or Bachelor Degree, with a minor in ICT and ICT skilled employment.
    3. Group C - refers to application type “Recent Graduate” on the application form. This application is for applicants applying for skilled employment exemption. Applicants need to have completed an Australian degree for submission of this application.
    ----------

...... kung granted ng GroupA parang sakto na kasi sya sa statement na ito "completed a Bachelors degree recognised by the relevant assessing authority as being of a comparable Australian standard."

    ...any thoughts on this guys?

@mimaahk, thanks for posting this, you presented a valid point. I agree on this.

@sohc, thanks for updating us on how DIAC assessed your application. nagkausap na tayo last time sa philippines.com.au, sa "online application" na topic.

As I understand, your wife is the primary applicant who had her skills assessed by VETASSESS as AQF Advanced Diploma, this means that the BS Degree she earned from PLM was assessed as diploma. Now, you were saying that it seems DIAC awarded points that is corresponding to Diploma even though she completed a BS Degree. It is possible since VETASSESS classified this degree as equivalent to Diploma (I assume, they have considered the curriculum/subjects taken). As DIAC mentioned on their site, they will consider the opinion of the assessing authority.

But kindly note that we have different assessing authorities with different criteria, (I apologise, I don't have that much idea about VETASSESS, I visited the site only once, please correct me if I am wrong.) for ACS, groupings (Group A, B, C) are used to indicate whether the occupation your are claiming met the criteria and at the same time, it is also used to classify the degree that you have earned. @mimaahk have enumerated the criteria, I believe that once an applicant has been awarded with a positive assessment in Group A (or B, if you also have a BS Degree), your degree has been acknowledged and assessed to be equivalent to the Australian BS Degree Standard.

In my opinion, our assessing authorities actually dictate whether to classify the Degree (we are claiming) to Diploma or BS Degree.

For those who went through VETASSESS assessment, can you please enlighten us on what criteria you used.

Sa iba, ano po ang insights niyo on this. Salamat!

    Cheers!

I'm the main applicant bro, I received an ACS assessment of Group B but because may nabasa ako dito or some other pinoy forum na ayaw magbigay ng info ng ACS whether Diploma or Bach. Degree. Nabasa ko kasi sa qualifications website ng DIAC if your assessing body cannot provide opinion ask VETASSESS kaya nagapply ako ng Points Advice.

I lodge my wife skills assessment to claim for partner skills :)

@sohc, wait, wait, on your previous post you meant VETASSESS assessment result not DIAC yung sinasabi mo dito, let me quote:
Update ko lang to, my wife had a skills assessment. Her grade just lack .01 to have a cum laude in PLM. PLM is under section 2, seeing her assessment it looks like hindi bachelors degree ang binigay. I also applied for VETASSESS pts advice they have given me AQV Advanced Diploma. IF you are sharing your experience on how VETASSESS assessed the Degree to a AQF Advance Diploma even though an applicant is a Bachelor's Degree holder.

I browsed through VETASSESS ngayong umaga, hindi ba dahil ang pinakamataas na assessment na maibibigay sa Points Advice ay AQF Advance Diploma? Ala akong mabasa sa site na the result will determine whether the qualification an applicant is claiming will be assessed as equivalent Bachelor's Degree. Ang napansin ko lang na result ay, AQF Advanced Diploma or Trade qualification. or will they have assessment result with "AQF Bachelor Degree"?

    Points Advice:
    http://www.vetassess.com.au/migrate_to_australia/ts_points_advice.cfm

if you wish to nominate an occupation naman:
    http://www.vetassess.com.au/migrate_to_australia/qa2_nominating_occupation.cfm

    http://www.vetassess.com.au/migrate_to_australia/qa2_nominating_occupation.cfm#ListOccAssessByVETASSESS

these may explain, na ang grouping ng ACS for ICT Professionals, ay enough to certify that an .applicant's qualification is equivalent to AQF Bachelor's Degree.

after the visa grant, will an applicant know the points they earned? @sohc, since malapit na din naman ang result ng application niyo, kung nakaindicate ang points na nakuha niyo, most likely, you can predict how many points did DIAC give for each criteria particularly sa employment at educational qualification.

The educational background is not a deal breaker when applying for visas. If your skill is in demand in Australia and if you have a solid work experience under your belt, then getting your application granted is still very possible even if your school is under sections 2 or 3 :)

    Ikaw rin LokiJr, cool.

Correct. I don't know if this has been brought up - you can apply for work and request for work visa sponsorship and you can combine the work visa application together with your immigrant visa. You get the benefit of expedite processing of work visa application plus wala ka pang tali at restriction sa work kasi immigrant visa ang i-aaprove sa yo.

How can we claim 15pts. for Educational Qualification our options are to be able to have 65pts. in point system his OBS in IELTS should be 8.0 and he should approved a sponsorship.

I seek the opinion/advice of ACS by writing them thru general email regarding if my husband educational qualification is comparable with Australian Qualification Framework since his ACS result is in Group A, pero until now walang reply.

The way i see with ACS they don't refer with school sectioning in terms of their assessment parang basta ICT major ka at ICT employed ka automatic na Group A ka. It seems both DIAC and ACS do not have the same criteria in tems of how they will assess an applicant in Educational Qualification parang kanya kanya. :-(

05/17/11 - ACS favorable result released for my husband's skills assessment nominated job-261311 Analyst Programmer.
    12/10/11 - Hubby IELTS first take at BC result L & R-5.5, W & S-6.0 OBS=6.0 retake!!!
12/30/11- Hubby registered at 9.0 Niners.
03/15/14 - Hubby's comeback at 9.0 Niners preparing for IELTS test. Second attempt for Australian visa.
05/12/14 - Complete uploading of ACS skills assessment required documents and payment made thru direct deposit.
05/12/14 - ACS assessment application received.
07/02/14 - ACS skills assessment result suitable ANZCO code 262113 Systems Administrator as recommended by CO for hubby's job description rather than ANZCO 261311 Analyst Programmer the first ACS ANZCO result suitable released in 2011. I conclude ACS reclassifies ICT Occupations.
    - Work exp. 12yrs. less 6yrs deduction by ACS.
    - Educ. Qualification assessed as AQF Associate Degree major in computing for a 4yr. course BS. Computer Science in a section 2 school.

Your case indeed englightened me on the issue of educational qualification. Prior to this, my friend emailed ACS (Australian Computer Society) if he could claim 15 pts since he is suitable for migration under GROUP A, (equivalent to Australian Qualification Framework) whilst his school falls on section 2. ACS replied that what they could surely grant is 10 pts only for those seeking for educational qualification points and it will be in the separate letter report. 15 pts for Educational Qualification is SOLELY AT THE DISCRETION OF DIAC.

For those who are in section 2 that claims for 15 pts. Kaya mo bang isugal ang 2,930 dollars ? if yes, then GO. Those who have lodged already please keep us posted. But make sure na eksaktong 65 pts kayo ha? baka naman 70 pts kayo kaya naglodge kayo ng 175 kahit nasa section 2 school kayo.

Kapag nakalusot kayo, then spread the news para matulungan nyo ang ibang applicants na tulad ng friend ko na talagang desperado na. Thanks.

Thks!!! a lot tootzkie at least hindi man nasagot ng ACS yung letter ko which i think for a few months with them now maybe b'coz they need to open my husband's file again dahil nga tapos na yung assessment result parang nasagot na rin yung letter ko sa kanila. We cannot gamble such big amount of money and once DIAC had decided that your application was denied you can no longer apply to them, that's what i have read in booklet 6, i don't know if it was already amended or you can reapply pero its a waste of your hardly earned money, di ba?

To those who are on the same boat, please share us the news if you were granted a visa.

For us in safe way, my husband will try hard to get 8.0 OB in IELTS and apply for sponsorship...sana hindi kami kapusin sa panahon, we will try our best of luck. :-) :-)

    @tootzkie
Sobrang swerte kasi when I got my state sponsorship ngclose na position ko in 3 days. Sa post mo na yun my dream is almost a week away.

@all share ko lang ang points ko based on my own assessment:

    Age 27 = 30pts
    7 Years Exp = 10pts
    State Sponsorship = 10pts
    Qualifications = 10pts
    Partner Skills = 5pts
    Total = 65pts

    ACS 262113 / Arrived in Adelaide 19/02/12
    Employment started 19/03/2012
Enjoying the land down under :)

Thks!!! a lot tootzkie at least hindi man nasagot ng ACS yung letter ko which i think for a few months with them now maybe b'coz they need to open my husband's file again dahil nga tapos na yung assessment result parang nasagot na rin yung letter ko sa kanila. whew! sobra naman, bakit 8.0 ang hahabulin mong IELTS? mag-475 visa ka na lang. Yan ang uso ngayon hehehe.

Di ko alam kung kelan ako aalis baka January or March. Sobrang in-demand daw ngayon ang ICT kahit saang states. 90% daw ng bagong dating na migrants ay nakakakuha ng work in just 2 weeks kapag ICT ang occupation. Sana makahabol kayo.

@sohc wow, medyo nakatulong pala ako ng kahit konti sau heheheh. Walang anuman bro, kaya may forum sharing of ideas. Congratulations.

May job offer sakin last month sa Adelaide, at kpag hinintay nila ako, or kapag may confirmation na ang arrival ko at may job offer pa rin sa Hudson Agency in Adelaide, malamang dun ako, kitakits. Cheers.

@tootzkie, I'll see what will be the result of my husband's IELTS pag 7.0 or 7.5 OBS apply namin ang 475 pero malaking himala pag nag 8.0 OBS sya, he he he :-). Hmmm...napapaisip ako ngayon about sa sinabi mo to change 176 to 475 why not diba, if there's another more easy way to have that visa than 176. Baka try namin ang SA sana abutan namin kasi most of ICT nominated job dun closed na-special conditions apply...sana abutan namin.
