Racism/Discrimination (esp in Sydney)

mafimushkila123mafimushkila123 DubaiPosts: 203Member
Hello everyone!

I'm currently residing in Dubai, and one thing I hate here is the rampant discrimination. I heard good feedback from my friends about Au, na kesyo pantay-pantay daw ang treatment at never pa daw sila naka experience ng discrimination, so I thought heck mukhang mas okay nga sa Au. But then eventually I started to read and hear some stories na discriminating pa din daw dyan. How true? Has anyone of you experienced discrimination in any form? (especially yung mga nasa corporate world/CBD)? I would really appreciate if you could please share your stories.

Thanks!

There is no direct or blatant discrimination or racism dito sa Australia. Most companies (if not all), you can raise any experience/ racism and discrimination concern to HR and its a ground for dismissal. But its a fact of life, kahit saan siguro sa mundo (the hidden one). Just do your best, prove yourself, and be happy doing things that you do.

@mafimushkila123 there will always be discrimination no matter where you go. that's reality. siguro here in Australia hindi lang ganun karami and hindi lang bulgaran kasi alam nila ang consequences if they discriminate.

@mafimushkila123 So far wala pa naman ako naexperience na blatant racism but there are times na you might feel it pero it's very subtle.

@misterV hmm.. kung subtle i think kaya ko hehe. So sa corporate world di ka nila ipupush around at pagkakaitan ng opportunities just because pinoy ka ganyan? masaya na ko to know na may equal opportunity dyan regardless of race.. dito kasi mahirap talaga.

@mafimushkila123 yep, kelangan at grounds for termination kagad yun. matic. even with bullying. yung mga ginagawa sa pinas na joke time sa mga ka-opisina mo kahit nakakatuwa. dito pwede ka na ireklamo ng bullying, matic terminated ulit yon.

Being a Lesbian Filipino Migrant in Australia, I can tell you, I have never felt discriminated here for my race nor my sexuality.

Then again, I am pretty thick-skinned when it comes to the opinions of random strangers.

And tama si @LittleFinger, mga kapwa old-time Pinoys pa dito ang mapagmata at mayabang sa kababayan at sa ibang lahi.

we all need not to look further, mas rampant pa and discrimination sa PH. Being regionalistic (i.e. tagalog, ilocano, kapampangan, bisaya and many more) is already to my POV is discrimination. Why can't we all group together as one, representing a nation of progressive people and not by regions.

discrimination and racism will never go away, san man mapunta ang isang tao nandyan yan, kahit kapwa nila Aussie are discriminated much more ibang tao.
