What job and how much do average start-up Filipinos earn?

CossieCossie PhilippinesPosts: 9Member
Hello!

I am 22 years old and I have just gotten my Permanent Residency (offshore) through my father. I will be flying to New Castle NSW next month. Gusto ko lang pong mag ask, what are the common jobs most Filipino immigrants start with, and how much can we earn?

I'd be happy to take any jobs - waitress, bartending, kitchenhand, store person. I was thinking of living with my family for a month or so to save up and eventually move out on my own and apply for University next year.

Any tips, pointers will be highly appreciated!

@Cossie congrats on your PR visa.
I'm not in Australia yet, but based on what I have learned from friends and previous colleagues who are now in Australia, salary is not based on nationality. We should not label ourselves based on our race when it comes to finding jobs or when it comes to salary package. Just showcase your skills and capability.

The minimum salary in Au is around $18 an hour (that is without tax). There is this so called Junior rate where if you’re under 21, you’ll get a salary lesser than that of the adult pay.

@Cossie If you’re not picky and you present yourself well in interviews, I’d say it’s not too bad. Just prepare yourself physically, mentally and emotionally because you might do stuff here that you don’t normally do in the Phils. It’s well compensated though.
