My name is Jean-Christophe, I plan to go to Melbourne for work and my boss just offered me another post in Sydney (due to a resignation). I have the choice.. I don't really know what to do? I already book my flight from Bangkok but I am ready to go to Sydney if it is much more better. Thanks

    @JC45,
    you need to consider so many things: accommodation (both are expensive), transport (both efficient), food expenses (fair)
    you also need to consider your lifestyle
    both cities are a very nice place to stay though.

    i'm not in those cities, but rather in a city in QLD

    They’re both okay. Sydney is a bit more expensive than Melbourne, transportation wise and with the food as well. I’d say Sydney is more touristy compared to Melb. I live in Melb btw. With the accomodation, you can find a room for rent in Melb for $160 per week, this is in suburbs 20min away from the city.

    @dorbsdee I am 35. I like meeting people, and when I don't work I enjoy walking, nature. I don't mind to be a bit far from the city center because I enjoy quite and peacefull places.

    @JC45 Based from our experience, mas warmer ang Sydney compared to Melb. This was in May by the way. In Melb, you can experience 4 seasons in 1 day.

    @williamsons Hi . As I said in the others posts.

    " I am 35. I like meeting people, and when I don't work I enjoy walking, nature. I don't mind to be a bit far from the city center because I enjoy quite and peacefull places."

    And yes it will be my first stay in Australia. Went once in New Zealand.. but It's quite different I think. I probably will meet some people but at that time not really.

    Ok great ! In Sydney you can find beautiful spots for walking and look at the nature, Sydney is quite famous so you can meet people from all around the world but of course it is better to meet local people :) When did you plan to live here ? do not hesitate when you have decided which city you prefer, to ask for place to visit or neighborhoods etc ;)

    @JC45 it really depends on your situation and what you want.

    Sydney's cost of living (e.g. accommodation, public transpo, etc.) is much higher than Melb (ridiculously expensive). Weather wise, Melbourne is much colder compared to Sydney.

    I live in Melbourne, I liked it here and to be honest I was offered jobs with good pay in Sydney in the past but I did not accept.

    Melburnians are nice, food/fashion and sports capital of Australia, heaps of places to go, things to do. It is a big city but you don't feel like it's so busy. Lots of laneways with cheap and good food. Vibe here is different I should say.

    If you have the chance, I guess the best way is for you to suss out the two cities and decide which one suits you

    I'm Australian in paper but pinoy in form....Living in the most liveable city in the world...Melbourne! Oi, oi, oi!!!

    I understand what you mean.. It is a good advice, visit both and make a choice after that.
    After reading your post, you almost convinced me to chose Melbourne haha, not too busy, food, nice people.. :D The weather is not the most important thing for me.. thank you!

    @williamsons thank you I won't hesitate!

    Any way, is somebody could tell me about how you did generally to bring all your items with you? Is there any good company which could help me? I have some fragile object that I would like to take away with me to Australia.
