  @babie,
  check gumtree, just make sure about the car. Have it check by a qualified mechanic. Check if it has a RWC (road worthy certificate) issued by qualified person.
  
  in brisbane, there are used/second hand dealers that offer cheap, quality cars.
  just be aware of some car brands,
