Took my first PTE-A exam today. Hindi ko natapos yung WFD part kasi medyo natagalan din ako mag analyze ng sagot sa listening section at naubos ko ung booklet nung middle part ng listening section kaya nanghingi ako ulet. Kaso mga 1 minute or so cguro ako naghintay at kinausap ung invigilator para sa new booklet. Ginawan na lang nila ng complaint report yung nangyari sa akin kahit hesitant ako if irereport ko pa ba, naintindihan ko nman na marami din sila ni-assist nung time na kelangan ko ng booklet. May idea po kayo gano katagal ibigay ung result if nag file ng complaint report? kahit estimation lang... kasi if matagal, magtake na lang ulet ako. TIA

@carlomorato The PTE Academic website has the entire exam format, get used to the exam order first (including the introduction/mic test part)

I reviewed by exam order and went with the E2Language lessons on Youtube + PTE Gold Kit (for the mock tests) + Practice Tests Plus with CD-ROM (for the mock tests on the CD). Once you get the full exam order nailed down, focus on the parts you're having difficulty with.

@Supersaiyan 3 WFD sya. Medyo nakuha ko yung 1st WFD tapos ung 2nd putol na yung sentence pero may period.

@amifat, sken kasi yung last exam ko kinapos tlga ako ng oras, ni isang WFD item di ko naabutan, laki ng binaba ng score ko sa listening. Legit yung sinasabi nila sa youtube na kapag namiss mo lahat ng WFD kahit 65 pointer di ka aabot, once na namiss mo nman isa o dalawang item, though aabot ka ng 65 points pero di mo marereach yung 79+, if you're aiming for superior, I suggest take na ng panibagong exam kasi malaking points at big contributor tlga si WFD. Yung binigay sken ng computer noon 17 items sa listening with 23 minutes. Tpos yung recording nila per item prang umaabot ng 1-1.5 minutes kaya kinapos ako ng oras, time management + right focus tlga kelangan.

@amifat, superior din po ba target mo? Eto yung sinasabi ko na kpag nmiss mo yung some item nung WFD, check mo yung 2:20 nung video na ito...

@amifat yup, I agree with @Supersaiyan. WFD, tapos sa mga nabasa ko, spelling din matters. Nung 2nd take ko 2points na lang sana ako for Listening para Superior at inisip ko din na magpa-remark kaso pointless daw. Kaya nagbook na lang ako ng bago. sa 4th take ko pa cya nakuha. Yung sa last take ko din, hindi ko natapos yung conclusion paragraph ko sa Write Essay. Naubosan ako ng time. Fortunately, nakaSuperior naman. Sa Listening at Writing din ako nahirapan. More so sa Listening. Practice lang talaga at need maglaan ng time. Kaya nyo yan mga brader!

In my experience, I bought the E2language (Bronze-USD139), PTEpractice (Gold Test Preparation Kit-USD59.99) and reviewed for 1 month. I allotted time of around 2 hrs per day (Mon-Fri) and 4hrs per day (Sat and Sun). I took the 2 scored tests of the Gold Test Preparation Kit a few days before my actual PTE exam. And thanks God, I got superior on my first take. Nevertheless, I still suggest that you review for the PTE for 2 months since my 1 month review was really a rush review thinking that I need to get superior asap for the my assessment.

Firs time po magtatake. Bakit po karamihan parang nauubusan ng time sa WFD? Bukod ba sa time per task, may time pa yung listening? Tsaka tanong ko lang po sa WFD, after po ba magsalita nung sa comp., ilang sec ang bibigay sayo para makapag type at magedit? Ty po sa sasagot.

Hi @oIp kasi karamihan na stuck sa reading tasks kaya na compromise ung listening tasks nila.. kaya better maging familiar sa every question ano un priority at hindi.. yes may time alotted din ang listening task (45-57mins) so better mag time management ka para hindi k maubusan ng oras. take note hindi mo pede i skip ung mga recording sa listening kailangan mo talaga tapusin un bago makasagot.
ung ilang sec ang bibigay sayo para makapag type at edit depende sa oras n natitira pa.. kaya use your time wisely.. Goodluck

Share ko lang my 2 cents sa WFD, ang technique ko is typing on-the-fly while listening. most of us should be able to type around half nung dinidictate with (lots of) practice (unless super bilis ka magtype or nagttranscribe ka for a living

) and from that half, if di mo man totally marecall yung exact words, you should be able to recall yung idea and finish the sentence accordingly. used this technique and got 90. goodluck!

@olp, actually for listening, separate timer yung Summarize Spoken Text, 10 minutes for each SST item, then afterwards single timer na lahat. Regarding sa question mo kung bket nauubusan ng oras sa WFD ksi yung WFD ay ksama sa single timer, which means kapag natagalan ka sumagot sa ibang items, there is a tendency na di ka umabot sa WFD or di mo tlga matapos WFD ksi yun yung pinaka last item na sasagutan.

Note:
Nowadays, mas pinahaba nila yung recordings sa listening, ranging 1-1.5 minutes, then kahit nakapili ka na ng sagot di ka pa rin pde mag next hanggat di tapos recording, kaya dapat i compute mo yung timer vs. number of items na sasagutan. Yung dati sken natandaan ko 17 items with 23 minutes, kung tig 1 minute ang kada recording matic na 17 minutes icoconsume mo sa 17 items kaya dapat i manage mo yung time kung san ka dapat maglaan ng 2 minutes at 1 minute. HTH.
