@daddybods2000 maganda ng score na yan Paps, mga ganang score usually sa 2nd take, Superior na.
siguru dahil nasabi mo, you can improve more ur RS, then manage ur time sa RL.

Yep, bumili ako ng gold kit pero nasayang lang kasi mukang may issue yung laptop or headset ko, parehas na 10 lang score ng pronounciation ko in mock a & b. Hindi ata naintindihan ng computer yung recording kaya impacted lahat. Halos same lang kasi score ng both mock except nag improve lng sa writing sa mock b.

@daddybods2000 Have you tried writing down the first letter of each word for RS? Some don't recommend this technique but it worked for me after lots of practice. It's just that my memory is not that good so I aided it with that technqiue. For the meantime, you may want to try it? Later I'll share more details.

@daddybods2000 possible onti lang sinasabi nyo sa DI, Retell kaya di na superior si Speaking. Ako kahit nagkakalat sa RS, sumasampa pa rin sa superior yung Speaking ko kpg dinadamihan ko ng onti yung length ng speaking ko.

Yes na try ko minsan to sa practice, sometimes effective sometimes hindi pero try ko tong technique na improve to baka sakali.

Pag hinahabaan ko kasi response ko sa RL di na ako umaabot sa conclusion or napuputol yung pagsasalita ko dahil more than 40 sec. nagsasalita pa din ako

Hmmm ganun ba. Nag sample recording ako prior exam with or without power parang same naman tas inayos ko pa mic position. Baka kailangan Plantronics din headset ko

yup, hindi mo madidinig yung static sa sample recording unless isasagad mo yung volume at naka headset ka to review yung sound.

may mga naka-encounter na din dito nyan at proven yan na wag isaksak yung laptop sa power outlet kapag speaking.

maganda na talaga ang scores mo, basahin mo yung scoring guide ng PTE para makita mo yung mga items na may kahati sa scoring.

Malaki ba impact pag na miss yung isang item ng retell lecture? Nagka issue kasi yung PC during my exam di ko marinig audio during RL. Halos 1 hour na delay yung exam ko tapos nilipat ako sa ibang PC. Bad trip din sira momentum.

tinuloy ko kung san nag stop. Nung walang audio yung item 12, ayaw pa maniwala ng bantay kaya pina proceed ako sa #13, ganun pa din wala audio. Ilang beses ni retry, in the end lipat PC ang bagsak.

@daddybods2000, I see, sa DI ka dapat mag add kahit 1 sentence lang kung di mo pa sagad hnggang 30-35 secs.

Possible siguro may impact yung issue na nangyari sayo sa scores mo sa speaking nung di mo marinig audio, unless inulit mo buong exam.

@daddybods2000 yup, once na may problem ka na naencounter lalo na kung malfunctioning ng computer or computer peripherals, report mo agad dapat.

kakaexam mo lang naman, try mong i-contact. ivovoid nila yung current exam mo (meaning hindi mo na magagamit ang results) pero bibigyan ka ng replacement exam for FREE.

Mga 3-5 business days pa daw hehe. Nawawala ba talaga yung score report after mo ma view? Di ko na sya makita, nakalagay "You do not currently have any score reports available online"

hindi dapat mawala. possible na nag-open na sila ng case kay Pearson. mas ok ng i-void nila yang exam mo then give you a replacement exam.

Hello @Supersaiyan , @rj_deguzman , @daddybods2000 (and those who need suggestions/tips), as promised:

Speaking

• Read Aloud –I used the preparation time to read the passage softly. The computer will not record your voice anyway. This is for me to know where to pause and how I would project my voice. Just be cautious of the timer. Stop before the “Recording” starts. I also clicked “Next” right after finishing to avoid recording other people’s voices.

• Repeat Sentence –Since my memory is not that good, I aided it with the “write-the-first-letter-of-the-word” technique. It might not work for everyone. It didn’t too for me the first time I tried, but after lots of practice, I got used to it. If sentences are long, I usually remember in mind the first half and then use this technique for the other half.

• Describe Image –Templates were very useful to me. Mine was a mix of Sonny English’s and e2language’s template.
“This bar graph represents the _______.
From an overall perspective we can see that ______ accounted for the highest percentage share
Whereas ______ accounted for the second highest.
In contrast _______ had the lowest number of percentage share.
One thing that clearly stands out is that _______ will continue to increase in the future.”

For other types of images, I followed e2language’s template. It took me 1 month to prepare and I really focused on Speaking because that’s my lowest IELTS mark. Memorise by heart your templates. Everyday, I made sure to do Speaking tasks.

• Retell Lecture –E2language template and whenever I still have time left, I simply add “Overall, the lecture was very interesting and informative and can be used by students and educators.” This is from one of the members here in pinoyau. Whoever you are, thanks heaps! For the note taking, I usually write long phrases in a way that I would not have hard time to formulate my sentences while speaking. The key is to be spontaneous.

• Answer Short Question –listen carefully. Always remember not to be complacent in any part of the exam. If you don’t know the answer, guess.

Writing

• Write Essay –e2language format. Use transition words. These sites might be of help.

Providentially, my essay topic was just the same as when I first took the exam.

• Summarise Written Text –Read the passage first. Get the main idea. Add important supporting details. Since I fell short in Reading the first time I took PTE, I made sure to be careful in this part since it also affects the Reading component.

Listening

• Summarise Spoken Text –This is just the same as Retell Lecture but the difference is that your response here is typewritten. I used e2language template for Retell lecture. Maybe note-taking is really my forte. I write as many info as I can. Write in phrases. The more info you write, the better. Then, type everything using the format:
“The speaker was mainly talking about ______. He stressed that___. Also, he mentioned_____. Etc etc.

There were times that I’ve written so much. The key is, write first then trim down afterwards to meet the maximum number of words. You may just use “The speaker discussed…” in order to save words. What’s important is that you include as many info you could get from the spoken text. You may use exact words from the audio. I mean no need to use synonyms but don’t write verbatim.

• Multiple Choice, Multiple Answers –before the audio starts, read right away the question and choices so that you can focus listening after. While listening, select from the choices right away upon hearing the answers. By doing this, you can save time for Writing from Dictation.

• Fill in the blanks –Don’t forget to click the boxes else you won’t be able to type. Check right away the closeness of each blanks. What I did was to type directly as fast as I could. I didn’t mind the spelling first. I corrected them afterwards. Be careful of “s” and “ed” for plural nouns and verbs in the past.

• Highlight correct summary –Skim the choices right away. If you can listen to the audio and at the same time look at the choices to see which one you can eliminate, do so. That’s what I did to save time. But if no, it’s better to focus more on the audio. Just try to understand what it’s all about first and then choose from the options. Based on experience, the passages are not that hard to understand/summarise compared to the Reading Multiple Choice Choose Single Answer.

• Multiple Choice Single Answer –read the question and the choices right away before the audio starts. Usually the options are short anyway. Then choose the answer while listening.

• Select Missing Word –Again read the options before the audio starts. Then focus on the audio. Understand the whole context. It will help you choose the right answer.

• Highlight Incorrect Words –My technique here is to read it softly (not that loud so you can still hear the audio) at the same time as the audio. It’s easier for me to detect which is incorrect. Remember to move the cursor at the same time.

• Write from Dictation –From what I’ve read from e2langugae, this part weighs more than the others, so make sure not to miss any WFD item. Manage your time properly in the previous sections so you would have enough time for WFD. My technique is the same as Repeat Sentence. I use the “write-the-first-letter-of-the-word” technique. Based on experience, sentences are shorter than Repeat Sentence.

Reading

Managing my time was the biggest challenge for me. The first time I took the exam, I was too swift that I had 5 minutes extra. So the following exam, I read the passages carefully but ran out of time to read the last Multiple Choice Single Answer question, so I simply guessed. Thank God, I was still able to reach my target. It was really a miracle. Like what I’ve said, I also focused on Summarise Written Text since it also contributes to Reading score. Check how PTE is scored to see which sections you need to focus on. Remember, some questions contribute to more than one communicative skill. Going back to managing your time, check the order of questions at the beginning of the Reading exam so that you know when to spend time more. Jay of e2 language recommends to spend 2-3 minutes on each item.

• Multiple Choice Single Answer –Read the question first then the passage as fast as you can.
• Multiple Choice Multiple Answer –Options are tricky. Be careful. Sometimes they will use words from the passage but the context is not inferred from the text. I’ve seen this many times. If you are sure of one option but not of the others, don’t attempt to chose another one as it will just offset your sure answer. But I only did this once. Still try to get full marks if you can.
• Re-order paragraphs –learn from e2language. It really helped me. Look for the main topic sentence by elimination method. Eliminate those sentences with pronouns such as him, this, etc. Even those with adverbs at the beginning. Look for connections to see which one comes next. You’ll learn all of these from e2language blog. For practices, I used ptestudy.com. Practice at least 10 items everyday. Check the answers and see the “connections” between each sentence. That way, you will learn how to see the connections in the future. There was one item from ptestudy.com or ptetutorials.com that appeared in my exam.
• Fill in the blanks –they say it’s more of collocations. Fortunately, I’m used to collocations (not that proficient though) because I have been reading a lot ever since. So the key here is to practice reading books, news etc.
