Can MBA/international business can lead to PR?

fasttimesfasttimes QueenslandPosts: 10Member
Hello, I'm currently taking a post qualifying path for a sem before I can proceed to my approved program which is MBA/MIB and I was wondering if it can lead to PR by following the point system or if not, what could be the best step to do? thank you.

There's no difference in points you can claim on qualifications.( Bachelor's Degree/Master degree is equivalent to 15 points). Skilled migration is a points based system, currently at minimum of 65 points (age, qualification, work experience, english ability, etc.)

@fasttimes You have to nominate an occupation in the MLTSSL or STSOL list in order to submit an EOI. If you take that course what occupation will be you be able to apply under?

@fasttimes how long is your program? what is your nominated occupation?
if it is under two years and not related to your nominated occupation, it won't help in increasing your points for skilled visa application.

@agentKams are you also taking MBA? I got confused because there are others who I asked who are already here taking the program said that it is not valid for a PR. I guess, it's still a matter on what nominated occupation I will be applying or dapat bang yung current work mo nominated skill na before applying for PR? thanks

@fasttimes hi, i took MBAD at first but shifted to a dual program. combined MBAD and MPAC, because my nominated occupation is Accountant. if you are going to use the MBA degree to claim for points then yes it would really matter kung anong nominated skill mo. if you nominated an IT occupation and MBA kinuha mo, you might not be able to claim points for work experience gained after graduation on that qualification since magkaiba ang field na iyan.

most taking the MBA program is for upskilling lang tlga. did you have an agent who suggested your course pathway? or wala ka naman tlga balak magPR pa when you applied for the student visa?

@fasttimes TBH, you obviously don't know what your end game is. check what occupation you are going to nominate first then calculate your points ASAP para makadecide ka what to do on your program.

@fasttimes Do you have work experience after college? If yes, check if your work experience is aligned with one of the occupations in this list. That can be your nominated occupation https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/trav/work/work/skills-assessment-and-assessing-authorities/skilled-occupations-lists/combined-stsol-mltssl

As what @agentKams mentioned, if you want to claim points for your MBA it should be related to your nominated occupation.

You can compute for your estimated EOI points for PR here

@fasttimes just be careful kasi some migration agents (not all) are just after na mapalioad yung clients nila. hanapan k ng easy way ora mka migrate. but in the long run, ikw ang mghahanap ng pathway mo for PR. some agents get commision for enrolling overseas students to the school n partner nila kaya di cla masyado ngbibigay ng options. research lng on what skill ang appropriate sa educ and work exp mo. also bear in mind yung points for PR. at least target 70 especially if yung skill mo nsa 189 lng and not 190.

@maguero salamat sa reply. i worked as a call center agent for couple of years before studying here and I checked on the link and the closest i skill i can connect is with the technical sales rep subclass 190, does that mean im not capable of applying for subclass 189? and if i will be nominating a skill for EOI or for PR dapat ba my job here in australia is already inclined with my nominated skill?

@agentKams mahal talaga mba, but i think its also the only way for my partner to work fulltime or more in a way nakakatulong din in our situation. in my assessment, i can have 65 points already after graduating and can increase if i can get superior ielts exam hopefully.

thank you for your inputs guys! :)

@kymme i think that is my situation, they only cared i can get here to study cos the agency can get 10% per 2 sems as a comission. that's why i really dont have any idea about the PR process. good thing i found this forum.

@fasttimes You can check these links to gauge if mataas chances mo of getting a positive assessment for Technical Sales Rep. Ito yung requirements ni Vetassess for a positive assessment.

As far as I know meron 3 kinds of General Skilled Migration visas - 189, 190 and 489.

Yung 189 is PR pero kailangan nasa MLTSSL yung occupation mo.

Yung 190 is also PR pero state nominated. This means that aside from submitting an EOI in Skillselect you also have to check which states are sponsoring your occupation and you have to submit a nomination application with the state.

Yung 489 is a state nominated provisional visa. Like 190 you also have to apply for state nomination and you have to live in the sponsoring state for 2 years and work in that state for 1 year before you can convert your visa to a PR visa.

Meron na akong state nomination for a 489 visa, hindi pa lang ako nakakapaglodge. Syempre mas maganda sana ang PR visa agad. Kaso like you, nasa STSOL lang yung occupation ko and dadalawa lang ang states na nagssponsor nito and pareho sila na 489 lang ang inooffer. So kahit kailangan ko magcomply sa 2 years residency and 1 year work requirement bago maging PR e kukunin ko na ito kasi at least sigurado na ang path to a PR visa.

You just have to assess kung ano ang best way para maging PR ka based on your nominated occupation. Sa tingin ko ang importante sa ngayon ay madetermine mo kung ano ang nominated occupation mo para makastrategize ka na kung paano ka magiging PR.

@yennerz13 If you will nominate HR as your occupation for PR you can also check the link I shared above for Vetassess' requirements for a positive assessment. Note na ang Vetassess requires work experience after obtaining your degree to get a positive assessment. Kung iba naman ang balak mong nominated occupation I suggest check mo rin as early as now yung requirements ng assessing agency para masigurado mo na mamemeet mo yung requirements pag ready ka na magpa-assess. Good luck!

Just wanna share some insights: you can claim points for au study, pero if you are not able to nominate an occupation in mltssl or stsol, then baka sayang lang ang oras at panahon. Make sure na you have a plan after ng studies since agencies usually offer pathways on study but not on PR.
