Nice thread, interested din ako malaman about yaya matters sa OZ. Sana may makapag-share.

Though according to my friend na may toddler sobrang mahal daw talaga maghire ng maid sa OZ... usually mga mayayaman lang daw talaga nakaka-afford?

may nabasa ako dati parang ganito sa ibang forum. ina-apply nila ng visa ung yaya, sabi daw ng tiga-embassy walang ganung visa sa AU and "australia is a do-it-urself country".

ung mga kakilala ko dyan AU is either nag-housewife to take care of the kids, may kamag-anak na pinag-iiwanan, baby sitter or daycare. pero wala sa kanila ang may yaya.

walang yaya sa australia.. hahahah.. good luck!

if you get a yaya by law you have to pay them the minimum wage of 18 aud per hour.

eh diba usual salary ng mga tao is only 18 aud per hour? ..hahahahaha!

my sister's brother in law is a bank executive in a big bank..in a really big position ala movies na wall street na level nyan even if you combine your salary in IT, as a teacher or whatever.. it won't be 1/4 of his salary pa din.

they have no yaya. no helper. no driver!

his wife works pa nga part time and the kids go to daycare when wife is not home.

what they have is a cleaning service that come twice a week lang to clean their house/ pool etc. but he still cleans his own car and mow his own lawn..hahahahaha!

so if you get a yaya and pay her below minimum wage..that's under the table unless you go by the law and pay them the minimum wage.
but getting a visa for yaya is another matter..:P i think the quickest way is still a tourist visa but they have to go in and out of the country din and still show evidence of funds.
also if you pay yaya below minimum wage..they will think na parang slavery po yan. you might even get into trouble if yaya becomes disgruntled and meet a old australian man the mag sumbong sila! hahaha!

even an au pair.. yung mga students/ backpackers/ tourists that would exchange accommodation to live in your house to care for your kids part time are still paid the mimimum wage.

same for babysitters..go to gumtree, the cheapest babysitter is 15 aud per hour if you find one! most are asking nga 20 aud per hour almost sweldo na ng nurse assistant:D

im paying daycare for my 4 years old.. 90 aud per day inclusive of food. what can i do i have no choice.. minimum is 3 days even though i have asked kahit 2 days lang pero di pumayag ang center. this january pa sya start kasi we took her home muna while naka waiting list sya which took us mga 4 months to get into this daycare.

Natawa naman ako sa response mo @li_i_ren. Actually gusto ko sana sagutin ito kaya lang baka ma-offend ko si @Aiwink. But with your response, baka na-offend na nga si @Aiwink at sana wag naman.

In fairness sa response mo @li_i_ren, it was very informative. Problema kasi nating pinoy, sanay tayo ng may yaya. Pero yun nga dito sa Aus hindi uso yun. It's either mga kamag-anak mo na mag-aapply as tourist. Ganun lang ang ginagawa ng friend ko dito, salitan ang mother at father nya to come here para alagaan yung baby nila. Kasi nga medyo mahal ang child care.

@li_i_ren @johnandjosh sorry if medyo ignorant ang tanong kse pag galing ka sa singapore and may contract ka na maid, you can bring your maid until the contract expires. My friend did that kse so baka lang puede. hehe wala kse kaming kilala sa australia eh. I would love to be a housewife but got my parents to support... and medyo hindi pa kme sanay na iwan si baby. heheh :)

I'll check with my friend and inform you guys who will be coming from singapore. I think there is some kind of agreement etc. bet. the governments.

I have to confirm. pero confirm na pede mong dalhin. hindi ko lang alam kung paano.

@nylram_1981 alam ko UK oo pero sa australia sila eh. hehhe pero ang alam ko nga may conditions sya na dapat below 5years old ang kid tapos may existing contract yung maid sa inyo from singapore. iclaclarify ko pag nakausap ko kse magmigrate na sila early next year eh. :) at next ako. yahoooo!

if ever tama si @TotoyOZresident (dapat totoyozcitizen na name nya) tourist visa na nga lang ang parents. :) much better.

mukhang wala ngang yaya sa AU... kahit sa US, mostly meron sila part-timer for cleaning the house and other chores.. ung mga kakilala ko.. either hindi nag work ang wife.. or kung nag work together.. ihahatid sa day care ang mga bata sa umaga.. tapos susunduin pagkagaling sa office..

very challenging talaga.. lalo na sa mga baby/toddlers.. pero kung school age na 7yrs old and up.. wala masyado problem kasi may school talaga sila..

Agree! helpful nga eh at least nabigyan tayo ng inputs about yaya matters.

@Aiwink pareho tayo, sanay na may yaya dito sa Sg kaya malamang malaking adjustment satin hehe. Since I lodged my EOI medyo nagpractice na kami ni mister na as much as possible kami na gumawa ng house chores at magtingin ng kids pag nasa bahay kame (sarap buhay ni yaya haha!) para lang at least masanay na kami ni hubby sa division of labor. Although malamang iba pa din kapag nasa Oz na. ;)

@sydneyblued Actually I dont have Yaya nga eh. hahha Ironic that I asked this question. My parents are here to take care of the kids on weekdays. tapos day off nila ng weekends. hahhaha. sabak naman kme sa household chores and alaga pag weekends. alangan naman pagplanstahin ko pa nanay ko. hahahha. anyways, baka ganun din gawin namin sa OZ. see if I can have my parents as tourist. :) heheh sana makalusot.

Ooh @Aiwink i was under the impression kasi you seem so familiar sa requirements on hiring FDW here in SG hehe... yan din isang alternative namin, invite muna mag-tourist ang Parents ko to help us to adjust in case pareho kami ni hubby makakuha na ng work.

I guess kung kelangan talaga ng katulong sa bahay it's either hire an au pair or petition a family member to join you in Australia. And I would choose the latter kasi tiwala ka na sa tao at kapamilya mo pa so hindi mo ramdam na wala ka sa Pinas hehe

Only consulates and high ranking government officials are allowed to have nanny and they pay them like regular employees w medicare, annual leaves, sick leave and so. Yaya visa for a commoner, no chance. Best to invite your own relatives, parents or siblings for holidays that's the only chance.
