Migrating with pet dog

chollecholle SydneyPosts: 403Member
We're planning to migrate with our dog (from Singapore) when we get approved. Anyone here with experiences to share? Based on research, it's a lot of prep work and paper work, and we're ready to face the challenge :D

Main questions are: What are the actual conditions of the dogs in quarantine (specifically in Sydney)? Visits allowed?

(Naisip ko lang, grabe mas matrabaho pa to bring in your dog kesa sa kids :P )

    Hi @cholle

May mga nalaman ka na ba about this? If, by God's grace, my husband and I are granted visas, plan din namin isama yung aming pet cat (my baby)...hehe...

@cholle, based sa research ko, kasi plan din naming dalin yung pusa naming eh you need to have your pet to have the rabbies blood test before you plan for any travel. the rabbies blood test should be at least 6 months old bago nyo pa lang maibyahe ang pet nyo. so that's the first step. and the result is valid for 1 year. so kung plano nyo ibyahe agad agad with you, eto muna gawin nyo. medyo costly kasi ditto sa Dubai, pinapadala pa yung blood extract sa UK for testing and it takes less than 1 month to get the result. so from the date of extraction of the blood dun ka pa lang magsisimula magbilang ng 6 months. sa dogs yata may iba pang mga tests na required di ako sure. then dapat up to date ang rabbies vaccine.

pag ok na yung mga papers nya for blood test, may iba pang clearances from the country kung san kayo manggaling bago nyo pa mabook sa airlines yung aso nyo. and di sya pwede ideclare as excess baggage lang meaning, may bayad ang fare nila.

nagpaquote ako sa mga pet movers ditto so I have came to know some of the requirements. hope this helps.

@jvframos Thanks for the info!

pagdating sa oz, sabi nung kausap ko, ok naman daw sa quarantine area kahit di na bisitahin kasi may nag aalaga naman dun. you can pay also for extra para iwalk at alagaan yung pet mo. pero sabi naman pwede naman daw dalawin kaya nothing to worry. then you can also arrange for pet movers from oz to arrange yung pag move ng pet mo from Sydney to your place in oz.

@jvframos sir, if you dont mind, around how much inabot yung air fare ng cat nyo? nag chcheck na nga rin ako sa pet movers dito sa Malaysia, baka matulungan din nila ako sa requirements kasi mukhang medyo na-late ako ng pag babasa ng requirements at wala pang rabies vaccine at microchip ung baby ko... :(

    Date Calculator:
    http://www.daff.gov.au/biosecurity/cat-dogs

BTW, paano po balak nyo kung and ied nyo is Jul 2014 pero Sept pa pwede mag travel ung cat nyo? naarrange nyo na po ba lahat ng permits ng pet nyo?

@nikah13, hello po. girl po ako :-)

yung quote sa akin ng mover ditto sa Dubai is around 9000 dirhams equivalent to 108,000 pesos. ang mahal nga grabe.

hindi pa namin sya kasama this july kasi yung hubby ko lang naman maiiwan sa oz. babalik pa ako ulet ng Dubai to wait for the maturity of my cat's rabbies blood test. saka wait pa din namain muna magka work si hubby dun bago ulet kami sumunod so may time pa talaga.

better na kung may plan ka isama cat mo, ipablood test mo na sya asap at least 6 months before your travel date

Just checked, hindi pala kelangan ng rabies test if the dog/cat is coming from Singapore (being a category 2 country, pwedeng direct import na raw). Apply lang ng permit to import plus a number of visits to the vet mga 2 months before departure, mostly for several rounds of health checks, deworming, tick treatment, etc.

@elord You can't import dogs directly to Australia from the Philippines. Kelangan muna from Pinas to Sg and the dog has to stay there for 180 days before maging eligible to be exported to Sg. There are vet tests na kelangan and there's a timeframe for when those tests should be done as well. Remember may 30 day quarantine ang dogs coming into Sg, tapos 10 days to Australia. Di ko sigurado kung applicable rin ito sa Malaysia (most likely oo). In short, mahaba at magastos ang proseso, not to mention kawawa yung aso sa quarantine pag sobrang tagal. Read the AQIS website, and if magulo, I suggest get an agent to do it dahil mahirap nang magkamali. All in all, we spent about $5k in getting our dog from Sg to Au - para kang nagbayad ng visa at pamasahe ng isa pang tao.

@tarajen hi, sorry ngayon lang uli ako nag-login! Sa Eastern Creek yung quarantine nung time namin. Okay naman sya nung sinundo namin, healthy pa rin. Di namin sya binisita during quarantine kase anlayo haha tsaka around Christmas namin sya dinala rito so medyo busy. We used a pet "migration agent" to assist kase crucial yung mga tests, may window periods lang yan. Sila yung nag-apply ng permits namin (export and import) tsaka taga remind kelan dadalhin dapat sa vet. I can give you the name nung ginamit namin na agent if you want.
