Hi! Anyone who'd like to share their experiences when you had your skills assessed by ACS?
HOW TRUE IS THE DEDUCTION OF YEARS IN THE ACTUAL NUMBER OF WORKING EXPERIENCE YOU HAD?
I currently have 10 years of experience as a Software Engineer. However, I am not sure if they'd credit everything. My role in the different companies I've been too are all the same.
Thank you.

Assessing bodies would require a minimum number of years experience before they consider someone as deemed skilled in their nominated occupation thus the deduction in number of years experience. Actually years before, only ACS is doing this but then other assessing bodies adopted this method. If you only have 10 years work experience as a Software Engineer and say ACS will require 3 years work experience before considering you as skilled, you can only claim points for 7 years work experience. I assumed the deduction varies depending on your educational attainment( course), grades and what school you graduated. If your undergraduate degree is not relevant to your nominated occupation, this would mean more years to deduct on your work experience.

Not all assessing authorities implement this so safe not to refer to all. @sanjuam best to refer to the ACS guideline as this will explain your question re work experience.
