From what I've observed mas pabor talaga ang medical professions sa invites nowadays. For 189/491 family, engrs and IT professionals na pro-rata are basically ignored na. So this is a blessing in disguise sa medical professions.

Australia was following a migration program roadmap, sending in ~200k migrants each year to boost the economy. During the time I was processing my visa not far ago, I was looking into the annual visa allotment breakdown from DHA for years 2017 2018 2019. Pinopost nila yung current backlogs and que for EOI lodgements across each specific job codes for different visa sub classes. I had an agent pero I also did my own research to know my current position in the field. Since that was pre pandemic, the monthly invites which was around 2000 -3000 for 189 were distributed through a lot of job specializations. For some specialized field na kakaunti ang applicant 60/65 was enough to get them an invite.

Nowadays, we can't expect anything certain from the migration department. Don't lose hope, still aim for the highest points possible, be updated on the news. All the hard work is worth it once you get here. Good luck.

yeah panapanahon. I bet now medical staffs are in demand kahit san bansa kasi need ng mga frontliners. Here sa SG, kapos na rin. Most probably mga Nurses here will be favorable and easy to get a PRship sa SG ngayon and i think will be same all over the world.

I guess its just best to be document ready and lodge your EOI’s para nkapila na. Then let’s just hope and pray for the best that we all get granted our visas.

hi @mariusinbrisbane you can check this link:
    https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/working-in-australia/skillselect/invitation-rounds

    1. pre pandemic, every month sila nagiinvite for 189. pero ngayon every quarter na. Sa 190 naman, depende sa state e.
    2. during pandemic, puro onshore lang usually na naiinvite at mostly yung occup nasa PMSOL. base sa mga nakikita ko previously, more on medical occup yung kadalasan na naiinvite.
    3. For non pro-rata, as far as I know, basta nasa PMSOL ka, mas may chance ka mainvite especially kung nasa medical occup ka. Others can correct me on this.
    4. During pandemic, mas dumami invites ng 491 so you might want to consider that as well.

    Just for clarification

    1. Pre- pandemic it was nearly impossible to be granted a 189 visa unless you have very very high points. Migration agents would likely divert clients for 491 visa as that’s the most feasible pathway for offshore applicants
    2. The PMSOL is more often than not for 482 visa applications. Offshore applications are not prioritised, hence no invites are issued
    3. Right now points aren’t really relevant for offshore as you can’t base your strategy on this - no one gets invited! Though South Australia has opened its nominations for offshore for some occupations but subject to meeting requirements - that’s definitely a positive development
    4. As mentioned no invites for offshore - that’s the trend. More 491 applications pre-pandemic days - that’s always been the case in the last 3-4 years already. 190 was more for onshore applications. At present, the aim is to maximise points and Lodge the EOI ASAP as that’s likely to increase your chances of inviting soo er when things go back to normality

1 is so true. Pre pandemic, only people with 90 points and above are being invited. I did a lot of research, read forums and followed the invitation rounds. This is the reason why I delayed taking PTE and be able to submit my EOI. I was at 50 pts and taking PTE could increase my points to 70 in which will allow me to submit my EOI. I lose hope and forgot about my dream. I waited for a year because of this so called "trend". A very big mistake. Pandemic happens last March 2020. By September 2020, almost 300 Medical Lab Scientist were invited for 189 visa with 65 minimum points. I was shocked I couldn't believe it. If you were reading the forums during this time, you would also believe there's no way people below 90 points will be invited. This drove me to sit for PTE on October 2020. I passed it and lodged my EOI immediately at 70 pts. November 2020, my points increased by 5 pts due to additional experience. October 29, 2021 I got invited for 491 FS (offshore) at 75+15 pts.

I settled for less and lose so much time due to this "trend". It would be a different case if I'd hired an agent. She/He would have pushed me to sit for English exam ASAP. I believe I knew so much from my readings and research that I don't need one. A costly mistake.
Here's my advice to you. Do not base your applications on "trends" as DHA is unpredictable. Now they are inviting 90, next round they could be inviting 65.
Lodge your EOI ASAP and wait. I'm sharing this so you could learn from my experience.

That’s correct. Our approach is always very individual. It’s not so much about the trend, it’s all about what would work for the actual applicant. Each case is very individual. Hence it would be somehow foolish to solely rely on “trend”

Thank you po for this insight! This gives me a bit of hope kasi 70/75 lang ako ngayon, next year pa ako magkaka-additional 10 points, pero at least, naka queue na yung EOI ko.

Hi guys, I have a question regarding claiming points for work experience in EOI. Does it have to be assessed by an Assessment Authority(like Vetassess) for you to claim the points for your past work experience. I already have a POSITIVE Skills Assessment under Vetassess, but I was not able to include all my work experiences in the assessment before due to documentation purposes issues(mahirap kasi hagilapin ang mga companies last year kasi at the peak of the pandemic. I have my skills assessment last year, around November). My concern now is to get more points, since currently, I only have 65 points (Subclass 190). If I claim for my other previous employment (w/c was not assessed by Vetassess, but are closely related occupation), I can get additional 10 points. So, going back to my question, can I claim those points in EOI even if my work experience was not assessed by Vetassess(again, these are closely related occupation). Hoping I can get some clarity and some advice here. Thanks and goodluck to us!

From what I've observed mas pabor talaga ang medical professions sa invites nowadays. For 189/491 family, engrs and IT professionals na pro-rata are basically ignored na. So this is a blessing in disguise sa medical professions.

If naka N/A sa invite table, low chances of invite or wala lang points min points? Thanks.

Ngayon who knows lol. Immigration is unpredictable now.

I just watched this new interview with the CEO of Australian Chamber of Commerce released today by Sky News :

He said "We need to get back above the levels that we had IMMEDIATELY prior to the pandemic"; this is referring to the migration quota/level.

Hopefully magtuluy-tuloy itong plan nila to take in 200k migrants vs. 160k this fiscal year. Though nagulat lang ako dun sa "immediately", I'm not sure if they would adjust/alter the current fiscal year in terms of invites and grants since 7 months pa before the start of another fiscal year for migration.

We can all just hope na mngyari ito. Another thing we have to consider dn is madami dn pending onshore applications. Most likely prioritization will fall on which occupation is essential.

Since November 2021 upon submitting an EOI, gigil din ako sa paghahanap ng update or development with respect to offshore skilled migrants. Haha. Wala na tayong magawa. Pero getting anxious about the future or the result doesn't help at all. Nakakadagdag lang sa burden. Ipon nalang muna ng pocket money within that 7-month timeframe, tsaka na ako ma-stress pag malapit na mag expire yung EOI ko. Hehe

(More on advise ito sa sarili ko. Since may agent ako pero di rin ako mapakali kakahintay at kaka-research.)

Tama po! Ako kasi DIY so talagang search ako ng news articles every single day. Hopefully Q1 2022 will have something for us.

May chance kaya mag increase sila ng intake aka more invites and grants DURING this financial year? Open na kasi ang borders. Kung aantayin pa nila yung next financial year, 7 months pa yun, ang layo pa

They plan these things on a yearly basis so chances of any change on intake this current financial year. Changes would have to be in the next financial year

Successful candidates of CCL can claim 05 points in certain immigration pathways.

    Kind regards,

    Anas Ahmed

they used to have invites twice a month back then until 2018, then naging once a month til 2020, then quarterly na til now. A lot of my friends here in Aus already have 90 pts pero di na sila umaasa sa 189 honestly, masyado nang unpredictable ngayon. I saw nga rin yang invites na yan and wala nang pro-rata/non-pro rata division, specific occupations nalang ngayon ang iniinvite. Unfair sa unfair pero nothing we can do.
