I thought I am prepared for this, pero naooverwhelm pa ko sa mga kailangang gawin befor the big move. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Please share any tips on the things you did in PH prior your big move
Ang mga inaasikaso ko na ay:

    • Selling properties ( I just posted my condo for sale)
    • Filing resignation and turnover of job

How much ang recommended pocket money for a single person?

Hi @mau_villa, exciting big move naaa!!! congrats!
Ang biggest expense namin dito when we moved is for the appliances and furnitures. I think at least 5k for that then yung 1 mo advance for rental and 2 months bond ata yun.
If you plan to have Lasik do it in the Philippines. Uber mahal dito nun, makakauwi pa ako for that. I think 7K aud.
If you have properties or bank transactions you need to deal with later on you might want to prepare a power attorney so someone can sign it on your behalf. Hassle at magastos magpagawa ng power of attorney sa consulate then i-fedex mo pa to Ph.
If you have kids, vaccines are free here so don't bother keeping it up todate before kayo umalis. :)

BM na kami this January. Thanks!

    1. Open a BDO with a FOREX Branch, months before pagalis. (8 months) before para merong bank relationship.
      https://www.bdo.com.ph/sites/default/files/pdf/List of Authorized Branches.pdf

    2. Transfer all of your funds 4 months before.

    3. Exchange your money during mababa ang selling rate.

    Question

    • Can we put hard drives in the luggage? Just so I can lessen the weight of my backpack.

Pero mas okay rin na dala mo just in case may connecting flight ka other than AU.

Better add jackets with hood kasi malamig pagdating mo dito. Merong winter snap. You need warmer sa upper part, leggings, ear muffs, mittens, double or triple jacket.beanie, balaclava. Mahirap maghanap sa atin kasi tropical country, you can try 2nd hand shops, labhan mo nalang mabuti hehe. Unless sa may bandang Darwin ka pupunta.

    Steps. Assuming Qantas.

    3. Check in your bags. Maximum allowed bags depends on you travel class. Laptop bags and carry-on bags were not subjected to weight. Qantas will issue your ticket and baggage ticket. Present your passport, DPD, and flight itinenary, vaccination certificate to Qantas.
    4. Fill up your departure card. Present your passport, visa, departure card, and receipt of travel tax at immigation officer.
    5. Proceed for the inspection. Inspection on your carry on and laptop bags. Each laptop will be separated for inspection.
    6. Another inspection again for your boarding gate for your carryon and laptop bags.
    7. Board to your airline.
    8. Fill up your incoming passenger card, 1 hour before. This will be easy if you have a list on the contents of your bags. Ready carefully. Declare food always. It is understood that you have read the border customs do's and dont's.
    9. Upon arrival at Sydney Terminal 1, present your incoming passenger card, passport to immigration.

    11. Present your incoming passenger card to border control.
    12. Proceed to another security to show your bag containing the item if it is allowed. If you are not sure, just tick YES.
    13. Close your bags. Welcome Sydney.
    14. If not, go to Qantas again for domestic to check in your bags.
14.Ride a free bus fare that will head you to Terminal 3.
15.Upon arrival to Terminal 3, another inspection to your carry on and laptop bags.
    16.Proceed to your boarding gate.
17.Upon arrival to your domestic destination. Just pick up your check in bags. You are good to go. Sometimes they do charge for the usage of trolley. ($2 AUD coin)

    Very helpful! Thank you @tigerlance.

    Question

    • Can we put hard drives in the luggage? Just so I can lessen the weight of my backpack.

    Interesting question.
Yung Carry On - Hindi siya winiweigh.

Some airlines strict sila sa carry-on. Alam
    ko, yung Air Asia.

    Trolley - Carry-On
    Laptop Bag - Shoulder.

Do we need polio vaccine to be able to to fly to Australia? Planning my BM some this June or early July. Thank you!

Pero mas okay rin na dala mo just in case may connecting flight ka other than AU.

That's my problem, we moved a lot when I was younger, so wala na akong record kung ano mang vaccine ang meron ako. Pero to be sure, magpavaccine na lang din ako.

Thank you ulit sa step by step reminders. I'll be moving sa Sydney, so kung may iba pang reminders, please let me know.

Before you fill-out, you must review kung ano ang dadalhin mo. Baka last minute na padala hehe bago ka umalis might change your answers in the bag hehe. All the best.

You can, but with HD having movable parts, I rarely put them in check-in luggages because they are fragile. I would rather put up with heavier handcarry than have broken hard drives in the luggage. It's the same concept as putting a camera or laptop in check-in luggage. I always put a "Fragile" tag on my check-in bags so they are more likely to be handled with care, but there's still no telling on how they are handled by airport crew once they're out of sight.

Question ko po, kailan dapat bumili, while offshore po ba or pagkadating na duon? Or pwede na bang bumili while offshore tapos effectivity nya pagka lapag sa AU?

Tsaka, ano po ung health insurance nyo, may mga nababasa ako about BUPA... and ano kaya dapat ang kunin, top tlaga or ung maging sapat lang sa visa type namin... Dalawa pa lang naman kami sa ngayon....

Anghirap naman, hahaha.... nalilito ako dami kailangan isipin...

    Question

    • Can we put hard drives in the luggage? Just so I can lessen the weight of my backpack.

    Makes sense. Thank you!

Effective yung fragile tape. I don't know sa iba, kaya bubuksan niyo yun sa harap nila then iswab nila gamit mo.

Question ko po, kailan dapat bumili, while offshore po ba or pagkadating na duon? Or pwede na bang bumili while offshore tapos effectivity nya pagka lapag sa AU?

Tsaka, ano po ung health insurance nyo, may mga nababasa ako about BUPA... and ano kaya dapat ang kunin, top tlaga or ung maging sapat lang sa visa type namin... Dalawa pa lang naman kami sa ngayon....

Anghirap naman, hahaha.... nalilito ako dami kailangan isipin...

i also have the same question. baka hanapin ito sa Au immi upon landing?
