Work overseas while waiting for PR Grant

Hello! May same experience na ba sa inyo na mag work outside sa current residence overseas while waiting ng PR grant?
Nasa PH kasi ako ngayon at yung current employer ko nagprocess at napaapprove na ang H1B ko 2 years ago at ngayon lang mag push through yung pag alis due to pandemic at ipapasched na ako for appointment with the embassy kaso recently nainvite ako at naglodge na rin ng 190 Visa.

Mag kakaroon ba to ng effect sa grant, possibility na madeny? since need ko iupdate yung Immi account kasi mag iiba ako ng address outside PH.
If ever magrant ako, balak ko hindi muna agad pumasok ng AU at imaximize yung date kung hanggang kelan ako pwede pumasok ng AU. Makakaapekto din ba to pag mag aapply ako for citizenship?

@abaper hindi yan. basta submit an update lang to DHA. la rin problema kung near to max entry date ka pumasok ng AU.

may effect sya sa citizenship sa part ng residency requirement. ang alam ko, need mo kasi nasa AU ka for a total of at least 4yrs inclusive of at least 1yr holding a PR visa to initially qualify for citizenship. but that's workable.

so, go get that greener pasture all you can while preparing for your move to Oz.

Kapag po ba nag grant na and after first entry. Kapag hindi pa mag for good sa Australia after first entry, need na rin po ba magbayad ng Tax nun sa Australia based sa income overseas? 😅

marami-rami na akong nababasa online once nag start na residency mo (i.e. the moment you entered Oz and stayed), any money you bring/transfer/receive to/in Oz earn worldwide will be taxable. the ATO can monitor your AU bank account, so alam nila yung pumapasok/lumalabas na pera.

meron rin exemptions though, like income na already taxed by a country that has a double tax agreement (DTA) with Oz. that agreement prevents you from paying taxes again in Oz. syempre, need mag provide ng proof for the exemptions when you file for tax returns at the end of the FY.

personal research ko lang naman ito hehe. my understanding may also be wrong.

generally naman daw basta galing sa personal savings account overseas, hindi na daw taxable. those may be income you've earned while you were not a tax resident of Oz

again. personal research ko lang naman ito hehe. my understanding may also be wrong.

This is a tax related matter rather than immigration which is off topic in this forum’s section. Activating your visa doesn’t mean you are already resident in Australia. There are a number of Aussie citizens living overseas who do not have to pay tax as they are non- residents of Australia.

You will need to check the Ato website for your concerns or consult with an accountant. Any information you get here will be hearsay.

I agree with @RheaMARN1171933. The concept of residency in terms of visa (PR) is different from residency for tax purposes. Have a look at the ATO website on whether you will qualify as a resident for tax purposes or not:

Hello! There is something I would like to confirm:

I'm planning to lodge my visa application (offshore) for 189 this December. Then I will go to Aus by January (I have Visa 476). Just in case I get invited for 189 AFTER going to Australia, is it alright to apply for my visa there?

I don't see any conflict with your situation.

Thank you @cucci I was just thinking I am not offshore during that time.
But maybe it would not cause any problem!
