If gusto niyo branded na goods, go to DFO Homebush (outlets ng mga branded or local Aussie brand) or Birkenhead Outlet Fivedock maganda bigayan. Wait for big sales like Black Friday sale and Boxing Day. Expect the queue is mahaba pero grabe sales. For gadgets or appliances, JB hifi, Harvey Norman, Good Guys, Mydeal, and Binglee and Kogan. Opt out to using AfterPay, Klarna or Latitude naman for Commbank pero hinay2 lang as gastos nakakaadik lol.. ๐Ÿ˜†

Based sa experience ang pinaka as in bagsak presyo ng new items sa lahat na sale ay sa Black Friday Sale,
Syempre as always, buy off season clothes for next season. As always black and white ang fashion statement nila dito.

Anyone interested in a big move guide? Specifically for PR, NSW at solo migrants flying from PH ito. Doing my research now and regularly checking this forum for insights/info, so naisip kong i-compile in a document since na-overwhelm ako sa dami nang need isipin, haha. Still a work in progress but sharing in case it helps anyone else: https://docs.google.com/document/d/18jQIdQkr1Rsq_qRxmexUqQwGdJ53Sax8iFKUfbi6fBE/view

Covers pre-departure to getting settled to managing your visa (as an anxious person na solo flight sa migration lol). Note, lahat ng info dito ay checked as of May 2023 and will continue to update it until it's my turn to make the move. Hindi 'to replacement for official links/information, these are just based on my own research โ€” so if in doubt, double-check/ask pa rin as this doesn't have all the answers :)

Thank you @era222 dito sobrang useful.

I think. Unang una naghanap tlaga kami house na about kaya. Dito luto tlaga and baon si Mister at anak.

Google nalang yung brand na yun kasi you will definitely need it during winter. Unless gusto niyo gumastos ng electricity which is expensive and magcocontribute pa sa kulang ng kuryente sa AU. Then kung malamig pa, magjacket and another jacket... Works for 0 to -7 degrees lang ha. Ewan ko nalang pag sumobra pa lamig. hehe

Nagpunta kami dito.

Sharing what we did after receiving our GRANT
Tips: Register at exactly 7AM in their website. Prepare image (JPG/PNG) files of your passport, visa, and another identification card. Choose PRINCIPAL for SC 189/190
APR 17: I registered both me and my husband using different accounts/emails at exactly 7AM. Same day nakareceive sya ng schedule for APR 18. Me none, I tried to contact their support around 4pm, they told me mali daw pagkaregister ko but I have screenshots to prove na tama naman, they suggested to register again the next day.
I have a spare email. Tapos unang reply nila is asking for my petitioner details. Mejo naoffend lang si girl kasi I picked SI189 naman and uploaded my visa details (may generalization ata sila na pag pinay may petitioner agad HAHA) and take note hindi ito hinanap kay husband ah! Ako pa yung primary applicant hahaha. So I had to explain in a polite way na wala ako petitioner. After, nakareceive naman na me ng schedule for APR 19. We received our online certificates immediately after filling-up an online form and paying the fees. Tips again: pag wala nareceive na link 1hr after ng orientation, contact them thru the email na nagsend sayo ng sched. In the โ€˜PETITIONERโ€™ section of the form, write your name (for SC 189 and 190 I think).
    2. Booking our FLIGHT โ€“ Iโ€™ve been monitoring cebpac sales for months na, may nagpop-up na mejo lower price na close date so I booked it na agad. 4 years namin hinintay to so dasurv namin soon BM HAHAHA ang lakas. Tip from kabayan Unsullied: Bring php money sa plane para pwede magbuy ng food pag nagutom (kaso you can only buy bread, chips, and drinks lang not the meals. so better eat before traveling). You can also add-on naman food and extra luggage sa cebpac even after booking.
p.s. may distant relatives si husband sa au na nagwelcome samin pagstay-an for a few weeks kaya makaka BM na kami agad hehe
    3. Closing the PAG-IBIG Account โ€“ apaka accommodating ng PAGIBIG Baguio. Just presented my plane itinerary, visa, an identification card, and my bdo debit card (where they will send the money). And poof! Tapos na, sila na rin nagphotocopy ng ID and card ko (unlike ibang govโ€™t offices jan lol). Itโ€™ll take 8-20 days daw bago mareceive ang amount.
    4. Converting our little POCKET MONEY to AUD โ€“ went to BDO SM Baguio (I have an account there) to enquire, magset daw muna ako ng appointment since wala available that day. So nagset kami Friday the next week since I had to be somewhere, they took my details and the amount I will convert. Went there on Friday shookt wala daw sila stock, daily basis daw ang remittance nila (what they receive sa morning at their branch and sm department store forex, yun lang pwede nila ibigay at the same day, then they have to remit it at 2pm and start at zero again the next day) they took my details again. After another week luckily may nagpaconvert and they called me, so napapalit naman namin after 3 weeks na pabalikbalik and may kasama naman na transaction paper with serial number ng mga AUD. (less than 10k AUD lang po hehe). Tip: do this na agad after receiving your grant para less hassle. If wala talaga AUD at your bank you can use USD pero icoconvert mo again sya to AUD in oz so twice bababa ang money mo due to conversion (last resort po ito if desperate na talaga)
    5. Packing our stuff โ€“ just clothes including winter clothes (we brought lots of winter clothes kasi 5 degrees at my husband's relative's place), shoes, books, and toiletries na less than 2Li in our 32kg each checked-in luggage. Personal stuff, documents, and electronics naman sa 7kg handcarry. We also brought blanket and inflatable neck pillow dahil lamigin ako haha. Tips: we hid our pocket money sa tumbler in our handcarry lol
    6. Signed-up for commbank days before pre-departure
    7. Registered to e-travel 3 days before flight
    8. Manila to Sydney โ™ฅ - it went very smooth pero mejo gahol sa time kasi 3 and half hours before our flight kami nakapasok sa naia lol. We spent like an hour at the check-in of cebpac (they opened the checked-in luggage, weighed the checked-in, printed the boarding pass, then the handcarry was not weighed!). an hour and half at the immigration line. and an hour before the flight nagpapasok na sila sa plane. so recommended talaga like 4 hours or more before departure kayo dumatin just in case mahaba pila sa check-in or immi. 7 and half hours smooth flight and touchdown Sydney!

just arrived in SYDNEY mga kapatid! ang bait ni Lord!

Like jollibee? Rice meal ganun? ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

Pwedi magbaon but you need to undergo sa Security sa airport sa Pinas.
Once naka check in ka na, tapos na immigration, may mga food stalls while waiting for the boarding.
Please consume it before landing sa Australia, while nasa plane pa lang, very strict sila dito.
If may natira man, make sure na hindi mo makakalimutan, or best to declare it..

Food is ok, but water or any liquid more than 100mL will be confiscated sa airport security afaik. You may buy after security check, or bring an empty bottle/tumbler tapos fill it up na lang sa avail fountain. Make sure to consume or throw them away before immigration check sa Aus to avoid any penalty.

Anyone interested in a big move guide? Specifically for PR, NSW at solo migrants flying from PH ito.

Looks comfy and warm :3

Although some nung gamit nila mura pero di ganun kaganda ung quality. Pero winter coats, okay siya. Try mo din tingin costco. May mura din dun, and big w.

Like jollibee? Rice meal ganun? ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

Basta do not forget to throw it pagkinolekta na ng staff. One more thing, wag niyo ilalagay sa carry on or check-in luggage niyo ang food, madedetect ni biosecurity dog yan. Unless gusto niyo magbayad ng 2600 aud. There was once incident recently lang Macaas somewhere south east asia, Aussie na yun ah. Nakalimutan niya kainin. Hence nasa carry on niya. Of course nakalimuytan niya ideclare.

Tip: Click niyo View > Show outline to see the table of contents

Thank you @era222 dito sobrang useful.

I think. Unang una naghanap tlaga kami house na about kaya. Dito luto tlaga and baon si Mister at anak.

Google nalang yung brand na yun kasi you will definitely need it during winter. Unless gusto niyo gumastos ng electricity which is expensive and magcocontribute pa sa kulang ng kuryente sa AU. Then kung malamig pa, magjacket and another jacket... Works for 0 to -7 degrees lang ha.

Looks comfy and warm :3

Wag niyo gagamitin yan pag papasok sa work or pumunta sa shopping plaza ah. Pagtatawanan kayo.

Yes you should declare it kasi merong dairy products yan. Nuts rin. Pakicheck nalang and ingredients and kung saan applicable sa declaration form. Kung may fruits payan.

After another week luckily may nagpaconvert and they called me, so napapalit naman namin after 3 weeks na pabalikbalik and may kasama naman na transaction paper with serial number ng mga AUD. If wala talaga AUD at your bank you can use USD pero icoconvert mo again sya to AUD in oz so twice bababa ang money mo due to conversion (last resort po ito if desperate na talaga)

Hi @lmsg06 congrats on your BM and thank you for the tips! Ask ko lang po, is it advisable to withdraw funds from SSS and Philhealth?

Covers pre-departure to getting settled to managing your visa (as an anxious person na solo flight sa migration lol). Note, lahat ng info dito ay checked as of May 2023 and will continue to update it until it's my turn to make the move. just arrived in SYDNEY mga kapatid! ang bait ni Lord!

    5. Tips: we hid our pocket money sa tumbler in our handcarry lol

Hi @lmsg06 congrats on your BM and thank you for the tips! Ask ko lang po, is it advisable to withdraw funds from SSS and Philhealth?

    @lmsg06 congrats sa inyo :)
May nareceived kaming barcode and all, taka lang ako CFO Cebu ang nakalagay. May nakuha na din akong schedule which is on June 28 (Wed). May I ask, di ba virtual yun? and is it via Zoom? Wala kasi akong zoom link or invite, pano makukuha yun link for online session? Lastly, ano customer support inemail mo for your inquiries? Nag email kasi ako to ask those questions, wala response. Baka kasi mali ung ginawa kong process.. Thanks in advance!
