I also got the idea here of giving feedback sa CO, then after one week ata, may grant na. So thanks to everyone! I tell them to consult this site for help.

Yung mga ka-batch ko and sinusundan ko na sina @Heprex and @Hunter_08, pare-pareho pa tayong June ang citizenship ceremony.

I also got the idea here of giving feedback sa CO, then after one week ata, may grant na. Feedback po papano? Visa grant or Citizenship? Thanks!

ako na try ko to both sa Visa 489 ko before at dito sa Citizenship application, pareho naman gumana..hehehe

Congrats! LOL pati citizenship gumana feedback? hahaha

Nice! Thank you for sharing. If ever we would get the CO contact, we will do the same

    Question po

Has anyone here po been granted citizenship through Ministerial Discretion?

Has anyone ever tried acquiring citizenship through exemption for not meeting the general residence requirement? So my situation is..

I migrated to Australia on a permanent resident visa January 2022. In theory I should be be able to apply for my citizenship by January 2026 granted I meet the general residence requirement.

My Australian citizen partner who works for the government will be posted abroad for a year in December 2024. He wants me to accompany him and we're looking at how this can affect my progress and application in 2026. IF I go I would not be able to satisfy not being away from Australia for no more than 12 months in total in the past 4 years, including no more than 90 days. We did some research and saw that there could be some exemptions to the general residence requirement through Ministerial Discretion?

If an applicant has spent periods outside of Australia, whilst as a spouse, or defacto partner of an Australian citizen, then they may be exempted from being counted as ‘absent’. If an applicant was a permanent resident during a period spent outside of Australia, may also be exempted from being counted as an absence. If an applicant has a ‘close and continuing association with Australia’ during the period of time outside of Australia, this may not be counted as being ‘absent’.

Having a close and continuing association with Australia, includes circumstances such as:

    • Having a spouse, or de facto partner that is an Australian citizen.
    • Having an extensive relationship with spouse, de facto partner or interdependent partner that is an Australian citizen.
    • Having extended family that lives in Australia.
    • Making multiple return visits to Australia.
    • Having multiple periods of residence in Australia.
    • Being employed within Australia, either in the public or private sector.
    • Owning property in Australia.
    • Having evidence of income tax payment in Australia.

It seems I fit this description but I just cant find anyone who's been on a similar situation where they had to be away on their last year before lodging application. I definitely will get an immigration lawyer once we get a final date on the posting but just curious if these exemptions are common and if people apply for it and still get denied.

Wow congrats and savour the feeling hanggang sa citizenship ceremony nyo. Afterwards apply kaagad ng OZ passport. It won't take a long time before it will arrive at your mailbox. Congrats once again.

Hi. Just wanted to ask for those anyone na may experience na sa ganitong situation.

I am currently waiting for my 190 NSW grant. Would there be any impact sa citizenship if I move to another state right after the grant to be with my relatives?

When I read the state nomination approval, it says there na I am required to commit for 2 years.

    Any thoughts on this?

In my friend’s case, he wrote to Immigration-Melbourne telling them he couldnt find a job here and he was offered a job in Perth.

    Hi all,

Passed our exam and got our citizenship approval last December 2022. Until now, we don’t have an invitation for oath taking. Immi website says 90% processing time is 8 months although I found another page specific to my council na 6 months lang processing, beyond that we belong to the 2% processing time na.

Anyone here with the same case? Thanks

    Hi @ArchLab1

Pwede hindi sabay especially if Hindi same yun first entry nyo. Ok lang yun. In my case nauna interview ko then niconfirm sa akin na my wife is also scheduled for interview so alam nila yun.

Hi Everyone, question lang po if someone has also experience the same ng samen. Salamat

Ahh that’s good to know. Sabay kme ng initial Entry. I guess puede niya din imention sa CO about sakin during ng interview niya. Salamat sa reply

Thanks

    Hi @lack14

Can I know anung council ka ?

@ArchLab1 moonee valley council. Hassle nga eh kc magbabayad ka pa returning resident visa if you’re travelling internationally.

Yun sa interview nyo, yup alam nila as long as you indicated in your application na you’re losing together and intending to take the same date of ceremony. Best of luck, sobrang dali ng exam.

Same feeling every time I log in here. Maalala mo all the challenges during the application, and now you’ll realise how far you’ve come. And you want to give back and help however you can dun sa mga nagsstart pa lang.

Ay no po, 1 month+ lang

    Citizenship approval - 27/01/2023
Invitation to citizenship ceremony - 06/03/2023

Depende po ata talaga sa council. May friend kaming kasabay it took them 4 months for approval to invitation, ibang council sila.
