Hello po, we're still also waiting for our grant and iniisip din namin kung patapusin na lang din muna ang school year bago mag bm. Paano naman po if ever na patapusin mag grade 1 dito sa Pinas ang bata tapos mag bm in the middle of the year, let's say June 2024, and ipasok na sa school sa Au in the middle of the school year naman nila, sa year 1 pa din ba sya bale iaadmit? Or may sort of assessment ba sila na ieevaluate kung pwede na sya sa year 2?

I would say may assessment sila. Call the admin of your nearest public school agad once you move in. Private schools may have different and stronger policies but public schools don’t have a choice kc It’s against the law if a child is not in school. The principal didn’t even ask for previous report cards but bring it to be sure.

Schools in Vic and NSW are more used to this because of its very diverse culture.

CFO yung authority na nagffacilitate ng PDOS seminar. Once macomplete mo yung PDOS, the CFO will give you a certificate (after the seminar) and sticker (for your passport, although recently parang nale-late ‘to). All the info you need is on the official website: https://cfo.gov.ph/cfo-hybrid-frontline-services-for-pre-departure-orientation-seminar-pdos-or-peer-counseling-program

Salamat po sa sagot. Ang pagkakaalam ko kasi sticker lang ang binibigay for the passport after ng pdos and wala nang certificate. Kailangan po ba both sticker and certificate or yung sticker sa passport is ok na? In case kailangan po yung certificate pwede po ba kumuha sa kanila!

Read the link I sent, andun lahat ng info including about sticker and certificate at paano yun nakukuha. Temporary digital certificate ang binibigay nila AFTER the seminar. Ang sticker ay for delivery. More details in the link.

Or wait for someone who recently exited the PH as PR, para sa mga hinanap sa kanila. Best of luck.

Sydney ako, napansin ko mas active yung mga taga melbourne. mas bayanihan sila dun. kahit yung FB pages ng pinoys in melbourne vs pinoy in sydney, ganun din. mas maingay yung pinoys in melbourne. opinion ko lang, i guess personality ng city. mas kanya kanyang buhay talaga mga taga sydney. melbourne ako dati, then moved to sydney. i think mas gusto ko din dito. parang mas may kanya kanya kami ng buhay. may mga times na nakakahiya humingi ng tutulong, pero wala din naman hihingi ng tulong sa yo. so patas lang :). anyway, good luck, sana wag ka masyado umasa sa tulong ng iba. if kasama mo family mo na lilipat, kaya niyo yan. ok din ang independent and kanya kanyang buhay ng sydney.

Pero, ako rin personally, mas gusto kong maging independent, have always been. Haha. As much as possible, ayoko makaabala sa ibang tao. I guess, Im antisocial that way lol :D

Mukha nga, matindi yung naka post sa yo "DIY all the way. Avoid preachy, know-it-all, and unscrupulous agents AT ALL COSTS!" hehe

Pero agree, I understand yung community for new movers. I am just saying, yun napansin ko nung time ko. I am not sure if mas madami din kasi naka student visa sa melbourne. may mag post lang dun na need laptops or house stuff, madaming tutulong. sa sydney, bihira ka may makikita na ganun post at kaunti lang sasagot na willing tumulong. sa melbourne napansin ko and even yung poster napansin niya, daming welcoming committee. kahit sundo sa airport, madami dun. sa sydney, again at least nung time ko ha. wala ako nakita nag organise hehe. so i guess what I am saying is, if plano mo sydney, hindi as accommodating mga tao sa sydney as compared sa melbourne. i am not saying masamang tao mga taga sydney ha. proud sydneysider ako, it is what it is. and i will say this much, there is not other place i would rather be than sydney.

Hello, meron bang GC for those who've done the BM into Sydney? Mostly nakikita ko is Melb based. Salamat!

Sydney ako, napansin ko mas active yung mga taga melbourne. mas bayanihan sila dun. kahit yung FB pages ng pinoys in melbourne vs pinoy in sydney, ganun din. mas maingay yung pinoys in melbourne. opinion ko lang, i guess personality ng city. mas kanya kanyang buhay talaga mga taga sydney. melbourne ako dati, then moved to sydney. i think mas gusto ko din dito. parang mas may kanya kanya kami ng buhay. may mga times na nakakahiya humingi ng tutulong, pero wala din naman hihingi ng tulong sa yo. so patas lang :). anyway, good luck, sana wag ka masyado umasa sa tulong ng iba. if kasama mo family mo na lilipat, kaya niyo yan. ok din ang independent and kanya kanyang buhay ng sydney.

I guess the intention of the poster was to have some kind of sense of community for new movers.

    HAHAHAHA paka obvious ba.

Yeah, lahat ng tao sa Syd gusto manirahan. Cant blame them tho. :D

Makikkiadd lang sirrs @xiaolico and @_sebodemacho. I share same sentiments on being independent sa big move. Siguro yung iba talaga will be moving from Pinas to AU first time and malaking adjustment talaga.

My relatives there (suburb) are part of a pinoy community and helpful sila to each other. With gathering over lunch/dinner or weekend travels pa. Pasuyo or pasabay sa ganyan lalo pag wala pang car. Even pabantay ng kids saglit.
Helpful talaga, at the same time these situations "might" drain one's social battery, as an introvert speaking. Hehe! Don't get me wrong, I admire the hospitality talaga pero iba rin pag independent ka. May pros and cons lahat.

LOL.

Hi everyone. Will be making the big move from Hong Kong to Melbourne early next year. Any recommendations for a family-friendly suburb? We are a family of 5 (3 kids). Or if you have any suggestions on which primary school your kids had a good experience.

Hi guys, has anyone tried to do volunteer work while still looking for a job after moving? I've read kasi that it is another way to get an AU work experience and my plan is in case wala akong makuha work before my big move, this is something I can try.

    1. How was the application process? Was it the same as how companies hire employees?
    2. How soon can you put this volunteer work as work experience sa CV?
    3. Did you stop the volunteer work as soon as you got a job?

Any inputs or tips regarding getting volunteer work will really be helpful. TIA! :)

Yeah, the entry date na indicated sa visa is DHA’s discretion. But iba pa rin ang state requirements, so maybe within 3 months talaga nila gusto.

I suggest you send a message to Migration WA. States are usually responsive to questions about their immigration programs.
