Happy new year po sa lahat!! Question lang sa mga nakapag BM na. Pano po kayo nagapply ng medicare? Family of 4 po kami. Dapat ba lahat eh aapplyan ng medicare? Thank you po sa sasagot.

Check first if Medicare covers your visa type. It is recommended to get one since it will cover your medical expenses here (other than private health insurance) and additional proof of identity na rin.

We applied online thru mygov as recommended by one of our respondents here. i-link mo yung Medicare sa mygov, may option dun to apply kung wala pang Medicare. Big help talaga. We got approved in less than a week and then, we received our Medicare card in less than 2 weeks. We applied separately.

By the way, since family of four po kayo, ang alam ko ay may Medicare na covered ang family meaning, di lang po 1 ang beneficiary ng 1 card. You can save po ata with this type of registration however, yung benefit amount is also shared for all the beneficiaries registered in that account (not sure though), better verify at a Services Australia branch.

    Hope this helps!

Happy New year guys! Wala pa po kasi thread na Big move 2024 kaya dito nalang ako mag aask ng question regarding child care. We are on a Visa 190 and planning to move this May 2024. We have 4 years old child. Salamat po in advance.

Since non recognised country ang PH, kailangan mag take pa din ng test. You can check the state website for requirements.

It's actually your prerogative. If you want to share a single card number for everyone in the family or not, it's up to you.

But I think, personally, all adults must have their own. Then the minors or dependents should be riders on one or two adult cards (this is the maximum a person's name is printed on card at any given time) until they are old enough to hold a separate one. I believe, this is what's generally advisable as well.

Read the guide entirely on Medicare card: https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/medicare-card

    Hope this helps. :)

Hello po para sa mga nakapag big move na paano pong diskarte ginawa nyo nag rent po ba kayo ng sasakyan agad from airport or taxi/uber family of 4 kasi kami plus luggages so I think hndi kami kasya sa taxi :)

May mga van type na taxi but you have to book in advance. May UberXL din.

Hi, same here, fam of 4. If airport transfer is too pricey for you you can book 2 uber rides. We had 8 bags. 1 uber XL where we loaded the bags with 1 parent and 1 child. Booked another uber almost exactly the same time requested. Kaya magkasunuran lang yung uber. Each parent had the app.

Anyone interested in a big move guide? Specifically for PR, NSW at solo migrants flying from PH ito. Doing my research now and regularly checking this forum for insights/info, so naisip kong i-compile in a document since na-overwhelm ako sa dami nang need isipin, haha. Still a work in progress but sharing in case it helps anyone else: https://docs.google.com/document/d/18jQIdQkr1Rsq_qRxmexUqQwGdJ53Sax8iFKUfbi6fBE/view

Covers pre-departure to getting settled to managing your visa (as an anxious person na solo flight sa migration lol). Note, lahat ng info dito ay checked as of May 2023 and will continue to update it until it's my turn to make the move. Kumuha rin ako ng mga anecdotes galing sa forum, added sources sa mga naaalala ko para may reference. Hindi 'to replacement for official links/information, these are just based on my own research — so if in doubt, double-check/ask pa rin as this doesn't have all the answers :)

Omg era222. Thank you so much dito. This is a good reference sa mga mag big move lalo na if mag isa. Isave ko na siya in case I get my visa soon. Iup ko na rin dito para makita ng iba.

Hello, you can check Singapore Airlines. They have great service and the baggage check-in allowance is 30kg. However, it is not a direct flight. There will be a layover in Singapore. You can choose between 12hrs or 24hrs layover if I remember it correctly. Pwede pa kayo mamasyal ng konti sa SG. Then the connecting flight is still Singapore Airlines from SG to AU.

Thanks! I booked my flight via Qantas. Kaya lang yung additional checkin baggage will have to be bought twice - mnl > syd, then syd > adl. I dont think the 30kg allowance would be enough since I am thinking of bringing na din some fall/winter clothes para di ko na bilhin pa.

Yun sa Singapore Airlines ba ganun din?

Qantas updated my flight and I am considering getting a refund if may mas affordable na additional checkin allowance. Any advise? I dont remember if I had to pay additional checkin allowance per layover. TIA!

Hello, sa Singapore Airlines, you don't need to pay for the check-in baggage separately if the layover is in SG because it is an international flight. But in your case, you will be going on a domestic flight from SYD to ADL so that is why you need to pay for your domestic flight check-in baggage allowance. In short, payment for the baggage allowance for international flight and domestic flights are separate.

    MY ROAD TO AUSTRALIAN PR

Nominated Occupation: Architectural Draftsperson - ANZSCO 312111 (Offshore)

    2020

Jan 20: Since I’m DIYing it, I started researching and learning the whole process.
Feb 22: VETASSESS – I started gathering all required documents.
Apr 25: VETASSESS – I finished gathering all my documents. I created my account and started filling up the Skills Assessment for General Occupation Application.
Apr 29: VETASSESS – I double-checked my documents. I started uploading the required documents. I decided not to include my first work in the Philippines because I don’t have payment evidence of it. I didn’t include my 1st work in Singapore as well because I don’t have a Certificate of Employment from that job.
Apr 30: VETASSESS – I double-checked my documents for the last time.
May 01: VETASSESS – I successfully submitted my online assessment for Architectural Draftsperson. Total amount paid is AUD$ 880 (SGD$ 842.66) Crossing my fingers that the outcome will be positive.
May 05: VETASSESS – My application status was lodged.
Jul 12: VETASSESS – After 11 weeks, the results came out and it was Positive. Number of years assessed positively was 9.63 which is equivalent to 15 points in EOI.
Jul 25: IELTS – I finally booked my IELTS Computer-delivered Test for SGD$ 365. My test date was Aug 16, 2020.
Aug 16: IELTS – It was my test day. Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing were all taken on this day.
Aug 21: IELTS – My test results came out. L: 9.0 R: 7.5 W: 7.0 S: 7.5 which is Proficient English. It is equivalent to 10 points in EOI.
Aug 22: EOI – I finally submitted my Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect for NSW Visa 190.

    My points breakdown:
    Age: 25
    English Language Ability: 10
    Education: 15
    State Nomination: 5
    Years of Experience: 15
    Total: 70 points

*Invitation rounds for NSW nomination under the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) are currently closed. I’m expecting that this may take a while because of the pandemic and the current situation in Australia. I just have to wait for the federal government’s advice on when it will open again.

    2022

Jul 5: IELTS – Since my IELTS exam result was expiring on Aug 16, 2022, I booked my 2nd IELTS Computer-delivered Test for SGD$ 378. My test date was on Jul 17, 2022. I didn’t know at that time that Australia is accepting its validity for 3 years. But I was able to use it as well for my Canada PR application.
Jul 17: IELTS – It was my test day. Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing were all taken on this day.

*Invitation rounds for NSW nominations under the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) were still closed. It’s expected to open in November 2022. I hope I get invited before my birthday because I will lose points during an age milestone on December.

I only had 70 points. I updated my EOI and changed my preferred state to Victoria, which only requires a minimum of 65 points. I then created an account in the Live In Melbourne portal and submitted my Registration of Interest (ROI).

Dec XX: EOI – My points went down to 60 points due to an age milestone and I am now not qualified for at EOI in the Australian Skillselect. My only hope is to get higher points in my English exam to get back in the pool. I withdrew my EOI and ROI in Victoria.
    Dec19: – I booked my PTE English Test for USD$ 260 (SGD$ 367.11). My exam date was on Dec 30, 2022.

Hello, just want to share lang din regarding titirhan during your BM, especially for SYD and MEL.

Both SYD CBD and MEL CBD are definitely great in terms of work opportunities and very accessible to work, schools/unis, tourist spots and main train lines. However, i'm lowkey sure that majority of moving in pinoys (c.75%) will eventually settle in a suburb 30min to 1hour away from the main city dahil very expensive talaga ang rents in CBD and surrounding suburbs. Of course, depende din kung saan ba ang magiging workplace or school mo when considering place to live. I work in CBD po.

In Sydney, I lived 30-45min away from CBD. In MEL, i lived 30min away from CBD. Train travel lang po ito at di pa kasama ang bus/train waiting at walking. I can definitely tell na relatively mas mura ang MEL rent vs SYD rent, pero mas OK ang public transpo ng SYD vs MEL based on my experience.

Currently planning to move to CBD mismo but have to consider the potentially smaller space (or less privacy if may ka-share), and higher rent (offset by lower/zero transpo costs). Owning a car for transpo can be a consideration din po for our movers.

    Thanks!

Hi po I came across your message here, and question lng po sa experience nyo with schooling.
    1. Paano po ang naging transition? Did your kid/s stop attending sa current school and simply continue with the same grade/level in the new school in Australia? or depende sa assessment.
    2. Sa state school po ba o private nyo sila ini-enroll? Naaccept po ba un curriculum ng Deped?
    3. Ano-ano po ang mga hiningi ninyo sa previous school na documents at need pa ba ng authentication para dito?

Any advice po you can share would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Our visa was granted right before PH schoolyear started, so we didn't let them proceed na. We would be required to pay for the whole year kasi even if they attend a semester. Yung year nila that they were supposed to start in PH, doon din namin sila inenroll for this year (AU school starts Feb). Some schools will allow new students naman even in the middle of the year and let them continue the same level or even proceed to the next one na. I hear stories from my relatives na ahead ang topics in PH so di nahihirapan ang kids to adjust.

    2. We went with a Catholic school. It's not entirely private kasi Diocese ang nagpapatakbo. It's not free but not too expensive as the independent schools. Di sila ganun ka strict with curriculum but the school may opt to assess students. It varies with the school so it's something you can ask them.

    3. Yung nirequest lang namin from the PH school was transfer credentials which is parang transcript of records lang nila. Normally naka dry seal yung document.
