PTE or OET?

Hi! I am attempting to get a Superior level of English for my EOI points to go up, kasi of now mababa lang po points ko. Ano po ang best option for this? I've taken the OET before, but getting all A's seems difficult. On the other hand, never pa po ako nag PTE. Or should I consider IELTS as well? Any advice?

@izzamrg , I tried Ielts and PTE. Based on my experience, PTE is much easier than Ielts. But not sure for OET. Anyway, I advise you to take PTE. Good luck! =)

I hear you! Needing a higher English score for your EOI points can be stressful. While all three tests (OET, PTE, IELTS) are accepted for Australian immigration, let's explore some options to target that Superior level:

    • OET: Since you've already tried the OET, if you were close to all A's, it might be worth refocusing your preparation. Consider enrolling in a course specifically designed to boost OET scores. These courses can provide targeted strategies and practice materials to help you achieve top marks in each section.

    • PTE: If you're open to a new test format, the PTE might be a good option. It's computer-based and emphasizes a more conversational style of English. There are plenty of online resources and practice tests available for the PTE, so you can self-study and see how you fare.

    • IELTS: The IELTS is another widely accepted test and offers both Academic and General Training versions. The Academic version is typically required for immigration purposes. Many test prep centers and online resources cater to IELTS preparation, so you'll find plenty of support materials.

Here's a quick comparison to help you decide:

    • Focus: OET leans towards medical English, while PTE and IELTS are more general.
    • Test format: OET is paper-based, while PTE and IELTS offer both computer and paper options.
    • Availability: IELTS might be more readily available in your area compared to PTE.

    My recommendation:

    1. Consider your learning style: Do you prefer a structured course or self-study with online resources?
    2. Research test formats: Familiarize yourself with the OET, PTE, and IELTS formats to see which one aligns best with your strengths.
    3. Target your weaknesses: Analyze your previous OET results and focus on areas that need improvement.

    Additional Tips:

    • Immerse yourself in English: Read English news articles, watch movies and shows in English, and try to converse with native speakers whenever possible.
    • Practice speaking English: Join conversation groups or online forums to practice speaking confidently.

Remember, there's no one-size-fits-all answer. By considering your learning style and the specific requirements of each test, you can choose the best option to achieve that Superior English score and boost your EOI points!
