In Australia, a skills assessment for a Graduate Visa (subclass 485) is not directly acceptable for migration purposes. Here's why:

    Graduate Visa Skills Assessment:

For a Graduate Visa, the skills assessment focuses on verifying your qualifications and experience in relation to your nominated occupation. This assessment is typically done by:

    1. VETASSESS (Vocational Education and Training Assessment Services)
    2. Engineers Australia
    3. Australian Computer Society (ACS)
    4. Other assessing authorities relevant to your occupation

    Migration Skills Assessment:

For migration purposes (e.g., Skilled Independent Visa, subclass 189), a more comprehensive skills assessment is required. This assessment evaluates your qualifications, experience, and skills against the Australian standards for your nominated occupation.

    Key differences:

    1. Purpose: Graduate Visa assessment focuses on temporary residency, while migration assessment focuses on permanent residency.
    2. Scope: Migration assessment evaluates skills and experience in more depth.
    3. Requirements: Migration assessment may require additional documentation, such as:

    a. More detailed work experience
    b. Qualification certification
    c. Professional development records

    Acceptable Assessments for Migration:

For migration purposes, skills assessments from the following authorities are generally accepted:

    1. VETASSESS
    2. Engineers Australia
    3. ACS
    4. Australian Institute of Management (AIM)
    5. Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT)
    6. Other relevant assessing authorities

    Important Note:

If you've already had a skills assessment for a Graduate Visa, you may need to:

    1. Update your assessment to meet migration requirements.
    2. Provide additional documentation.
    3. Pay additional fees.

    Recommendation:

Consult the Australian Department of Home Affairs website or contact the relevant assessing authority to confirm specific requirements for your migration skills assessment.

Hi fellas, my husband is my secondary applicant. Antagal din namin maghintay for invitation since 2022.
He's graduating na soon in Australia and processing his skills assessment via VETASSESS for Civil Engineering Draftsman.

**Is it valid to claim partner's skill using his graduate visa skills assessment? **

    Thanks in advance :)

I believe is not valid is it for a 485? If yes then he needs to provide a SKILLS ASSESSMENT for Migration Purposes in order to claim points

Appreciate your insight po about this.
My wife has 9 yrs worth of relevant experience here in PH as Civil Engineer however, she is not a board passer. Now, she got this feedback from the EA Assessor:
Option A---No record Relevant Skilled Employment and the outcome will still be Civil Engineer
Option B---Record Relevant Skilled Employment but the outcome will be Engineering Technologist.

    1. Sa tingin nyo po ano ung mas ok sa dalawang options for her EOI process?
    2. Would it matter po ba either of the 2 options if ako naman ang mgcclaim ng +5 points for partner skills?

    Thank sa mga sasagot po.
