Hi everyone,
I’m currently preparing my ACS skills assessment for migration purposes and would really appreciate insights from those who’ve recently been through the process.
Specifically, I’m looking for guidance on:
Structuring the RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) report
Choosing the right ANZSCO code
Document checklist and formatting tips
Common pitfalls or mistakes to avoid
Typical processing timeframes
If anyone can share their experience or offer practical advice, it would be incredibly helpful. I'm aiming to ensure my application is strong and aligns with ACS requirements from the start.
Thanks in advance!

@Jacob6785 what is your line of work in IT and your degree (equivalent) in college?
Why you want to pursue RPL pathway? Any prior ACS assessment?

I’ve been working in the IT industry for several years now, primarily focused on system administration and network support, with hands-on experience in server management, troubleshooting, and IT infrastructure setup. Over time, I’ve also gained exposure to cloud-based platforms and some scripting for automation.
In terms of formal education, I don’t hold a traditional ICT degree, but I do have a non-ICT qualification (or alternatively, “a degree in a different field”) and have built my IT skills through real-world work experience, on-the-job training, and continuous learning. That's why I'm applying through the RPL pathway—to have my practical knowledge and skills recognised even though my degree isn’t ICT-related.
I haven’t had a prior ACS assessment, so this will be my first submission. I’m putting a lot of effort into making sure everything aligns with the ACS requirements and accurately reflects my work history.
Thanks!
